hey people..

I'm Richie and i used to have a ae71 but it had heaps of rust (surprise surprise).. so i was going to re-shell it, but then i decided if im goin to do it again it may as well be in a car that i really like....so when this popped up last week i thought, why not.... ill never get a te27 anyway... :crying:

it came with no motor, just a rolling shell.. but thats good as i have a nice 4age waiting to go in, 86 struts, t series rear end, 15x8 rims all round, along with a heap of other stuff to make it work....

i like driving up in the hills so this will be built up for a bit of grip work and might even look into racing in proper hill climbs.

so the plans in summary are:
strip it back..
fix up the few rust spots..
paint it.. I'm thinking a bright orange or maybe british racing green
4age it..
convert it to 114.3 all round..
cage it..
drive it..

also to keep it period correct (to a point) i may also convert the 4age to twin carbies.. so if you got some lying around, give me a yell!!

let me know what ya'll think..

so enough of me talking, here's some pics..

yo..

bringing this back from the dead.. i been pretty dam slack lately.. only just getting back into it, also having a 10 day easter long weekend, i need to do something, right??

Anyway I cut the spring perches off me T series and threw her under the rear end and the result is about three inches extra track per side  so im thinkin i might need some CYB 86 flares (or whatever they are) cause i'd doubt te27 flares will cover that shit..

also this wont mean much to many on here but i had to pretty much move the entire pedal assembly to the right 150mm just to fit a firewall mounted booster then after doing that decided it would be easier to also make up a pedal box from scratch.. Cause these old ass cars dont come with hydro clutches and its almost impossible to get a te27 pedal box locally..

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/2/5/11512.jpg (http://img95.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p2010036.jpg)

because i wanted the engine bay to look a LITTLE period correct, the efi 4age wasnt goint to cut it, also a 2/3t is just tooooo old school for me.. so some twin webber 45's came up a a great price that were suited for a 2tg so we'll see how they go on a 4ag.. also at the same time dimitri had a redline adaptor for these carbs so i got that too, slapped 'em on an what do you know it looks like a motor again..

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/2/5/11513.jpg (http://img206.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p3130084.jpg)

And finally i got off my ass and shortened my 86 struts for some coilovers, shortened them 40 mm added a 20mm spacer, just gotta get a coilover kit now.... anyone else run ae92 trd yellow shocks?? what do you reckon about 'em??

let us know what ya'll think..

haha not much has happened really. i am farking slack eh..

it is completely stripped down to bare metal, all windows are out and such.. i've just got to make a trolley to wheel the shell around on and get it on a trailor then take the thing to get garnet blasted.. im just trying to find someone to sand blast it thats reasonably priced..

also decided not to run the twin carbs.. just going to put up with quad throttles

but yeah im pretty lazy..:P

hey is the ke25 an aussie delivered model? you mentioned you would never get a te27 but the only difference there i think is a 2t engine and its a te27. seems you have a jap shell?? i only ever see the somewhat ugly ke20's around which have weird looking rear ends.
gl with the build :) looks great, im thinking of getting one of these eh.

yeah its an aus delivered model..and yeah thats most of the differences (hydro clutch, dash other small things too) but i guess it would just be braging rights also genuine Te27's aint cheap..

i wasnt the biggest fan of ke20's either, something about the rear side windows and boot like you said, probly the only one i like is ra28gt's old one on rollaclub, just dumped on super's with flares.. simple but looked sweet.

yeah there should be more ke2x up in here..

updates on ther car: there has been nothing done to it at all, except for getting it rolling again, just cbf making a trolley to wheel it round on..
im hoping to go over seas next june/july for a few months so im just saving my ass off so there wont be any updates on this for a while :(

bringing this back from the dead...I thought i better get off my ass an do something to me twenny five.. not much but meh.

so i got some 4age-ke20 engine mounts off mr04ag, they look pretty rough but will do for the time being, they sit the motor a bit high so i might get thinner engine mounts, if anyone knows any cheap rubber mounts thinner than 86 ones, let us know....

also after a heads up from tally i got joel at spirited drive to get me some starlet-86 taper adjusters so i could run 86 arms and struts.. chucked em in, threw some rims on it, looks pretty cool i reckon.. needs heaps more low but in time, also need te27 flares now..i have another pair of coilovers that i'll throw in after shes engineered..

yeah yeah sportmaxx are shit but they'll do till i find some 13x8 mrk2's

i was going to make a better pedal box and seat rails.. but i ran out of argon so thats shit..

awesome car mate!
sportmaxx's are alright on it i think, but mk2's will be something special
Would be awesome if you went carbies just for that sound that will go so well with how its going to look
Look forward to seeing progress, nice project you got.

hey mate ,wicked ke25! i also own an one ,im looking at 15x8s with a 0 offset do you know if they will hit the factory struts?

rollaboy
6th March 2012, 09:45 AM
oh just realised uve got sportmax 15x8s in the pics, thats the rims im looking at buying! i think they look awsome ,,,but did they clear the struts or were spacers needed?

hilux05
6th March 2012, 06:26 PM
Not too sure man about the fitment on stock struts as i was using ae86 struts with no spacer, cleared by miles.. But i don't see why they wouldn't as long as you use -0 or lower just to be sure..

This car has since been cubed.. Too much rust, not enough patience..
