WRC, thats some 206 1.6 or something. Im sure there has been bigger smashes, hard to quantify, Solbergs Germany Shunt, the Mitubishi in Australia with the engine on the road, who knows...its not a judged spectacle. As a Rally fan Id rather see good driving than cars wrecked.

more to the point how did they retrieve the car? don't think there was a big group of pommy lads to get it like when someone ends up in the trees in the UK

As a driver myself, I can think of alot worst crashes than Latvala's one in portugal. Generally the more spectacular a crash looks, the better it is because the energy has been wiped off slowly. The absolute worst possible crash is sideways into a tree with an instantaneous (but unspectacular) stop. I'd rather barrel speccy down the scenery at 180klm/hr over 500m, then hit a tree sideways at 80km/hr over 10cm...
