Howdy,

I have owned this car for a few months now, just worked out how to upload pics so i decided to chuck her up here and see what you fellas (and girls) think.
This car has a bit of history, It was the original riverside hack, Nico did most of the work on it, the Mark (marke70) bought it, and it became the original team black dog corolla. Then johl bought it off him and got it plated for the two seater sonversion and we both painted it to make it look a little respectable. Then i traded my daily laser and a few hundred dollars and now i own it. Great wet weather warrior, has tought me and the boys how to slide a car properly (even in the dry lol).
anywho, here are the specs:

Engine: 4AC powerhouse

Suspension: EA Falcoon KING springs all round, SW20 short stroke shocks (FR), HQ Holden shocks ®, AE86 brake upgrade, corona lower control arms, rear whiteline swaybar

Wheels: rear: 14 x ?? dragways (bogan) Front: 14 x ?? hotwires. I also have a nice set of volk wheels that i will be debuting on the 86 cruise lol.

Modifications: Body deadener removed. (Cause it makes sooooooo much difference )

Stereo Audio / Visual: nothing

Estimated Power: 40rwhp of raw unadulterated ball tearing POWA!!!!

also has a t series diff with a locker.

This car is my daily driver, i was considering going hard in this car and turning it into a marke70's ae71 replica, but i also own a track only skyline, which needs me and my money more.

anywho, here are the pics.

this is when riverside owned it, in its piggiest form to date.

here are a few when we were painting it. Afterwards we found out we basically copied deleta's paint scheme.... ah well.

yeah well thats the plan, originally was going to gze it, but i can't afford it at the moment. When the motor dies/needs fixing for ANY reason, i'll pull it out and probs just a 16valve for simplicity's sake. Perhaps if i can gather more funds i will gze it in the future, but not right now.

recon a black roof would look good with a yellow ke70?

orange32
20th September 2007, 12:13 AM
no, sorry.... just go all out and paint the rest, we used appliance paint, expensive but good. black and white is easy and effective in comparison to preperation effort. just not matte black...too many dodgy matte black keto's out there.

on another note... cruise in 4 days!!! lol can't wait.

looks like this car may be sold :(... back to the original owner, riverside. At least i know its going to a good home and will get looked after just like i have.... Don't worry, i will be back once my bank balance rises with another one! keto love forever and shit.

good news:

Sale fell through so now i'm keeping it! i was happy either way but now i can start working on it as i'm losiung my lisence very shortly. WIll be drifting at archerfield next friday (may try comp if the 4ac can cope), then stripping it out and painting the inside and outside properly, then engine hopefully.

i'm excited.

yeah so am i!

I've been out there before in my skyline so i know the track fairly well, i've just never slid in first gear before lol. I'll have to have some cheese cutter 13" on the back i think to attempt to keep it second untill the 90 degree right corner.

also taking requests on coulour choice, keep in mind it will also need to suit my skyline, so i can do both at the same time and kill two birds with one stone. Also taking opinions on engine choice, probably between 16v, 20v and gze. However my main focus is the skyline so the gze will be stock as a rock.
if it helps with choosing a colour, heres a pic of my skyline

keep in mind that you will want a colour on the 71 that will still suit your wheels

orange32
6th October 2007, 02:04 AM
yeah i'm thinking of painting them two different colours, i don't think one colour will suit both, plus it means that i can keep the skyline in pig spec for another year.

damn excited for archerfield though!

orange32
8th October 2007, 02:55 PM
everything is looking good in preperation for archy. Finally bolted down my battery today, put my dildo gear knob from my skyline on, changed wheels and picked up skidders, was going ot attempt to mount my fire extuingisher in today but i can't find a flat enough space so i'll keep that for later and make a dedicated plate to mount it properly.

Unfortunatly only one thermo fan is working, can't figure it out by looking at it so i'm going to have to get a multimeter and see what go is.

looking forward to archerfield, hopefully i don't get a letter in the mail from QT before friday so i can drive to and from there :)

was going off tonight mate
cheers for letting me borrow your helmet, would of loved to come for a lift but you all came in at the same time lol

the speed you were getting was crazy for a 4ac!!!

bummer about the licence too... you'll defiently need to get someone to drive the ke to archerfeild so you can rip it up again

orange32
15th October 2007, 04:08 PM
cheers felix, the speed was necessary to stop bogging down...even in first lol. ah well. Engine stood up to it like a trooper, i seriously had my doubts beforehand as to whether it would stand up or not. I sat it at 6k for about half of each run and i seriously think i did around 40 passes over the night (when they let us on for practise, i was the only car on the track for about 20mins just going round and round!). I might keep the 4ac for a while yet, will teach me a lot about the way the car handles before i add the power.

