ok
if you are chasing some wheels for your sprinter, check this quide for offsets.
now this is MY opinion on offsets that suit sprinters (though, alot will agree with me ;) )
there is a small difference in offsets between 13" to 16".. but its not much to make that bigger dif

6J and 6.5J wheels
anything less than +3

7J and 7.5J
anything less than +5

8J and 8.5J
anything less than +6

9J and 9.5J
anything less than +8

10J and 10.5J
anything less than a +10

if you go lower offsets (closer to zero) you WILL need some kind of guard work

hopefully this will help your cars look better

wheels going on my weapon are 38+ lol seriously they are!! (but because of custon front hub assembly and hilux diff, they fill the gaurds right out to nearly needing flares!!)[/b]

You just shot your own smart ass remark down.

Clearly i have poorly interpreted your first post, sounded like you were trying to have a stab at Chapl's offset guide in your first post, but obviously not.

*edit* not being sarcastic.

i fnd ma61 rims (14x7 +8) was a perfect fit with super fat 195/60 with strecked tyres you can fit more offset on ;) but most people probaly figured that. same gose for wider tyres ma61 rims wont fit a low car with 235/big

just gotta watch your offsets on the front hittin your struts too i got a set of 15x7.5 on my fronts with +? offset and they wouldn't turn without a 15mm spacer however im running coil overs and this may vary to a stndrd strut type

Alrighty,
So if I was running a fairly standard Sprinter without coilovers, and was wanting some Work Equips 01 in 15x8ish, what would be the lowest offset I could go to get some nice dish without having any problems or having to do any guard work? Note, car is a daily driver. Also, what width tyres would suit 15x8" the best?

go for an offset around the neg 4 to neg 9 range, and wack some 195/50's on them and bobs your aunty[/b]

only in the jordans

i just want to know
everyone goes on about the look of the car when it comes to offsets
i want my car for track, do wheel offsets effect handling in anyway (i would suspect they would, but may be a silly question)

i dont really care about looks on my car, mainly the handling :P

adam-__-

Lower offset wheels will give you more track. More track could equal better handling.

probably just need to be rolled

Konakid
27th January 2008, 07:40 PM
Will need to be rolled and pulled about 15mm on the rear to clear with a 195/50

thats alright then.....

i was thinking of trying to find a 175 to fit to them anyway....[/b]

a 175 on a 9?

Konakid
28th January 2008, 01:58 AM
You wont be able to find a 175/50/15 that wont cost a million bucks, just run 195/50's they sit so good on 9's.
If you can't fit your rims with that stretch and a rolled and lipped guard then you need to buy a higher offset rim or modify the guards more.

14's are an easier fit with ke guards as they are smaller than 86 guards though finding tires is becoming a hassle.

so going by this i could run a 15x9 +11 on my KE and not have to flare the guards?

is that right?[/b]

might fit on rear with subtle mods, will hit the strut on front, so would need bolt on spacer and guard flaring

wots the legal maximum width for sprinters?

ghetto ke
29th January 2008, 05:50 PM
I had the "official" width written somewhere as my old sprinter, was defected for wheels being out of track* and noise 94dB many years ago  would have to dig it up, funnily the cops vehicle spec book only had wheelbase and track listed for it an no eyebrow height :P

* note: this is not the max width of the car commonly listed in the vehicles overall dimensions, but rather the measurement of the centre line wheel to wheel (i.e. the mid point of the wheel offset is taken from)

Konakid
29th January 2008, 06:00 PM
Its around 10 to 15mm more track than stock is allowed (can't remember exact figure), and no more than 25mm less than stock. So pretty much its gonna be illegal if you want you car to look any good and run wide rims.

Konakid
29th January 2008, 06:47 PM
There we go, 26mm over stock track then.

this seems to be the right place to post this ( i searched but the new search thing is hard to work)

I'm looking at some new rims for the car.. there are 2 sets that I'm lookig at...

1) 16x8 +10.... (i no they are 16's don't flame me, they are cheap)
will these fit under stock guards, ive just got so mild susp mods, shorter shocks and some harders springs, the car isnt too low)

2) 15x7.5 -5 is the other set.. again.. will these fit oK?

sorry for the newbish question, but I'm not totallly down with offsets etc

johl
3rd February 2008, 02:14 PM
hmm the 16's will be backspaced by 110mm. sounds like alot to me. would prob hit ur strut. have a look on the offset calculator or just measure it urself

riceburner
3rd February 2008, 05:55 PM
yeh thats that i was thinking... ive got some bolt on spacers for the front the could solve some problems..

the 15' would be pretty much fine tho yeh?

RobertoX
4th February 2008, 01:17 PM
16x8 +10 will no hit the strut

thanks

4th February 2008, 02:12 PM
ive been told on several occasion that ae86's arnt in the cops book for vehicle hight etc

I'm guessing this int correct

unless you can convince the popo that the car came with 14x7's

but didnt the rule used to be 2 sizes wider and 2 sizes higher?

ghetto ke
4th February 2008, 02:57 PM
In that theory suggests 15x7.5 is largest you can go with similar offset to stock (or within 12mm) which is not that great.

thanks for that mate...

pretty much with running ma61 rims and rona lca's you basically over track

dosnt leave much room for improvment

stefan

damm it really dosnt give you anywhere to go wih wheel widths

has neone got done constantly/badly from having large widths/offsets? Does the ae86 attract the cops enough to make them have a peek at the wheels?

So will 14x7, -9 Konig Rewinds fit stock 86 guards or will i need some guard work done??
