Hey all,
this is currently my daily driver while I try to get the Sprinter back on the road. Bought it off Doony about a month ago knowing it needed some work and have almost enjoyed every minute of driving it. Turned out that No. 2 cylinder had no compression, there was a massive vacuum leak somewhere and the carbie was gunked up :hehe:

Ended up buying another 4K-C powerhouse for it and dropping it in over two nights and also bought a carbie kit so it's like it's from factory. It is a KE70 body but has AE front end as it was sagging according to Doony.

Handles extremely well and is a grippy little car that the missus can also learn in.Just needs wider rims and tyres as you can feel them flexing when cornering hard. So thats the story so far and it hasn't missed a beat, time for some specs.

ENGINE:
Older 4K-C with some emmissions removed
Brand new carbie kit in it
Excellent air-con
2.5" Dori exhaust pipe out back

SUSPENSION:
Ae86 struts and brakes
Lovell's 5+3 kg springs
Koni yellows all round (yes adjustable, NO not short stroke)
Standard cheese graters and tyres >@

INTERIOR:
Unknown reclinable bucket seat
HKB boss kit
D1 spec steering wheel
TRD gear knob
Centre console removed

EXTERIOR:
Side strips removed
Wheel archs slightly rolled
Rolla badge

Plans are to fix the boot up and paint it and also the bonnet black and maybe convert back to KE front, purchase some wider rims and tyres. . . maybe turbo it as i have two spare turbo's lying around :yeah:

Could do with some spacers to push them right out to the guards. Also if anyone has any AE71 front indicators, i wish to purchase them as my dog decided to eat mine haha

Bought a shell off Drain on the weekend and stripped the front end of it and pillaged the interior. Front end is so straight and non-saggy which is a bonus so will paint that up in the next few weeks when i get the time and bolt it on. Finally got back window put on the car thanks to the shell again.

Now the back window also had a louvre on it but i don't whether i should fit it, cut it down to make a window spoiler or sell it?

Got a spare head lying around at home so i'm planning on working it slightly to get a little more oomph :)

Plans are to. . .
Polish the inlet and exhaust ports
Get head shaved for some compression
Port inlet manifold
Niki carb upgrade
Remove all unessicary emissions shit
Red crinkle paint cam cover

Planning on spending close to $0 as my old man is a machinist and i'll do all the work myself. But i really want some Coby extractors to help it breathe a little better haha

Slight change of plans with the motor as the engine in it now is pretty much rooted and needs a rebuild.

Putting a deposit down on a reco'd short engine with just a hone and rings and will chuck the head i'm building up on that, so it should go alot better.

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/5724/p6180091.jpg (http://img20.imageshack.us/i/p6180091.jpg/)

That's it for now. I'm picking the new block up next Friday so hopefully by Sunday arvo i can have it running.

Any one with a 4k will know what this used to look like! The whole lot was hard black oil but after a day in the Robowash it comes out like new :)

Harmonic balancer and alternator will get the same colour treatment :) What's your old mans wagon got done to it?

Dazzla86
19th June 2010, 04:04 PM
haha the wagon is mine. just finalising the engine now 4k block, 5k pistons, balanced, double valve springs, fully ported with the valve guides ground flush, 45mm solexes, japanese engine i just rebuilt it. the one you seen on the engine stand :-)

AE86 Spoontah
19th June 2010, 09:42 PM
That's sounds like it's gonna be pretty strong 4K. What extractors you gonna run? How did you grind the valve guides down?

Dazzla86
20th June 2010, 02:09 AM
ahh just the extractors that came with it. have a look in my wagon build thread... i'd say they used a die grinder to grind it down flat then flapper wheeled the ports, their all nice and smooth. i just had to clean up them from corossion a little . there is a webber carby kit on ebay at the moment check it out under ke70 :-)

AE86 Spoontah
20th June 2010, 08:57 PM
Too much for those carby kits, i've been watching them for ages.

Also got a Bosch SU12R coil off the 71 shell.

AE86 Spoontah
27th June 2010, 09:53 PM
I got the engine together last night with the help of some beers as i wasn't happy with the piston's that were in the block i purchashed. 3 of the pistons looked like the valves had hit the top so i swapped them out with my ones and put the new rings on them. Put the engine back in the car today but ran out of light so i never got to fire it up. Next weekend i'll fire it up to see how it goes.

And i reckon this is the cleanest looking 4K-C in WA at the moment so tell me what you think :)

Ready to go
