bloody hell 4got about this thread.....
ummmm downgraded to 6kg in front 4.5kg in rear.......
that was a month or 2 ago..

then had a mega hard gutter hit, turned my whitline adjustable p/h rod into a bananna... is currently labled "ban stick" at ajps.....

after the gutter hit decided to bite the bullet, got coilovers made up and in, braided break lines, BRAND new disks and rotors for the front along with a whole lot of other little things which i cant remember.....

all she needs now is new idler arm, front swaybar and rebuild the box then a good wheel allignment and she will b mint. untill the next gutter comes outta no where anyway....................

to b continued

one thing i love about steering box is the massive lock you get for free!!! woot

i perfure the feeling of rack and penut but for the mucking around a reco'd steering box or a mint condition one should be good enough, once you get used to it its fine. my mates t-18 has mass steering play, when i first drive it i was wondering how the hell he kept it on the road but now im fine with it..

yeah, Aaron is talking about my t18 lol.

You just get used to it, in my opinion the fucking around isnt worth the hektik rack and peanut points yo!

I think you can also tighten up the steering box? To eliminate freeplay?

Im going to have a fiddle this week with mine because it is pretty sloppy. Im just used to it though, doesnt effect me.

Yes steering boxes can be adjusted, but they become very darty, even harder to keep on the road than a sloppy one.

just kgo reco'd one.

no wonder toyota changed all corollas for the better from the t18 on

Bustin_86

Yeah fair enough.

Quick, lets put shitter diffs in! Oh, those 3tc motors, way to powerful. Make it 1.3, but keep the shitty pushrods. Crossflow? Thats for pussies! REAL gangsters have the carby sitting right on top of the exhaust. Inlet temps? No problems, not like the car makes more 30 hp anyway. Oh, while were at it, lets keep the wack square front lights, but add two doors and a body that looks as mismatched as a bucket of playdough at a colour blind kids convention. Woo! improvement!

Narr just playin', corolla's after the t18 did have some improvements, namely rack and peanut and a stiffer chassis... but they also went backwards in a few ways... unless if you mean Sprinters, which I suppose are a improvement all 'round. I AM biased though...

Love them or hate them, t18s are fun to drive http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I love my T-18 and it is a rust bucket piss of shit that sounds like a deisel, the radio doesnt work, makes so many squeeks and groans, is fking near impossible to drive in a shopping centre carpark but it gets side ways and no one else in my town has one or understands why i have a piss of shit. But thats why i love it.

paulie
12th June 2007, 07:07 PM
t-18s have the batter motors out of the lot... thats about it... they are the ugliest ever corolla... jay if u want a good slider, go rack and peanut....

kewagon
12th June 2007, 07:20 PM
steering boxs are great in my opininon, you get use to them and when i first drove a ke70 i was liek whats with this steering, why is it going were i steer it when i steer it??

you tighten steering boxs with the nut and the bolt with the cut in the top of it but dont overtighten it cause if you do the box will seize up so only do it a little at a time and test it, keep the box, dont get a rack

RobertoX

shitter diffs i will agree with that but not like it makes a difference

i ran my turbo with ke70 for the whole time no issues

4ac is a step up from 3tc, not 'xf' flow but OHC, , even my wagon drags off jhs 3tc with weber and exhaust

the ae71 had proper headlights with h4 bulbs

2 doors = practicality etc

to quote wheels in 82

'the t18 is the type of car to please posers and dissapoint drivers'

case closed steering box ftl

RobertoX
12th June 2007, 09:04 PM
word on the grape vin not even

about 200 for a rebuilt box

but its like 500 to rebuild a 4ac, when a 4age is 900

Bustin_86
12th June 2007, 09:10 PM

hhmmm, i still dont get why yo cant skid with a steering box..? sterring box would be more suited to sligaty than rack because of the lock, grip would be more suited to rack because of the responce but less need for lock...

Steering box = wak but useable for lazy fucks ( like me ).
