i dno why you would want to... they are 16x9 -15 on the front. so gaurds bigger than that gives you a good idea.

My point.

On such a light car where tyres like 215 - 235's just arent needed, wheels that wide for steering is overkill.

Remember most nissan drivers use 9/9.5 wide steerers on silvias with 215 tyres and they weigh considerably more than corolla's.....

Im not disagreeing with you that wider tyres are bad KonaKid, but just because a heavier car is using a wider tyre, that isnt an argument against using it on a lighter car.

Generally what stops people using a wider tyre for racing is class restrictions.

Drift of course brings up a whole heap of new arguments and opinions.

Theres a whole lot more to it than simply asking "what width tyres?". You need to take a whole pile of variables into account.

The responses on here indicate that whilst they fit, they may not be the best idea. That may well be true, however what exactly you plan on using it for, what tyres you intend to fit and how adjustable your suspension is needs to be taken into account at the bare minimum.

Many responses have said outright that 2XX width tyres are too wide. As long as you can work the tyres enough so that they heat up, it dosen't matter. To that end, as long as you can get heat into them, the wider the better.

If you ever intend on driving it in the rain, forget it. Get some cheesecutters or SLOW DOWN.

Can you adjust your suspension to make the most of the extra grip afforded to you by the tyres? If not, don't bother. I just recently spent $4k on a set of double adjustable Koni's and Eibach springs to make the most of my tyres and handling.

The weight of the car does come into it somewhat, but to say that you can only have a certain width for certain cars is not correct. I run 215/50R13's on my car, and it weighs 530kg (dry).

Take the whole package into consideration before making a decision. Shelling out for better wheels now may make your car worth _something_ in a couple of years time.

I use Kumho V70A in a soft compound for supersprinting, and Yokohama A048R in Medium for the road. I dont think you can get A048's in soft, but if you can, I want them!

so i see this didnt get deleated, that means their are 2 going one in tech questions 2.

those guards on that ke loook rediculous, but i do also think those guards are extreem overkill and ugly, u dont have to have inslanly big guards like that to cover wide rims.. if anyone have Drift battle mag issue #05 Satoh Ken runs 15 x 9's with -27 offset and his guards arnt as massive as ones on that red KE.
ive just gotta get my nads on this tool so i can nod the guard lip and make up an extension section, so not really changing the shape of a "flared" guard to much just making it longer.. ok so 10's may have been a bit optomistic.. mayb just one the back with 9's up front..

Biggo have u got a bigger pic of that KE u have in your avtar?

sif...

most nissan drivers would use 7" on front and 8 or at most 9 on rear... rarely would you find them using 8" on front and maybe never would you find 9 or 10 on front

tthat car was used for circuit racing and used to run a 13b, so its not overkill, if you can fit bigger tyres who cares what it looks like, do f1 cars weigh as much as a corolla? look at the tyres they run

I saw 15x10 superlites on back of AE86 the otherday it had rolled and slightly flared guards (no metal added) with 205/55's I think the rims stuck out about an inch from fenders, but because of stretch tyre tread was just inside. will see if I can take some shots next time I see it. 8's on the front almost looked skinny!!!

edit: got pics on my phone will up load them tonight!!! Damn it cant find my usb connection for my phone :( pics up on next page ->

Thats my car in my avatar. Its in the process of getting written off. Mite do a members thread one day for shits and gigles. Need a new shell tho.

I also have some 13x8's, mush hotness all round but i needs a better tyre selection.

anything wider than front 8' on a non ps car is stupid. Dimitri can attest to that. If your a girl dont bother with 8's even.

why do people want suce huge wheels?

the n2 cars run a 9 inch at front and 9.5 rear with N2 kit which had huge amounts of room

"flared guards" may get the 10 under on rear but is it really needed

try running 8's all round with a 205 50

and try to loose grip easily!

Your missing the point of them, there is no point trying to re invent the wheel....

Just buy an s13!

SNAP
13th November 2007, 08:19 PM
an s13? noooo there gay, i was going to go 20'v but for the price of all that its nearly the price of an sr conversion and with much more potential, i already had the breaks so i thort y not, besides the ke and 86 looks way better than an s13 and i like old skool way better..

SNAP
13th November 2007, 08:20 PM
ultimate would be 20v turbo but by the time i build that, the sr kinda out weighs the odds

Konakid
13th November 2007, 08:58 PM
By the time you do all that to make the sr20 work in the ke, the s13 will be a much more reliable, more balanced and better car overall for the same price. Remember not only do you need a complete sr20 and gearbox you also need a custom tailshaft, an F series diff etc. its not as cheap as you'd think.

S13's are dope cars, just the majority modify them incorrectly....
