original hole for ae71

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/817/1000150gh4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

template i cut out of a old oil container, plastic then painted with flat black to that it coulc be scrashed threw in the inside for cutting

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3115/1000152pm0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

holes drill for the bolts and a series of smaller holes drilled around the mark, still needs to be rounded and smoothed with a round file

http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/8802/1000151ao1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

template bolted on to ae71, shows where it needs to be cut/drilled etc..

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/126347.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

further explanation with ke70, only a sight fileing is needed now, have the master handy so you know exactly where more needs taking off, no point fileing like mad if you dont have to...

Good Guide. Nice work with the template.

Just as a suggestion for an even neater result, use a hole saw. I cant recall what size it is 25mm or 32mm perhaps. Some paint on the exposed metal from cutting the hole, would be wise too to ensure it never rusts.

just a note for all you hole-saw uses, make sure you use this stuff called "tapmaster", its a cutting oil of somekind, use it when you make threads with taps. its basically a lubricant and also gives a much nicer cut, and cools everything down to avoid the fire business.

used it yesterday when cutting a hole for a mates intercooler, worked a treat.

Haha stupid cheap holes saw's. I ended up drilling mine and using a deburring tool thing that fits in a drill to clean it up, Fits nice now and looks clean as. I made my template from aluminum and it used the studs from the brake master to line every thing up.

OMG get a pic up of where the hole is, you shouldn't have to mod anything to get it to fit. get a pic up we'll see if there is a solution.

FYI i got my first one wrong http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif don't stress its salvagable.

yeah here is the my pic of the clutch hole. im using ae86 clutch if that makes a difference to the ae71 pedal and bracket. so is it in the wrong position or anything??

looks like its too far right.

i'm a little confused!?!?!?! so you aren't using the AE71 pedal box/pedal

you are using the 86 one?

how are you using the pedal bracket as i'm certain the 86 pedal bracket can't be used.

how did you come to the decision that where you have drilled the holes is the required location, like what measuring or whatever did you do?

^^ that sounds a bit rude, its not the way it is intended to sound i just can't think of another way to word it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

also what doesn't fit? is it the clutch master or the 86 pedal bracket? if its the pedal bracket that won't fit, its not supposed too http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif 71 pedal box is the only bolt in option

ohhh... i used the template that AE71 posted up and upsized it with my works photocopier. so that dickhead in the wreckingyard told me the wrong information. i told him i needed an ae71 clutch bracket and he said that the ae86 would fit fine. what a shithead. now does anyone have a ae71 clutch bracket they want to sell??

Gilly
30th January 2007, 10:27 AM
it can be made to fit, but requires some fab work and is definately out of most peoples league.

i personally wouldn't even try to attempt it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

i just put a wanted add up, got no responses this time, worked the time before that though http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

i'll keep an eye out

dunno could be the pic but it looks a little too far right. all good anyway, completely for got i'll have the 86 shell here, i 'll just pop the master off and do my own template. thanks for the offer though much appreciated http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

its alright.. i think its a bit high aswell because i had to cut the standard clutch hole thing off. you know on the ke70s how the clutch hole sticks out?? was i meant to cut it off??

Gilly
30th January 2007, 10:55 AM
its been a while but i do remember snapping off the bit you are talking about, i think it was for the clutch cable, mines auto so i can't confirm what it was for but yeah i did remove it. yeah its probably fine, like i said its a been a while since i've done one!! doesn't really matter if its not, fit the 71 pedal box up when you find one and suss it out. my first one was out by a bit but its easily fixed. the firewall doesn't really play a part in the mounting it just sits between the master and pedal box. you can always cut a plate like a gasket so to speak to go between the master and firewall to cover any holes etc. it shouldn't be thick enough to interefe with clutch master actuation, if it is its adjustable anyway. i know that last bit sounds a bit tech. you don't need to worry. if your clutch does play up (highly doubtful) if you decide to use the plate to cover holes pm me and i'll sort you out

Im doing this at the moment.

I removed the steering rack and the old ke70 pedal box last nite. (easy job)

And have made a templated from a AE86 shell.

I am going to use this idea of yours as its a very neat way to make the hole like.

Hopefully it will all work!!

i had to open my pic in paint for it to print actual size. i don't know if everyones pc will have to do that but if yours keeps printing out to fit the whole page do it in paint.

thanks AE71 you've saved me some fkning around http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif
