its pretty standard except for the wheels. i have no idea what they are. on the centre caps it said ROH and they are 13 inch rims. i didnt check offset when i was cleaning them. there isnt much rust anywhere in it actually. a little bit ontop of the petrol cap and in the spare wheel bit. FOR SALE!!!!

starni_boy
1st January 2007, 08:39 AM
first off i will probably do s13 front suspension and then i will do the rear suspension straight after that. and later on down the track i will probably put sr20de into it. i might do castor arms and sway bars but not sure yet. i will see what happens. then after all that i will do the little things like seats steering wheel, rims.

well it WAS 1000 until i traded in the 12 months rego and all that stuff so it worked out to be 500 bucks or sumthin. i did some weight saving on it today and lost about 5 kilos on the car. all i did was chuck all the shit from in the boot into the bin lol. it was a guys car and there were stockings in the boot..... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wtf.gif haha and i pulled out the back seats expecting a bit of money, but instead the car filled my toolbox http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif found like 10 spanners or something in it. gettin my suspension when i get back from holidays gettin s13 stuff for the front. should be fun........................................

lol thanks mate. starting to pull up the sound deadening in the rear and these are the following tools im using:
1. 20mm chisel

thats it. a chisel. a hard life it is ripping it up with only a chisel. lol oh well i got a fair bit of t done in half an hour though.

12th January 2007, 08:41 PM
a chisel is better than clawing at it with your fingers...

is the same colour/model (s=slide spec) as mine only you paid 80 more no including the rego cash in..

some people recon that ke70's arnt work anything and there cusin kenny swapped one for a sav, i recon thats bs.. its worth paying the money for a clean one...

starni_boy
12th January 2007, 08:49 PM
yeh i reckon its worth the money for a clean one for sure. or you could get a rusted bomb for $100 and drive it until you or your engine fall through the floor of it. i think i know what my choice would be... the clean ones are the way to go for sure if you can find them though.. getting my ae86 clutch setup tomorrow because mine is a gay auto banger, soon to be sr20de 5 speed http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

lol..dang i thought they would have been something cool. oh well they look alright i guess. pulled out the rear half of the sound deadening underneath the back seat and stuff wieghed like 2.5 kg. i didnt really care how much it weighed because i wanted to strip the interior from the back seat to the boot and spray it white from the bare metal. got my ae86 brake pedal and clutch setup today. brake pedal will be going in tomorrow hopefully and the clutch will be going in after the engine is out. that is all the updates at the moment..

i wrote dave at ajps a pm of what i wanted for rear suspension and stuff, and he hasnt gotten back to me yet. this was like 1 and a half weeks ago. is he on holidays or something?? would there be a reason why he isnt writing back? i know he is busy and running his own business but a reply would be good. im not having a go at him or anything or anyone, i would just like to know.

well over the last three days or so, i stripped out the interior from the carpet back to the end of the boot. but the boot has a fair bit rust in the corner of it, so i am going to wait to spray the entire boot part of the car until the rust is fixed up a bit. but here is what the car looked like with the rust proof spray on it at the start of it.................

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/6779/img0480gs4.jpg (http://%5bURL=http://imageshack.us)]rust spray 1

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/2456/img0481jj2.jpg (http://%5bURL=http://imageshack.us)]rust spray 2

and the finished product......

http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/3884/img0482la5.jpg (http://%5bURL=http://imageshack.us)]finished 1

http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/1124/img0483uq8.jpg (http://%5bURL=http://imageshack.us)]finished 2

i reckon that it makes it look cleaner inside.. thats all for now, apart for my new brake brake pedal in there. and my engine is soon going hopefully, then i can get my hachi hydraulic clutch in there. the interior isnt much. and most of the body panels are off besides the doors..

i got s13 front suspension the other day (orange hachi good on ya!!). so all that will be going in when i get my $1200 worth of rear suspension off dave at ajps. front suspension has s13 coilovers (no brand), sr20 machined disks, pulsar sss calipers, all brand new seals bolts bearings, and all brand new tie rod ends and steering arms. anything i may have not gotten besides lower control arms which i am getting brand new from repco anyway??

im thinking either CA18de, SR20de or a 20V silver top. what does everyone think i should do? im leaning towards the SR20de more than the rest. where abouts in the shire are you?

