This is actualy a fairly big topic, and I will add more stuff and advice on how to deal with Spare Parts guys at your local (un)friendly Toyota dealership. For now, I will list common parts you may want to buy which are probably avaliable, and less common parts for GT spec. Others can add what price they paid and who they talked to, so others can know what to expect. But if you are armed with a ID plate, a Toyota parts man should be able to get almost anything. Many parts are different between early model and late model, and the date change is 8505 (May 1985). But many other mechanical parts have been changed at different dates.

Price:
I have put up the suggested list price, which maybe out of date by a few months or years.

JDM parts, most not in Europe or America:
####-#### Apex/Levin/Trueno rear stickers. Lots of colors, combos etc...
81210-12030 fog lamp, RH late model levin apex
81220-12020 fog lamp, LH late model levin apex
81550-1A230 RH tail light, early levin 3D (lotus)
81550-1A231 RH tail light, late levin 3D (whiteline)
81611-12290 RH park light, late levin

81550-1A291 RH tail light, late trueno 3D (redline)
81560-1A291 LH tail light, late trueno 3D (redline)
75803-12070 centre moulding, late trueno 3D (redline)
81270-12320 lamp assy, licence plate. all JDM except late 2D

... I can't be bothered posting up all body parts right now.

Just for fun, fuel pumps...

23220-16070 AE86 fuel pump (EFI)
23220-16080
23220-16082
23220-16083
23220-19015
23220-16190
23249-43080
23220-16084

All these numbers are for AE86 in-tank fuel pump. (Pump only, no bracket) Either Denso or Aisan, and seam to have been updated every year. But use the same bracket.

The exact same pump is also for:
RT142 Corona (22R-E)
AE82 Corola (4A-GE)
AW11 MR2
MA61 Supra
RA65 Celica
ST16# Celica (3S-GE)
SV11 Camry
SV21 Camry
GX71/MX7# Cressida
MS123 Crown
YR20/22 Tarago
FJ62 Landcriuser (3FE)
4-Runner (with 22RE or 3VZE)

23249-43080 This pump is listed for AE86, but is also listed for:
AW11 MR2 (4A-GZE)
ST165 Celica (3S-GTE)
MA70 Celica (7M-GTE)
and some bigger stuff like that. I can't say it is better, maybe it is the same. But it would be the one to order I guess for a factory fit, and possiably flow some more?

I just looked up the steering rack and pinion and housing. AE86 is exactly the same as KE70 and AE71. If there is a difference, it is because our KE70's are made in Australia, maybe with a localy supplyed rack.

I bought a brand new one recently of thanhngo who had got it from Toyota but never bothered to fit it. Not sure how long ago he got it.

I had previously bought an AE82 twin cam one and bent it up to suit (many years ago).

Jonny Rochester

OK, just ordered the fuel line now! ^^ I changed the part number to the earlier one and it was already on the aussie system due to thanhngo previously having ordered it. Still has to come from Japan but, 4 weeks.

I believe almost everything is available, even if you are told it is not. Just need to sus out the system. Will post about it soon. Most Toyota parts guys in Australia believe their computer too much and think its linked to a world system. Fact is they are on a aussie toyota network, and JDM part numbers will not come up unless someone has ordered it before. There are ways....

I went into Melbourne City Toyota the other day looking for a few obscure things armed with a JDM compliance plate. It was clearly all a bit too hard near the end of the day and the guy wasn't too keen and nothing was available. Especially keen on the handbrake surround rubber in the centre console which I would have thought available, and the burgundy clock surround. Lesson - find another parts guy.

Thanks for that. I still have some parts to order, its good to know someone else has got these parts before. It means the number will work and can be ordered without drama.

^^ Your clutch master is wrong, thats a FWD Celica part no. No big deal.

About the prices I put up, only a very rough guide. Some do not include GST, or outdated, some maybe my special price, others may attract a shipping fee etc.

thanhngo
23rd April 2007, 02:01 AM
Hehe yeah, I think thats why I got my JDM bored and resleeved with SS...it won't be rusting anytime soon. But I do have a JDM bellhousing if that makes any difference but I can't verify the clutch cyclinder as I used mine existing one.

Most of my prices are retail, trade with GST included. I never paid shipping fees though (that I noticed). Definitely good to know actual prices so people know.

It seams Not Available can mean different things. No stock in Australia? No rear bar covers are going to be made again in Japan or anywhere, forever? I don't know, there would be a new one sitting in a dealership somewhere in the world. I guess you could call a dealership in NZ and pretend to be a local, and see what they could get. I looked up a front bumper once and got a price but was told I couldn't get it. (Needed price for insurance quote).

Does toyota do what Nissan does with parts prices? From what I can gather every year a part gets older/less available Nissan up the price.
Case in point, R31 skyline bumper skins have gone from $96+gst to $196+gst in the last 4 years.