No damage, no problems, just skids.

here is a pic someone took that i stile from secretdrift.com.

note the smile :) I was having fun

also note, believe it or not, this is full lock :( i didn't even realise it was that bad till friday night, as big angles in wet = fail.

I'll try to load up some pics of full lock so you can see what i have to put up with lol

orange32
27th October 2007, 03:09 AM
i fucking love this car, takes all of my anger and abuse and turns it into love. Going to get power steering arms asap, tonight, on several runs, i was going from lock to lock through the entire track and i just can't get a decent angle..... i just love it is all.

Also, going to just 4age it, probs 16v (but probably never lol). I reckon i could be fairly competitive with twice the power i have now, with more lock and power, i believe i can give a few 'well known' guys a run for their money.

Update:

Car is going to a mates backyard today to get sanding for some new paint. Haven't totally decided on colour scheme, however it wont be too radical. Just thinking all white with black bonnet and black bumpers. Going to redo the interior as well and finish off the sound deadoning. By the time it is finished, it should be looking sweet, have some lock (i have ordered power steering arms), and have a bit of go too (haven't made up my mind 100% on engine choice as yet, but it will be happening, i am over no power, i want to be competitive.

I am totally open to opinions on paint colour/scheme, and engine choice (keep it 4a, no nissans or anything that will require major $$$).

cheers

thanks gilly,

basically its down to the 16v vs. GZE route.

The way i see it is:
1. With a gze, i have more power, more power = more consistency and speed.
2. 16v is cheap and easy, will make enough power, but i will need to drive like a demon (aka vtec), to be as competitive as i would like.

I think it will come down to the amount in my bank account when the paint is finished and the availability of said engines at that time.

-zac

Perhaps a slight sponsorship will help... wink wink lol :)

orange32
3rd November 2007, 02:09 AM
Hmmm... after some careful consideration in the funds department, it looks as if the 4age 16v will be my option of choice. While the cash flow sitiuation is in no way bad, i carefully weighed up the cost of the conversion/s and what i want the car for. The car was and will always be a battler, so a gze will make it to easy for me (after all, this car is what i'm learning to drift in - properly, i love my skyline, but its too easy).

Pus, I have the time to wait for a decent 16v with mods to come up for sale and i can be picky :).

I considering attempting the conversion in my mates backyard, so i may have some stupid questions as i have never attempted or even seen an engine conversion take place.. it's all about learning :)

-zac

P.s. This post may sound whack, i may or may not be slightly intoxicated. may edit in the morning.

/the engine was running like shit today, thought it was going to die....

Turns out one of the spark plug leads fell out and it was running on three cylinders... still runs like a trooper

On the plus side, the car will be painted in marke70 green (yes, he has his own colour), due to him having a shit load of paint leftover. Will look shithot both sliding together. There may be a third joining the posse, but we'll wait and see how that turns out.

Going to give a GZE conversion a go, bog standard with front mount, ecu and exhaust. Will have lots of questions due to my poor mechanical knowledge.

May have bought the coolest old school bride i have ever seen, will post pics once i have secured the purchase.

Other than that, i have been a lazy bastard

I hit the tyre wall last night moderately hard. Damage isn't terrible but wnough to piss me off as i was going to spend my ten days off repainting it and ripping out the engine, looks like i'll be trying to source some panels now instead.

I have pictures but imageshack is being gay right now so i can't upload them.

I also got to run in the demo session with the 'pro' drivers which was really surprising and certaintly showed me where my weak areas areas are.

4ac is down on power (i know) right now than it has been so i'm going to spend this morning poking around to see what the deal is before i start drifting at 2pm this arfternoon.

Tandems with callum are going to be awesome, maybe we will get it right this time :) lol they were retarded last night.

so umm.. its been a while.

I have a problem. I have some power steering arms and a lock spacer going in at the moment and I've run into a bit of a hurdle. I can see where the lock spacer goes into the steering rack, but the is a weird looking washer that i'm not sure where it goes. Also, the thread on the spacer runs out before it tightens which would indicate that its not in right, thus i have pictures and throw the floor open for advice instructions on what goes where.

Here are some pics (sorry the quality sucks, i had to use my video camera to take photos) :

This is where i have the lock spacer on now, the opposite side is the ball joint for the steering arm, I'm fairly certain its the right spot but...
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/8717/tierodhx4.jpg

I hope you can see it in this photo, i have the washer where it was before i added the spacer, there is still a clearance there as the spacer is out of thread.
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/4954/closeuppm7.jpg

This is it disassembled.
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/9374/disassembledff1.jpg

If anyone has any pics of their steering rack, i'd appreciate it. I also have coilovers in the front now, so the front end should be a bit stiffer and controllable with more lock.

Cheers

I also found out that my 4ac is out of a front wheel drive corolla. Does anyone know if they still make the same power? I was under the impression that they were slightly detuned in FWD format but i base this on complete heresay.