20v ftw ! !

starni_boy
28th January 2007, 10:47 AM
yeh they go pretty hard them things. what conversion is harder, SR20 or silver top 20v?

gottago
28th January 2007, 11:00 AM
silvertop would bolt in with the 4age mounts as its the same block pattern as the 4age jdm one.

i owned a sr20de datsun 1200 ute with 4.875 rear, and now ive got a silvertop 20v ae86.. the ae86 feels a bit faster ay..

s13 sr20de ( redtop) makes 108kw stock and doesnt bolt in u need custom mounts and tailshaft.

silvertop 20v makes 120kw?? and basically bolts in and u can use another stock shaft ( front half??)

id personally go silvertop man, mine made 97rwkw with just ems headers and quads...

altho sr20de motor and box is about $1500 ( $600 box $600 motor from any justjap last time i rung them up)

soon as i get my car engineered ill take ya for a spin to show u how the silvertop goes, then u can make ya own decision..

how long till u want to start the engine conversion?

anastasios
28th January 2007, 11:22 AM
i would go sr20 as it gives you more potential at a cheaper price to make more power in the future

starni_boy
28th January 2007, 11:32 AM
anastios: yeh but the custom work is just gay, and i dont like the way that the gearstick is right infront of the handbrake.

nicebebbo: whenever i am ready. suspension goes in first before anything. then massive savin for an engine. how much would a 20v set me back? and what gearbox would i use?

Gilly
28th January 2007, 11:32 AM
i would lean to the SR as well

similar torque figures to a ze

torque is where its at.......

starni_boy
28th January 2007, 11:33 AM
sr20 would be so good though but its just the custom work and what the companies charge if you want them to do it. if money wasnt an option sure i would go for it.

starni_boy
28th January 2007, 10:13 PM
decided to go with the silver-top 20V... was this a good choice do you guys reckon? i will end up putting a turbo on it later on anyway. what do they go like non turbo??

Gilly
28th January 2007, 10:38 PM
20vs are nice. i've owned a 20v ke70 and would again

starni_boy
29th January 2007, 07:46 AM
im new to this 20V stuff i was earching up on the SR. so just 4AGE engine mounts for ae86? then what gearbox should i run? a t-50 or would that be too weak? help please!! haha http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/cool.gif

Rakurai
29th January 2007, 09:03 AM
silver tops are like $750 from sss automotive.. so i guess it reletivly cheap .. i think a t50 should be sweet.. prolly wrong tho..lol.. and u can get a jdm t50 from mark a Banzai for like 500.. so all up its $1250 for engine and box.. i think a fair bit of cash will be on the labour.. also im pretty sure u will need to run coil packs.. i hear silver 20v's go alright... everyone has an opinion

AE71GZE
29th January 2007, 09:20 AM
T50 will be fine and will stand up to 20v punishment for some time.
plus they are relstively cheap (not as cheap these days tho) so replacing isn't to much of a drama !
also sivertops are a much stronger base for turbs conversion further down the track if you choose to go this way as
they don't have the hollow (weaker) rods the black top does.

jdmcoupe
29th January 2007, 09:24 AM
Go sr20...

u get more power, more torque, you piss of the weak t50

and you can pay some dude 400$ to make u custom gearbox and engine mounts!!!!

Can run of factory comptuer.... and they are not much more expensive then 20v and they are newer!!!!

AE71GZE
29th January 2007, 09:29 AM
if you want to go SR NA . pm carpoo1 as he has a motor loom and box destined for a ke ..sitting there waiting to go plus he's a shire eh hem fag ..I mean boy too haha !

