hi guys,
this is going to be the wife's daily, i saved it from the wreckers today :2thumbs:
i'll get some pics soon,
specs:
1983 gold/tan ke70
4k/4spd
13 inch hayashi rims (kinda cool)

its nothing special...except for the diff, it looks like a s-series but it has no swaybar mounts
it also has a custom 1 piece tailshaft too!

plans aren't too full on just springs/shocks, nice interior and then MAYBE an engine conversion.
i was thinking maybe a 1nzfe (1.5L echo motor) cause its got 80kw but is good on fuel.

oh and there's only a liiittle bit o rust (y)

was at the wreckers trying to find out what my diff is from, i found one sorta similar off a ke25,
the thing is it has leaf spring mounts....i hope its not a ke25 diff

why do oyu need another diff? a ke70/ae71 borg warner is very cheap and easy to find if you need to replace it.

japlish
6th July 2007, 10:23 AM
i don't need another diff, i'm just hoping that the one i have is better than the standard one (y)

3rd September 2007, 05:02 PM
does the diff in it currently have leaf spring mounts?

if not, is it a borg warner, or a removable centre..

if removable centre count the number of bolts around the diff centre to housing and you will have your answer[/b]
no leaf spring mounts
removable centre
8 bolt
no swaybar mounts......no grinding marks.

oh yeah and i got some ae86 kingy's from medwin :2thumbs:

^^ No doubt, they'll look hot.

Also your diff is an S-series.

8 bolt removable center = S series
10 bolt removable center = T-series
Removable backing plate = Borg-Warner of some description.

japlish
26th October 2007, 04:09 PM
yeah that's what i'd come to relize aswell after seeing us_ae86's one i while back. i'm gettin a t-series now anyway :greenbounce:

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/160421.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
i also used the factory sr20 engine mounts to bolt to these 1's.

i havnt done the box x-member yet.

i had to grind the crap outta the bellhousing ribbing and a bit of ribbing around the drivers side steering rack mount.

26th December 2007, 12:26 AM
ok.

can you show me actual pics of the engine mounts and show me better how you did it.

and how ar eyou going to do the gbox mounts?

and how many mm further back is the gearshifter?

and how much did your tailshaft set you back of have you not yet found out???

cheers mang.

japlish
26th December 2007, 12:32 AM
i'll get a pic of the eng mounts tomorrow,

i'll get a pic of the gbox mount aswell :greenbounce:

you should be able to tell by the pic how much further back the shifter is to standard.

i haven't got a price on a tailshaft yet (i'm gettin an ra60 diff put in first) my tailshaft is already a single piece so it should only cost around $3-400?

one thing i relised later (and fixed by accident) is that sr's mount on an angle which actually helps when mounting 1 into a ke70 because it brings the bottom of the motor away from the drivers side steering rack mount.

i scored myself a secondhand radiator for $30 yesterday, i had no idea what it was from but its a little bigger height/width than the ke70 item and is also a 4-CORE :greenbounce:

i went to natrad today to get it flushed and the guy told me its out of a old swb landcruiser......and that they are worth $500, you should have seen his face when i told him i paid $30 for it

it even has the outlets in the right spot for the SR!

Are you going to let your wife drive that car? I'm not trying to be picky but have you ever thought about cleaning up the metal before welding it, these parts of the car have alot of stress and a good weld is important, if you weld over shit and rust, that stays in the weld and makes it weak.
