View Full Version : daily ke70

3rd July 2007, 04:56 PM
hi guys,
this is going to be the wife's daily, i saved it from the wreckers today :2thumbs:
i'll get some pics soon,
1983 gold/tan ke70
13 inch hayashi rims (kinda cool)

its nothing special...except for the diff, it looks like a s-series but it has no swaybar mounts
it also has a custom 1 piece tailshaft too!

plans aren't too full on just springs/shocks, nice interior and then MAYBE an engine conversion.
i was thinking maybe a 1nzfe (1.5L echo motor) cause its got 80kw but is good on fuel.

oh and there's only a liiittle bit o rust (y)

3rd July 2007, 04:59 PM
sweet cant wait til the pics are up

3rd July 2007, 07:20 PM

^^word^^ :D, 1nzfe sounds interesting (y)

4th July 2007, 10:23 AM
i'll get pics when i can get the camera off the boss :P

i was tinkering last night and found that the heater pipe that returns to the motor has a chunk of water pump housing in it  (1 more reason to change the motor)

5th July 2007, 05:11 PM
was at the wreckers trying to find out what my diff is from, i found one sorta similar off a ke25,
the thing is it has leaf spring mounts....i hope its not a ke25 diff

5th July 2007, 10:57 PM
why do oyu need another diff? a ke70/ae71 borg warner is very cheap and easy to find if you need to replace it.

6th July 2007, 10:23 AM
i don't need another diff, i'm just hoping that the one i have is better than the standard one (y)

6th July 2007, 12:57 PM
Dude, pics of hayashis stat :D

13th July 2007, 09:30 AM
well the whole 1nzfe idea just got thrown out the window cause i just bought a sr20de, lol.
i'm getin a camera on the weekend :greenbounce:

13th July 2007, 10:16 AM
NOOOOO!!!!!@#%#$^@#&^ SR20DE :sleepy: BORING!

lol, yeah it's a better choice but inzfe would of been good to see done, ill just have to find a small RWD car one day to do it.

datsun 1000 1nzfe two door here i come :2thumbs:

13th July 2007, 10:40 AM
lol, yeah i know, it's bad but for the price i'm getin it for i'll be able to put up with a datsun motor (y)

15th July 2007, 12:53 PM

This car doesnt sound good on it's rev limit, valve bouncin, VERY LOUD!!!

25th July 2007, 12:56 PM
hehe, poor 4k :greenbounce:

3rd September 2007, 04:01 PM
still don't know what the diff is from (i may just get a ra60 diff instead)
i now have all the driveline bits ready to go in (sr20 + ca18 box + sr20 bell)

and i'm also putting a t18 pedal box in, the dash is all in bits

3rd September 2007, 05:02 PM
does the diff in it currently have leaf spring mounts?

if not, is it a borg warner, or a removable centre..

if removable centre count the number of bolts around the diff centre to housing and you will have your answer[/b]
no leaf spring mounts
removable centre
8 bolt
no swaybar mounts......no grinding marks.

oh yeah and i got some ae86 kingy's from medwin :2thumbs:

26th October 2007, 12:44 PM
still workin on it slowly, the wife's been busy sanding :greenbounce:

these are comin in a month or two :2thumbs:

26th October 2007, 01:03 PM
ahhhhh FUCKING HAWT!!!!!!!!

26th October 2007, 03:03 PM
lol, yeah there kinda cool (y)

i'll need to get some light sandpaper action onto them to clean the corrosion off. it should come up ok

26th October 2007, 03:13 PM
^^ No doubt, they'll look hot.

Also your diff is an S-series.

8 bolt removable center = S series
10 bolt removable center = T-series
Removable backing plate = Borg-Warner of some description.

26th October 2007, 04:09 PM
yeah that's what i'd come to relize aswell after seeing us_ae86's one i while back. i'm gettin a t-series now anyway :greenbounce:

4th December 2007, 04:03 PM

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/160421.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
i also used the factory sr20 engine mounts to bolt to these 1's.

i havnt done the box x-member yet.

i had to grind the crap outta the bellhousing ribbing and a bit of ribbing around the drivers side steering rack mount.

10th December 2007, 12:20 PM
the engine clearly fits neatly into your bro's car... :o

25th December 2007, 11:14 PM
I thought you gave up? Can't wait to see how it goes when your finished. I love driving my brothers pulsar with an sr20de, they are quick for what they are.

26th December 2007, 12:21 AM
Hilton: i'm too old for msn, lol.
if you got q's just ask away.....

yeah i gave up then un gaveup cause the normal daily is dying and i need to replace it

26th December 2007, 12:26 AM

can you show me actual pics of the engine mounts and show me better how you did it.

and how ar eyou going to do the gbox mounts?

and how many mm further back is the gearshifter?

and how much did your tailshaft set you back of have you not yet found out???

cheers mang.

26th December 2007, 12:32 AM
i'll get a pic of the eng mounts tomorrow,

i'll get a pic of the gbox mount aswell :greenbounce:

you should be able to tell by the pic how much further back the shifter is to standard.

i haven't got a price on a tailshaft yet (i'm gettin an ra60 diff put in first) my tailshaft is already a single piece so it should only cost around $3-400?

one thing i relised later (and fixed by accident) is that sr's mount on an angle which actually helps when mounting 1 into a ke70 because it brings the bottom of the motor away from the drivers side steering rack mount.

26th December 2007, 12:37 AM
oh nice.

ill ahve to talk to your more once im ready to put mine in.

thanks for that too btw

26th December 2007, 01:30 AM
you wifes car is going to be better than mine. nice car to

26th December 2007, 12:33 PM

26th December 2007, 12:45 PM

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/8671/photo0098jm6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

23rd January 2008, 03:10 PM
i scored myself a secondhand radiator for $30 yesterday, i had no idea what it was from but its a little bigger height/width than the ke70 item and is also a 4-CORE :greenbounce:

i went to natrad today to get it flushed and the guy told me its out of a old swb landcruiser......and that they are worth $500, you should have seen his face when i told him i paid $30 for it

it even has the outlets in the right spot for the SR!

23rd January 2008, 03:13 PM

28th February 2008, 04:18 AM

do you know if the rad was from a diesel cruiser or a petrol one?

28th February 2008, 11:12 AM
no idea.........

6th March 2008, 05:18 PM
my mate gave me a pair of the work equips, they also came with re88's lol. mine have black centres though. didnt know they were 800 a set though lol.

7th March 2008, 11:09 PM
Are you going to let your wife drive that car? I'm not trying to be picky but have you ever thought about cleaning up the metal before welding it, these parts of the car have alot of stress and a good weld is important, if you weld over shit and rust, that stays in the weld and makes it weak.