Gilly
29th January 2007, 09:55 AM
i think you'll find they will both come in around the same price to fit. NA Sr's are cheap as you need mounts to be made (Kaizen) and a tailshaft. in saying that 20v's need to be converted to coilpacks (aftermarket ECU) water relocator kits and some other odds and ends. so cost wise you'd be surprised how close they are. a t series diff would be fine with a SR20DE

20v's look hot though with quads and shit and with the cooling system set up right. stock management on a 20v isn't ideal especially a ST as you will need to keep the AFM which is the quickest way to make the engine look ghey. BT factory management allows you to run open throttles, but you pay through the ass for BT's http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif you could happily run the SR on stock manangement as nothing needs to be changed to fit it.

i say the NA SR

but i'm budget orientated and don't mind a bit of interracial action http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

And in an engineers eyes programable aftermarket ecu means no engineers papers .
So SR might be more legal !

ive never had any problems with that, it might be illegal but the majority of cars i have seen engineered are with aftermarket computers with no problems. my engineer said it was fine. but what an engineer passes and whats legal are 2 different things.

20v goes ok, def needs more power to be more fun tho, barely chirp 2nd gear up the straight.. hey each to their own, really depends what u want from the car?

AE71GZE
29th January 2007, 10:40 AM
Any legally engineered car requires a non programable ecu .
Alot of people engineer a car with standard computer than upgrade to programable ecu after as I am doing now .
Be careful with who you use as there is a crackdown on shonky engineers and I have heard from a good source (but don't quote me to this) that reports issued from engineers with their licences revoked will be voided !
Just a heads up ! !

starni_boy

thanks everyone. the car will be used on the track every now and then, daily, and a few runs through some curvy roads in the national park.. is there much power difference between the two?

3 from 3 engineers said no problems ( said they would engineer the car ) with aftermarket computer long as i retain all emission control gear with the motor. It might be illegal but the engineers are more than happy to look past it and engineer the rest of the car and not comment on it. In other words the ones i rang up didnt care about the computer, more worried about the mounts and crossmembers, since its all bolt in they seemed pretty laid back. blueslip is sorted to. so i would only get dun at the defect station or if it was inspected by an rta representative.

Yeah thats bullshit, once the papers have been signed its done, but if the mods arnt legal for the roads then the car is still un-registerable making the cert worth nothing. they cant revoke your certs, they can however inspect your vehicle ( which they did to my friends mate) and see if its legal at the time of engineering ( eg legal back in 2002 when it was engineered) and void your rego if its not legal. your fine if its legal.

Ask some of the rotor boys about the old 12a/13b swap they used to pull. Last time i heard when one of the engineers got dun some of the customers got calls to get their cars inpected, and got denied for registration due to non RTA legal mods.

You can only dodge the law for so long..

good point with the SR20de tho, the stock computer can be used with no probs making it more legal.

but when the copper opens the bonnet and sees NISSAN on the rocker cover and looks at the badge that says TOYOTA on the grill then he would just want to look over the whole car. but i guess when he opens the bonnet an sees a nice silver motor (20V) with a glowing turbo i guess the same thing would happen.. dunno what to do. im keen on both now. which one makes more power when its aspo (non-turbo) do you guys think?

v-tec
29th January 2007, 01:15 PM
As long as you have proper modification plates and really the car isnt that dodgy (or at least doesnt look it) the cop really wouldnt have a case

AE71GZE
29th January 2007, 01:39 PM
Starni Yeah thats when they ask for your report .
Yeah they basically engineer it with no computer ...meaning if you get a half cluey cop (rare I know but they do exist) they'll ask what engine management your packing if they see it blank and if they suspect you lie and you get checked your done !
you'd be unlucky but keep in mind in the scheme of things .

Gilly
29th January 2007, 02:15 PM
peak power is similar

SR has shitloads more torque though

S14 VVT SR20DE would be the pick of the bunch, should make more power and torque agin over the regular S13 item

i still got a while before i get it but i like to know what i want early on in the build. and im hopefully welding some of the chassis like strut towers (f & r) and stuff like that. where else should be welded? should i do the rails on the floor inside it aswell? would it make much of a difference cause really, i cbf doing it if it does nothing.

AE71GZE

blacktops have hollow rods so are not as acceptable to turbs applications as you said you wanted to look towards in the future .
I'd be saying silver top definately ..heaps cheaper too !

starni_boy
2nd February 2007, 08:04 PM
alright, soon to be mods..
engine: silver top 20V
suspension:
FRONT:
s13 coilovers
REAR:
short stroke adj. shocks
6kg ajps spring
adj. panhard rod
diff: ????
rear end: ????

so what rear end should i put in there?? would like an lsd in there and it needs to be strong, very strong

20sil

Rear: T 18 so 2 way can fit.

