http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/9/4/10574.jpg(Lighning seems to be striking my car in this one, damn this camera is weird)

I bought it stock last week, got it roadworthied on monday, slammed it on cut falcons, ae86 struts with kyb SS shocks and cut kings superlow springs on monday night, transfered the rego on tuesday, and now its sporting some 15x6 nissan siloette rims(cheers albert!, and matt for supervising).

it also has an extra lock spacer and corona arms.

Its sports a fully hektik golf ball gear nob, some ma61 seats and a drift wheel.

yea 8mm(i think) slip on on the front, and 25mm bolt ons on the rear, i had to use a few varying pole sizes to get the right flare, but it sits well now.(kudos to boky:P)

gotta finnish the 31 first, 155rwkw at 6 psi, 410 nm, plug in boost controller, turn up to 7 psi and exedy heavy duty = fail, gotta upgrade to cushioned button, then 14 psi should see me to 210 rwkw, 650nm daily driven, then sprintvia time, not much to do on that really, drop ca in, u wire it up, diff mounts, tailshaft, skids????

Bit of an update, I had a play with Chris's(drifTE72's) T18 front end on the 71, a couple of mods and it all seems to bolt up! Looks ok, i plan to joint my 71 slanty front quarter panels with the front of the t18 quarter panels if i can, make it look better.

anhoo here are the pics,

Sprinter86
13th April 2009, 04:05 PM
Yea the t18 gaurd is about 10mm wider where it meets the door, so bsically, yes i deliberatly upgraded to t18 gaurds to get the heat out from my brakes. now they are so cool i have to break the ice off them after a long drive. gets pretty annoying.

Ok, i may of found a powerplant for the ae71...

ive been keeping my eye on a smashed ae101 trueno at pick a part recently, and finally they brought it out into the yard, and i removed the 20v straight away.

now i got it back to the workshop and sussed out its condish, i took the cam gear covers off to remove the FWD engine mount, and i found a problem...

the force of the accident had snapped the engine mount off the head (no big deal) but as i pulled the lower cover off, i found that instead of the mount snapping...its pulled a huge peice of the block out!!! :S

luckily its just in the water gallery, and seems to be no more damage anywhere else. so after speaking to some welding mates and mechanic mates, it actually going to be very repairable. :D

On a good note, the coolant can be seen easily through this new hole, and its quite green and clean! :P

pics soon.

lol nath. y not just throw the internals/head on a 16v block? lets hope you get your "daily" built quicker then your "drift car"

22nd April 2009, 01:16 PM
how much did you pay for the 20v??

Sprinter86
22nd April 2009, 06:44 PM
I paid 215 for it with loom, i couldnt get away with the ecu included, but a barted him down from 70bucks(who pays 70bucks for an ecu at pick apart? wtf) to 40. so all up $255.

dan-dont have any spare smallport blocks lyin around unfortunatly. but my engineer guy is comin round to see how easy it will be to tig up. no biggy. Well i think once this block is repaired the installation will be easy. im just keepin the stock computer and just hackin a hole in the firewall.

Plus i already have for the conversion:

Twin VL pump setup, metal 9mm fuel line, hyandai twin thermo rad, water system components, rwd extractors etc. so ive already got the main parts anyways.

ill keep updated on the block repair.

i finally decided to quit talking about it and build a cheap 7ac for this,

So i grabed a mint 7a bottom end from the wreckers, also i got leighs old 4ac head which had been fully recoed and ported, chucked a 4ac head gasket on along with a mitsubishi colt timing belt, and just finished it tonite, has fuckloads of torque, but needs a bigger carby i think, seems to pull strong till like 4500 then it just flatens...

anyone got a 32/36 weber?

:P ill chuck some pics up later.

DRFTR86
28th August 2009, 09:18 AM

Sprinter86
28th August 2009, 06:52 PM
not again matt! shit

something of interest, the engine didnt seem to deliver the power as it should, so i ovaled the cam gear locator and slightly retarded the cam, just shy of half a tooth, helped HEAPS with the way the power is delivered.

Im hoping to get a cam for it tommorow if i get time aswell...

Sprinter86
12th September 2009, 06:27 PM
Ok so im getting somewhere with the engine now, it now has a 270deg regrind cam, bigger carb and it goes pretty hard, still lacking the top end power, but fairly easily pulls 3rd in the dry at like 5k rpm, which feels weird...low rev drifting haha

Now i dont think theres a guide for how to build one of these....im not sure if its been done in aus before, there is one or two on the US forums.

Would anyone be interested if i did a proper guide in the technical articles section for this?

cheers
nath

te front looks good man

wouldnt mind seeing a few extra shots of it

good to see some creativity out there :)

Sprinter86
15th March 2010, 08:39 PM
thought i might update this,

got my license back, and the 7ac is goin pretty well now, got the weber on it and extractors, about to bite the bullet and get the carb rebuild casue its pretty old n shitty, and also dyno tune in a week.

so well see what this odd engine makes, im expecting a lot more torque increase than power, but i dont think itll be hard to get 50rwkw. well see what happens.

ill get some picks up but, basically i got defected pretty bad (its was already wayy low before i put the 165 50 15's on 15x7's, needless to say it was cop bait in every sense of the word)

so the te front end came off and got everthin back to stock ae71 spec, and then got rwc, got off defect.

over the next fe nights i put some sus in it, the essence of the term 'bang for buck'.

Kings Falcon front springs in the front,
JDI Fabrications Cut N' Shut Steering Knuckles
Corona arms
rack spacer
VN rear swaybar
Falcon rear springs in the back
14x7 -0 12 slotters redrilled to 4x114 at the front (all rusted n shit) wrapped up in new RE55 bridgstone semi slicks
alternating between the 14x7 centrelines and 14x7 jelly beans on the back
obviosly still has the weldy still

slides good and will be hitting up winton once the carb is recoed and tuned.

And thats it spose...ill get some pics up soon including defect pics!

Cheers lads