Hope they don't....

Jonny Rochester

The bushes are mostly the same for any AE86 and KE70. Your local dealer can look them up easily. But not sure how easy they are to get. I got the numbers for you anyway. Personaly I have used polyurathane, Nolathane or SuperPro. Depends what feel your after. Note that you can get TRD bushes also, which are also black rubber. Maybe they are stiffer (not as stiff as polyurathane), or maybe they just cost more?

Front bushes:
48654-12010 lower control arm
48674-19058 or -12040 radius rod kit
48603-12010 RH strut top GT (more caster)
48609-12100 LH strut top GT
48603-12040 RH strut top SR (less caster)
48609-12130 LH strut top SR
48815-14140 D bushes
48817-20020 link bushes

Rear bushes:
48706-14010, 90385-20001, 90386-20001 panhard rod
4-link bushes, not a part, need to get whole arms.
48815-22100 D-bushes
90385-11021, and 48817-12010 link bushes

I have a old version of Toyota EPC. It goes from about 1979 to 1995, and is mostly for Europe, USA, Australia, Middle East. It does not cover Japan only models. But if you think about it, the only part numbers I don't get are for GTV stickers, Apex stickers, redline taillight, red flare on the kick pannel, electric windows. Thats about it.

I have a hard copy for KE30/TE37/TE51 etc parts. Also Euro, USA, Australia etc. Some parts are the same, good to double check.

I also have the TRD Corolla Bible. More for reference, probably not much use to order parts.

Hopefully I have a newish version of Toyota EPC in the mail, for Japan vehicles.

Went to another Toyota dealer today. What a laugh. After being told "we usually move people on who want import stuff, it just isn't worth it" when i pulled out a JDM build plate, he made a bit more effort.

Mind you I was in there for more than 20 minutes whilst he wrung his hands, pulled his hair, cursed and swore etc etc . Yes I am serious.

Anyway, the guy is trying to order a few things in. Apparently he requests an order from Sydney who then see if it is available via japan and then list it which enables the order to proceed! Sigh.

Anyway, have tried to order the burgundy clock bezel (colour 02 has been superceded by 12). Have actually ordered 2 as they are only $12 each and the dash will surely come out again sometime in the future. And if it is this hard to order them.....

Have also ordered the 5 tooth speedo gear per Jonny's other speedo drive thread. The 22 tooth plastic gear on shaft was available (2 in Brisbane) but cost $49 so i might have a look at a few KE70's first.

I have finally sourced some 14 inch Intra wheels (factory 14 x 6's) and am trying to order the Toyota caps that fit them. They may be a bit of a challenge.

Anyway shall update this when I hear back in about three weeks.

So I have a more recent version of the Toyota EPC now, and Japanese area version also. Some interesting things I can confirm:

There was a GT model in Japan with T series rear end and drum brakes. Avaliable both early and late, and with a LSD option. Axles are different for the LSD (a bit shorter), and late axles are different to early ones of course. Early GT rear end would be exactly the same a TE72.

The AE85 actualy has a K50 transmission, not the T50.

Early JDM interias are all maroon or blue, not black. Late model interia is mostly black.

Early GTV 3D did not have a rear wiper.

Power windows only on late model Apex, not early ones.

The JDM AE86 did not have a oil cooler. The oil cooler was only a option in Europe. The 20valve did not have a oil cooler either.

On the GTV you can see a small bit of carpet between the gear stick and the hand brake. Not a full centre console.

after being pushed back for trying to order trd engine mounts from my local toyota dealer (even through trade) didnt worry me, got them elsewhere
but parts like final drives (5.175) i kinda need to order through them http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

so, how do you plan your attack to the gimpy parts guy just shuts u down?

Jonny Rochester
15th May 2007, 01:34 AM
All Toyota dealers can get TRD parts in theory, but some just don't know how. The TRD part numbers are not going to come up on the same system obviously, and if the dealer does not normaly do TRD they will have to ring around. Penrith Toyota (http://www.penrithtoyota.com.au/) are one of the best at getting TRD stuff. They have adversited this in magazines for years, and have a small TRD display at the parts counter (not just hats and shirts).

Jonny Rochester
15th May 2007, 02:02 AM
You can't go to Toyota and just ask for a 5.175:1 diff ratio, the system is not setup like that. You have to know what vehicle the part is off, and they would prefer to have your exact VIN number. We have the EPC at home these days so can look it up and just give them the number. Parts men are not smart, thats why I am doing some background work.

The T series diffs only came in these ratios, 3.727:1, 3.909:1, 4.1:1, 4.3:1 and a few more, in Toyota cars.

