rthy
27th December 2008, 01:28 PM
ey dave,
i like to think its a decent stocky nuggget of a ae71, but at the end of the day i could have just bought a prebuilt ae86 with coilovers and 4age already done... qq

Nice mate... So u used a tacho instrument cluster out of a CSX FWD carolla and it went into the KE70 no probs?

rthy
31st December 2008, 10:50 AM
it was a CSX AE71 Auto from pick a part
some ke70's have it, i guess the CSX or XX model?

ae71neo
31st December 2008, 11:36 AM
I can't believe you put all the prices. I dont really wanna know what mine owes me!

rthy
31st December 2008, 12:32 PM
yes i thought id check it up as a reference.
alot ppl think ke70's are the cheap project cars, but when u add it up its cheaper to buy one already done... unless of course its a labour of love?

ae86
1st January 2009, 02:10 PM
yeah exactly true! like people on this forum try save money but they go idiotic about it and wait for a stocker to pop up and buy that, they spend another 7k ontop of buying it just to modify it slightly, always better off buying someone elses car already done most people lose alot of money selling their modified cars.

rthy
5th January 2009, 01:41 PM
yea sometimes i do wish i did buy a car already done, but already had all the suspension and diff setup spare from my ae86.

Vance
21st January 2009, 12:04 AM
the way i see ae's and ke's these days is that they are classics. working on them and driving them brings joy.

if i wanted a thrasher i would look elsewhere

put a thread up for your ae86 mate. i wanna see whats been done to it since youve got it. you got the insides of the doors sprayed yet?

shichi~
22nd January 2009, 10:10 PM
cars lookin good man come help me do mine :P

rthy
31st January 2009, 01:41 PM
haha i think the car looks pretty shitty, which is what i want i guess... since im building it more towards track stuff. not even no where near finishing mine...

as for the ae86 it will remain a secret.... mainly because it pretty stock lol...

anywas thought ill put an update:
Will be going to get engineers cert for this car since the 4AGE was never an option for the AE71 series. altho a 2tg would be a stright swap over i guess.

so an full engineers check will cost around $800 and 1/2 a working day to go over the whole car.

Emissions:
Need to install a catayltic converter
Everything else should be fine

Sound (not over 90db?):
Remus muffler is pretty quite so shouldn't have problems and even has a resonator
Even got one of those cressida intake resonators thingys

Custom work:
Cut and shut intake, exhaust fits body

Suspension (lowered, track, offset, etc):
AE86 Struts with AE71 strut tops
TRD 8kg front spring and 6kg rear
Whiteline RCA's and adjustable panhardrod
Tokico Front and rear shocks (keeps the springs nice and captive)

Brake test (stop powerm, etc..)
AE86 JDM brakes. Vented RDA disks with Ferodo Zero pads
Also has new ae71 brake shoes n cylinders not that it will matter much

Bucket seat:
Rails and strenght of the welds etc...
Seatbelt
No rear seats

Rollcage (dont have one yet):
Meets road rule requirements and paddings etc...
