Hello people

as the title states.. if you find something usefell. tell us about it.

basiaclly state product/tool/part that you like to use. then state its purpose and/or why you find it usefull

i will start off.

MOTOSPRAY - vinyl paint (i used satin black) - found it easy to apply and the end product came up really good. even when you paint on too thick (about to drip) after it dries it looks perfect like the rest.

AJPS ftw.

Ratchet set with 10, 12, 14, 17 and 19mm sockets, extensions, etc. Very little you can't fix with that stuff.

Good, heavy hammer and/or mallet. Screwdrivers too sometimes to get into tight places.

WD40.

2nding for zip ties.

Also i would recommend Magnet trays.. come in very handy. easier to keep bolts and nuts in order and from getting lost.

i did use the slip on ones. i found them quite easily as i remember where i put them http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

nah its hard to tell how much lock they added as i fitted p/s arms at the same time. i will say this though the two combined give insane lock. i had to further mod the front of my guards and bash in a seam at the rear of the inner guard if that makes sense .that is with the castor pulled all the way forward.

i'll try to remember to get pics, its a lot of lock!!

For rust/crash fixing:
-Mig welder (also used for fucked bolts http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif)
-Bog
-Crashed panels
-Primer filler (dont fucking skimp on this bit! its the secret to a better finish!)

-Halogen lights on stands (acts as a great light source, and keeps you warm)

For Mechanical work:
-Star stake (best way to remove struts from LWC's!)
-Big fuck off pimp pole for those breaker bars (leverage=win)
-Hydraulic jack
-Rattle gun. Suck it in and get one
-Single hex sockets in bigger sizes (12,14,16,17,19)

ive got some of those magnet trays but what i do now when i work on cars is glad snap lock bags, and write with a nikko on the front what the bolts are or what ever, like when you take your dash off have dash left and right , when you do your suspension and leave it over night its good so bolts dont dissapear.

I use thin post it notes to lable wiring

I always have some mozzy coils handy because when ever i work on my car they come in droves

I wear white overalls, so when i work in the sun i dont die.

A radio or music to keep me sane.

Lots of cordial

Dish washing liquid and a bucket of sand to wash hands

buy bulk bags of rags, 25 bucks seems expensive but they last over 6 months and having a clean rag when ever you want one is a wonderful feeling.

i dont really like wd40, its got a gay spray on it and just sucks dick, i use the valvoline shite, bit cheaper too.

bulk buy degreaser in 5L containers and fill a garden weed sprayer, pump it up and say good bye to grease, I have a photo my mate took the other day somewhere, i was wearing my white over alls and had the weed sprayer on my back, looked like ghost busters kinda.

A good punch set and a balanced well weighted hammer makes life easier.

I usually have big tubs of nuts and bolts that ive gathered over time and always find what im looking for in there.

Plenty of loctite to stop shit vibrating lose, especially when a 4age is on the pipe.

when im welding i always have a damp rag with me

a white paint pen

thats all i can think of,

it would be great if someone had some handy tips on getting rid of insomnia, i did nightshift for a while and havnt had good sleep since.

Magnetic trays??
Just keep the lids off those empty spray cans and such that you throw away.
Perfect small part holders.

two words- "death mallet". i dont care how much wd40 u wanna waste tryin to get that bolt loose or whatever.... just smash shit wit a death mallet and it'l happen for u... be sure to get the heaviest mallet u can find as it will hit everything alot harder... therefor increasing the "death mallets" fatalities....
ps. i can not be held accountable for any injuries/more damage u cause whilst wielding ur own death mallet... u'v been warned

My advice: only buy a house with a flat paved driveway. Do not use your emergency jack when on cobble stones.

And in the garage, replace the single globe light with 100 fluro tubes. Make it bright like inside Woolsworth. If you are having the garage built, get the floor "pool finnished" smooth flat like at gas stations. Then paint the floor with the stuff they used at your local Toyota dealership.

Get a 20 litre drum of brake cleaner. And a wurth squirter bottle thing. Be like a real mechanic and make grease disapear with a squirt.

Don't stuff around. You NEED a solid bench, and the biggest bench vice you can afford. Do not make the bench top from a hollow house door.

True that - my sill bears the scar.

Good Jack is a must - even a $120 supershit item will be a big help.
Impact Sockets - save your arse on many occasions when you round shit off.

I feel bad for bringing up all these old topics, but they're so good, keep em coming guys!

My addition - get rid of the mrs for less whining about car/her ratio and more cash! (recently did this, works a treat :D)

MEK aka plumbing priming fluid. (you can get clear stuff)
works great at removing gasket goo, silicone ect
just go over the surface with a scraper then tip a bit on a rag and give it a rub. comes straight off with little effort.

when you buy your sockets make sure you ONLY buy single hex sockets. you should never round a nut or bolt ever again

double hex = rounded bolt followed by swearing and then anger

Buy lots of Beer.

It has an almost magical ability to make helpful people appear at your door, ready to help you sit there and look at your car and think up creative ways to destroy it, while it stits there on jack stands not starting.