TRD make available these ratios:
41201-TA001 4.625:1
41201-TA002 4.875:1
41201-TA003 5.125:1
41201-AE851 5.375:1
these are not Toyota numbers, they are TRD.

mc68
15th May 2007, 11:48 PM
I know that! i had the part numbers, and have a fair few vins to choose from (hush hush)..

but yeah, do u suggest going thorugh my local toyota or just ringing up penrith direct?

Toyota final diff gears for t-series: (taken from club4ag) but I have checked the 4.7 and you can order it from dealers for ~$600 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/fap.gif

41201-29406 3.308
41201-29287 3.583
41201-29227 3.727
41201-29237 3.909
41201-29197 4.100
41201-29207 4.300
41201-29626 4.556
41201-29637 4.778

above this will be TRD and the likes as Jonny says.

Anyway shall update this when I hear back in about three weeks.[/b]

So 6 weeks later they finally arrived. Guy was very helpful today. This time he tells me they usually move people on because "we don't get trained in this stuff". But because I made an effort, knowing in advance the actual part numbers I wanted and having a Jap GTV build plate he was happy to help. He still checked them all though. Two of the caps arrived within a week, the other two took much longer. Funnily enough, a reasonable used set came up on ebay whilst I was waiting to hear if new ones where available, so got them too for $25! Just in case.

If interested, the centre caps for the option 14 x 6 Intra wheels are part no. 42603-12340 $23.19 each

The 5 tooth speedo drive gear is 33481-12030 $60.85

Hopefully that will pay for itself by not getting a speeding ticket. Just need to find the 19 tooth plastic gear now. (looks hopefully Jonny's way)

After ordering a few bits and bobs I can now say I have had in my hand and touched everything I have tried to order. Success! Including some random "JDM" bits I was previoulsy told were not available. This includes little brake lines, fuel lines, stickers, rubber boots, relays etc. I am more confident I can get almost anything Toyota. It's just that Japan is a long way away, and the parts counter at the dealership is the biggest stumbling block. It is handy to have the same EPC on your own computer.

I will have a go at getting the bottles and other stuff people had trouble with sometime.

Toyota part numbers are 10 digits, like this: 00000-00000.
Often the part number will not be written on the actual part, but sometimes it is. There are often other manufacturing numbers on parts, some of which we will never know what they mean.

What an awesome thread. I just read all 4 pages. lets keep it going.

JDM rwd big port alternator part number please, most of my sticker is busted but i make it out to be something like
2706 0 1 6 0 ? 0

Or is there a straight swap alternative. I searched google but nothing seriously stood out at me.

Jonny Rochester
11th August 2007, 01:03 PM
27060-16010

27060-16090
27060-16011
27060-16012
27060-16091

Any one of these numbers will be a alternator for a RWD 4A-GEU. I know a dirrect swap is the alternator from a 20 valve, except the electrical plug is probably different. Oval instead of round.

Yeh they are but there is nothing Rocket about them. You are mistaking Rocket with Rocker covers, however there are no rockers to cover on a 4ag.
The actual name for these covers are "Cylinder head covers", commonly called cam covers on OHC engines. Ergo the chrome nuts you are talking about are called, " Cap nuts for cylinder head cover"

#90176-06012 is for 1 cap, 4ag 16v requires 8.
It is also worth replacing the washers underneath.
#90201-10344 "plate washer for cylinder head set" They are ~$1 each.

The studs these screw into also torque down the cam bearings.
#90109-06079 bolt studs

with persistance, there is very little that you can't order from toyota ADM or JDM. parts guys don't like ordering from japan cos of the system. like jonny stated before, availability and price can only be give on parts that have already been in australia, "Not on file" only means nobody has ordered one into aus so it's not on the system. the process to get part onto the system involes bouncing E-mail between your dealership, sydney and japan.
which can take upto 3 weeks just to add part to the system so you can get a price and availability, then expect another 3 weeks to get here from the motherland. in the meantime (2 months) if the customer changes thier mind, the dealership is owns a(usually expensive and) unwanted part.

Having said that, a friend of mine has successfully ordered lower and upper sumps with pick-up for a JZX81(to convert supra/soarer sourced 1JZ to front sump) through my dealership.

best bet is to try finding a dealership that deals regularly with imports, be pesistant and offer a deposit on any items "not on file". add peice of mind to your parts guy knowing he won't get stuck with a bunch of JDM huchi parts that he has little chance of reselling.

Your number is correct. Same both for left and right, power steer and manual, AE86 and KE70, ADM and JDM as far as I can see.

But these are cheaply available in generic brands at Burson and Repco and you won't need to quote the number.

*WARNING* to all gt-apex jdm owners this 45503-19015 is not the right part number. Our cars require shorter rack ends. I found out the hard way after ordering that part LOL oh wells hard lesson learned. What i did was then take off my existing rack ends and bring them into bursons / repco / toyota spare parts and got them to go find a match up. I will see if i can find the packaging and hence source the part number that is required.

