well after a bit of mucking around with mine, i finally figured it out this morning. i must have had some brain issues the day i was trying to nut it out as i had sussed this mornig in 5 minutes http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

anyway description of how to wire a 4AGE alternator (JDM, AE82, AE92. not sure about 20v or ZE)

out of the 4AGE alternator you should have a

white
yellow
red with blue

and the thick B+ battery cable also white

on the KE70 you have the 2 plug connector

white (thick)
yellow

i used the original KE70 plug to neaten things up (loom side) not alternator plug.

thick white off the alternator to thick white at KE70 plug

i stripped back the thin white wire and spliced and soldered it to the thick white one. this is a 12v reference signal so its fine to be linked with this wire as it alwys has power.

the red and blue wire on the alternator side joins to the yellow and white wire on the KE70 plug side. this is a 12v ignition signal used to turn the alternator charge light on when the ignition is turned on. when the alternator starts charging it turns off.

the yellow wire i wired to an external ignitioon signal. i used the original ke70 coil positive as it is ignition switched and is neat enough. it is located near the battery, you'll find it.

thats how i wired mine and it works sweet

i'd put a pic of the wiring but its using different colour wires to extend the loom as i only had the alternator plug. add to that i'd have to unwrap it as well and ithink the above description explains it well enough.