Lets hope this shit happens cause we all have hopes and dreams aye.

starni_boy
2nd February 2007, 10:25 PM
true that. i got the suspension at home waiting to go in for the front, im getting held up by the front rims and nowhere to host the car until my mum and dad get a container for their business coz all their shit is being stored in the garage where my car is meant to be. when that is all gone, mods shall begin http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif what about chassis stiffening?? weld or strut braces with pillar brace?? welding the strut towers and stuff for sure but the middle of the body?

all the interior has been converted to black, hasnt been put in yet, but just looking at it all on the cars roof it looks schmick as. getting my dash redone because of the cracks in it and the door trims are bein changed over. hopefully getting my 20V soon aswell.. thats it for now. oh and the clutch is a bitch to get in aswell..haha http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

as for the lsd.

get a t18 diff and theres a few options for lsd's kaaz cusco and trd and more
i just paid $1275 from AJPS for a trd 2way to fit the t18, also the t18 can have a rear sway bar too not sure if it will fit the ke70 or not tho but my ae86 was fine..

how much u pay for the silvertop? and what u get with it?

starni_boy
11th February 2007, 08:27 PM
$450.. engine, throttle bodies, air conditioner compresser, and thats all i know of. the engine has only done 95,000kms. do you think its worth it?? it has no loom, spark plug leads or afm. worth it or not??

20sil
11th February 2007, 09:01 PM
Id buy one complete for an extra $400 and you can get loom to.

starni_boy
12th February 2007, 07:32 AM
but would it cost much to get all the bits if its missing stuff??

20sil

starni_boy
12th February 2007, 04:58 PM
it has the water pump.. for $450 it sounds pretty good. like to get the bits its missing wouldnt cost that much. but the loom can cost a bit. i know that v-tec got a loom made for like $500. bit expensive but thats what happens. worth it or not??

gottago
12th February 2007, 05:36 PM
man engine parts can add up pretty quickly id say it would cost alot more if u had to buy new parts, eg coil, dizzy, afm, quads and linkages headers alternator started wiring loom etc.... $450 for a bare engine i would see as ok( if in good nick), but for an extra $300 id want everything for with motor or i wouldnt pay it. just my opinion tho.

for comparison redtop sr20de bare motor is about $600 from an importer last time i checked.

starni_boy
12th February 2007, 05:46 PM
i will see what happens with it.. i may get it or might let it go i will decide on it tonight..

starni_boy
13th February 2007, 02:42 PM
deicided not to buy it, purely because of the fact that i did not know what it came with and that it could cost more than what a complete engine would cost.. i think it was a good decision and will save up about 1000 jus for the engine and box

20sil
13th February 2007, 03:11 PM
Yeah good decision man, keep looking.

starni_boy
13th February 2007, 08:51 PM
just jap sell them for 1000 and you can choose a box that you want (within reason and price can vary) and the engine is complete with everything that bolts on standard.. i reckon its a good price

starni_boy

12th March 2007, 08:38 PM
dunno hey.. when i buy the engine lol. im getting my t50 and gbox stays soon aswell. i have still got to buy more suspension.
cusco caster arms
trailing arms
whiteline swaybars
and i am thinking about quaife quickracks. my brother is going over to the UK soon so he could probably get them over there for cheaper than usual. i worked it out and it will work out to be around $280 for them.

gottago
12th March 2007, 09:18 PM
im thinking quick rack and p/s arms too. for the extra lock and 2.5 lock to lock turns http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

rumour has it its a bit harder to steer, but im pretty sure the quicker turning and more lock would be all u care about really...

what panhard rod u get? what brand and how much?

what trailing arms you want to buy? not using stock ones? why?

starni_boy
13th March 2007, 07:46 AM
i got the whiteline panhard. was like $125 i think. its all adjustable and everything. looks good aswell. im thinking about the tune agent trailing arms. just for the fact that they are adjustable, and that they would probably be a lot stronger. i gave my list of parts to yates the other day, he will hopefully work some magic on prices..