Shifter Re-Build Kit

watch ae86 special episode 8 and it will show you how to change these items.

just to let you all know better get in quick if you want to replace the seals in your gearshift.

33548-14010 plastic bush on gear lever *this part is no longer available i will go to another toyota to check it again. as i was intending to replace these essential shifting parts.

33556-14010 plastic bush at seat of gear stick; is still available (this gets worn out to nothing over time)

33556-14020 is the seal beneath the plastic bush seat

check if these are worn is put it into any gear and you shake your gearstick side to side and if there is significant movement you will need to change this.

t3 makes these kits also for $37 US
but concidering at toyota its just as cheap.

any know the difference between the adm and jdm master cylinder/brake bias?
my rears tend to lock up 1st under heavy braking, would it be the piston and springs?

i gave toyota parts (tullamarine) a call and they have 4 master cylinders listed but only 1 type available ($760 new).

The difference is not the master cylinder, but the rear brake pressure limiting device down near the chassis rail.

It sounds like you are using drum brakes on a disk brake car? Try using a valve off a ADM car.

Or, buy a adjustable rear brake pressure valve from your local speed shop.

The JDM brake Master is actually different than the ADM one. e.g. the bolt pattern on an ADM is horizontal and JDM is 45 degrees (from memory). The JDM is black painted and ADM are tarnished but probably rusted :P. Actually the ADM are what i've seen on AE85. I think of real differences, its the same portioning at the master but they are indeed different parts. Maybe the JDM provides a stronger booster as it looks slightly bigger.

Portional valve seems to make more of a difference though than swapping master & booster.

parrot

I've pulled apart a JDM (definite) MC and a ADM master and they are identical other than the bolt pattern of the sleeve, vertical 45 degrees (JDM) rather than horizontal (ADM). The USDM ones have the same configuration as ADM although the line out the front goes up at 90 degrees from the end of the MC and the pipe from the reservoir is on the opposite side. Can easily be fitted to ADM though, and very cheap on US ebay. I actually bought a USDM one for $59 to strip out & rebuild my Jap one.

Re boosters, ADM all seem to be Aisin (Gold colour) and JDM Nissin Kogyo (black). Can't comment on the boosters feel/activity as mine has yet to hit the road again.

Ive seen plenty of JDM cars with the Aisin booster like ours. depends on plant of manufacture I think. Aisin ftw with easy cylinder upgrades.

yeah youre right however the one here is a Nissin one

how many plants does toyota have in japan?

Jonny Rochester
23rd April 2008, 03:28 AM
Lots of Toyota factories in Japan, but about 80% of AE86s were built in the Tahara factory in the Aichi prefecture. About 20% of AE86s were built in the Huzi Azuma factory in the Shizuoka prefecture.

A plant code of A54 or A52 refers to the Tahara factory, and the frame number will start with zero. AE86-0000001 is the first one.

A plant code of M21 means it was built in the Huzi Azuma factory. The frame number will start with 50. eg: AE86-5034562

But this makes no difference. I don't know of any AE86 parts that were affected by what factory they came from.

All AE86 (twincams) in Japan had the Aisin brake booster and matching master cylinder from May 83 to Dec 83. Then from Dec 83 onwards they had the Nissin booster with the angled stud pattern.

The Australian AE86 had the exact same part as the early JDM one, the Aisin.

(AE85 had different part numbers again, never mind that).

19101-16040 cap
19102-16040 rotor

The cap is not the same as anything else, except some other RWD 4A-GE in corona/celica/carina.
The rotor is the same as other bigport 4A-GE, plus 1S motors and Y series motors.

I should start charging for this service. Actualy, in Hobart the dealership tell people to ring me. I could probably take all this info down so small businesses can make money selling stuff.

Ive another part number challenge for you mr Rochester.

Just wondering if genuine AE71 or AE86 rack bushes are still available. I have a quaife quick rack with a little up down play Id like to get rid of.

Same part for AE86 and KE70? If they arent available in genuine parts then does anyone know who does them?

Much appreciated EPC champs.

Ru-iki:

45522-10021 bush, steering rack (not for power steering) Same as AE71, KE70.

I have bought one in the last few years, so still availalbe. About $40.

You want this single bush. It presses into the left side of the rack housing. On the right side of the rack, the rack/pinion contact is spring loaded. The pinion is suported by two ball bearing races, and the preload is adjustable with a big shifter or SST or something.

I too have a knock in the lhs of my rack, also when i finish a corner the steering wont centre properly, it'll pull slightly to the direction you have just turned untill you drive straight for maybe 50-100m and its ok again, i'm assuming the bush is just worn to the max. I have like 3 degrees of castor so wont be castor related.

Also i wonder if you can get window trims?
