Aww come on... you love it ;)

I'll get better pics of mine up soon, dodgy Nokia phone camera doesn't do it justice. Also some damn good PCs out there, both specs-wise and looks-wise.

I was going to buy a ~$7000 system late last year, which would have been one of (at the time) the best around (was actually aiming to buy it about now): Quad-core Intel, ASUS Striker extreme board, a pair of 8800GTXs, 4GB RAM...

But then I bought the Sprinter :2thumbs:

PCs are like cars, spend shit loads on 'em, don't get anything back...

It was planned to be a gaming PC, with enough storage to last me... um... a couple of weeks :P lol I was planning on spending more on the grunt of the machine, than the storage, still wanted like 2TB for starters :D

Then I got out of gaming, got into the car, and it was downhill after that...

The gaping hole in the front is because I wasn't able to mount my 5" LCD properly, so I've given up 'til I can find a better way to do it. This is the LCD mounted:

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/150792.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Anode/PSOneLCD/Mounted/DSCN0154Large.jpg) http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/150793.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Anode/PSOneLCD/Mounted/DSCN0150Large.jpg) http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/150794.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Anode/PSOneLCD/Mounted/DSCN0145Custom.jpg)

Err, you can't use the G25 with the 360. Also, you really don't need to quote all the pics again either.

That's cool, as much as I did wish the 360 could be used with the G25 for Forza 2, was sad to find out that it can't.. With the amount of pull that game has to get people to buy a 360, it's a lot less likely to see a port to PC. If anyone hears anything though, tell me! :P

yeah that hydraulic cockpit is mad!

Thanks for the comments guys.

My G25 is compatible with the PS3. It's got full support in F1 2007 and for GTHD (PS3) and GT4 (PS2 Backwards Compatibility on my PS3) it uses the Driving Force Pro settings and works great. The only thing that doesn't currently work is the H-Pattern 6 Speed Shifter and Clutch as no games have support for them. The sequential works and is heaps of fun to use for fast shifting. It's upto the Game producers to add in support for the G25 and other wheels and it looks like they are starting to add support for all of the new games being released. Fingers crossed for GT5 with Clutch support! Microsoft will not support the G25 and you can only use their Wheel and Pedals which doesn't even compare to this G25 *Those MS Bastards!*

Well, gotta get back to my drifitng in GT4 using my tuned 86 :P

I love that setup man... I've thought about investing in a G25 since they came out... of course I've thought about investing in a lot of things for my PC...

Or a door stop. Or a reason to buy a new one :D

The most likely component to fail in those machines is the hard drive, Maxtor drives are absolute rubbish and die more than any other type of drive.

$7k on a computer! in like 2 weeks it would be worth like less than half the value[/b]

PCs are like cars, spend shit loads on 'em, don't get anything back...

[/b]

Ahhh but a classic car will be worth more in the future, whereas a classic computer is only good for throwing out a car window at 120 into more hard rubbish!!!!

microwaves are good too

^But not all classic cars make smart investments, unfortunately :( . Sprinters sure did though, anyone else remember a time when you weren't interested in them even though they were cheap as?

Which brings me to my point, aren't old compys collectible? Like the really old ones and' shit?

Sure are! You should see the collection we have in the store now, we have an Amiga, a Commodore 64, an old Bigfoot hard drive (5.25" in size only a few hundred MB in size). I think we have a couple of Apple 2s coming in too...

They aren't worth much (yet) but they are pretty cool to have around when you are an enthusiast :2thumbs:

Fark.

I'm about this close to getting a new system hey...

AMD Athlon X2 6000+, ASUS X-Hair Gamer Motherboard, a few gigs of RAM, and nVidia 8800GTX 768MB video card, an Antec Sonata 3 case, plus something like a Western Digital Raptor 74GB boot drive, Windows Vista Ultimate. A couple of grand worth, put it on finance....

it's a shame that I'm already paying off my car audio on finance, plus a phone, credit card, and another semester of uni... and we won't mention the car will I

1. By Q4 2007 (Xmas) NVIDIA will be releasing their GeForce 9800 series GPUs.
Unlike previously expected the codename for nVidia's next generation GPU will NOT be "G90" but instead be "G92".

I have some info form NVIDIA insider about the upcoming G92 graphics processors.

G92 will be released in November 2007 timeframe in the form of "GeForce 9800" series.

"G92" GeForce 9800 GTX specs.

- 65nm process technology at TSMC.
- Over one billion transistors.
- Second Generation Unified Shader Architecture.
- Double precsion support (FP64).
- GPGPU native.
- Over one TeraFLOPS of shader processing power.
- MADD+ADD configuration for the shader untis (2+1 FLOPS=3 FLOPS per ALU)
- Fully Scalar design.
- 512-bit memory interface.
- 1024MB GDDR4 graphics memory.
- DirectX 10.1 support.
- OpenGL 3.0 Support.
- eDRAM die for "FREE 4xAA".
- built in Audio Chip.
- built in tesselation unit (in the graphics core"
- Improved AA and AF quality levels

Pros.

65nm process will allow for better yields and better power consumption. power consumption will be lower than that of a GeForce 8800 GTX.

GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world games and applcations.

Release date : November 2007. There will be TWO products at launch: The flagship GeForce 9800 GTX and the second fastest GeForce 9800 GTS.

price for the GeForce 9800 GTX will be 549-649 USD.

price for the GeForce 9800 GTS will be 399-449 USD.[/b]

Yes, I know all about the n92 series chips... lets just say that there is nothing confirmed as yet with regard to the spec of the chips themselves. Some have even said that the n92 is the next mid-range card...

The next generation (be it the n9x series) is said to have over 1 Teraflop worth of computing power in the shading unit alone, 512-bit memory bandwidth. Not sure on whether it will have HDMI output, but if it does (as the current ATi HD2xxxx series does) then it will have an onboard audio codec. The actual unit design is meant to suit the DX10 architecture, whereas the current 8xxx series, while DX10 compliant, is not optimised for it whatsoever.

My system is now on hold (for about the 10th time in 6 months lol), but hopefully soon the 6400+ X2 will be in plentiful supply, the next-gen DX10 video cards are available (sorting out the current performance and driver issues), and there is a revision to the X-Hair board... who knows?

BTW JT your mobo has a renowned history for failures. If it's older than 3 years, you have one of the 'good' ones. If not, might be a good excuse to upgrade... :)
