(copied from my toymods thread, coz I'm lazy)

well after owning the celica for exactly a year i decided to "trade up" to a corolla wagon. the car came from a wreckers so wasnt in the best shape, but it looked good was manual and could fit stuff in the back....

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/159474.jpg

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/1533/image037ki9.jpg

i picked up the car september some time, driving it home on the celica plates :P , and convieniently the fuel filter desintegrated a few kms from where i picked it up....fun. after finally gettin it home work began on fixing rust, and the usual worn out parts for RWC.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/159476.jpg

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/971/image024go4.jpg

the list included: lots of rust, brake hoses, seat belts, tyres, air box/filter, battery mount...a few other things as well (can't recall).

with 20+hrs of uni a week and $80ish coming each week from my one day of work it took me the best part of 2 months to get it all sorted. finally got rego on 1st oct!

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/159478.jpg

was loving having the wagon, and a manual...a little too much perhaps?

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/159479.jpg

2 weeks after getting the car on the rd, had a little late night scuffle between the left side of my car and a gutter....the gutter won. i like to think i caused some emotional damage at least. in the above pic, there a few degrees of positive camber, toe out and a bent stub axle (which resulted in a siezed brake). lets just say that it pulled slighty to the left after that.

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/8523/bushesbh9.jpg

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/159481.jpg

so once again i needed to take the car off the road to fix it. this time i decided to overhaul the entire under carrage, brakes, suspension while i was at it.
-polyurethane (sp) bushes throughout
-ra40 front struts, brakes, LCA, toe rods, castor bars
-chopped ae71 springs (for the time being) to test ride height
-added flipped leaf to the rears, and reset each side
-ma61 wheels on the way

after another month off the road the dori wagon is again running, so i figured i put this up before it went off the road again....

future plans:
-ma61 front seats
-flared guards
-custom front bar/lip
-researching 4a carby-turbo setups (coz I'm alternative and shit)
-fix rest of the rust i missed and respray
-bigger front sway bar, custom rear sway bar

cheers,

the height is perfect at the back a touch too low up front but doesnt rub (after i took out a few bolts that held in the splash guard, and wound the castor back). looking for some short stroke insert for the ra40 struts atm, heard that gt4 celica ones will fit.

few more words on spec:

198XXXkms
4ac, t50 running fairly well? (havnt driven any others to compare)
tacho dash
locked diff curtiousy (sp) of garage hokin/wesley engineering.
replaced plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor button, points (when i get of my ass).
torqued head bolts, all new fluids (brakes, clutch, eng, diff, g/box), new soft lines
old school saas drift wheel, need a new one.

stay tuned for more mods as i am working lots now. 4 months of uni holz!!!!!!WOOOOOOOOOOO

yeh 75 series FTL. hence why im soo keen for the ma61 rims, since i already have 195x60 (or 65 cant remember) tyres for the rims.

i have a tacho dash already (with 309XXXkms lol) and some spares already, wreckers is only a 15mins drive away so no worries...im near chaddy BTW. if any one wants to crusie one night or sundays, give me a buzz im always bored and looking to go for a drive

got ae92 front bar last weekend off toymods. drove around with it "test fitted" to the car (red, and cable-tied all up the front) for a few days then resprayed and fitted it properly today on my day off. i think it looks tops! just need to sort out some indicators and probably fidle with the mounting slightly.

still waiting on AJPS lock spacers, ma61 rims and seats.

also threw on some new wiper blades, washer fluid, and chopped the carby cover a lil :2thumbs:

on with the pics.

small update, no pics as yet.

FINALLY got my lock spacer from dave at AJPS, so that will hopefully go in this w/e or next. aslo got bored and decided to buy a stereo. have 4 jvc 6" speakers (one in each door), 2 pioneer 6x9" 3 ways in the tail gate and a sony 600W amp, with pioneer H/U. goes well didnt want a sub floating round in the boot since i actually use it. so atm the 6x9's are running as subs. seems to be holding up and sounds good.

so pics of stereo and extra lock on their way. tints to hid all money spending also on the way....

also in the works is a e30 323i drift car. stayed tuned (if i get it....)

went at it today in 36ish degree heat. was fun i recommend it to ALL your friends :2thumbs: . lock spacer is now in and spacing my lock. cbf fitting the rest of my stereo as thats another (cooler) days work right there.

how to install an AJPS lock spacer:
step one;
once the cars up on stands wheels off and tie rod ends un-done remove the boots of the rack ends. remove LHS (passenger) rack end.
http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/3344/image005ap0.jpg

step two;
screw lock spacer onto rack end FIRST. i found that the thread on the rack end didnt continue all the way, so i had to use a big ass washer to give the spacer a surface to screw against. you need a 30mm open end spanner for the rack end and a 22mm open spanner for the spacer/rack. these need to be fairly narrow (which is gay, since any spanner that big is too wide), so be careful not to round off the slots.
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/6632/image007ue6.jpg

step three;
refit the rack end (with spacer) to the rack. again be careful to not damage the slots. the threads did not have any sign of greese or locktight/boding agents so i chose not to use any -up to you.
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/1493/image008jr9.jpg

step four;
measure the distance from the inside of the rack to the end stop. it should be even. this means the rack is centered, far more accurate and easier IMO then counting turns-to-lock. in my case its was 80mm either side.
http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/1875/dsc01442yf8.jpg

step five;
as i am running ra40tie rod ends i had to shortern them. (i am also running ra40 LCA's but they are not much longer). i cut 15mm off each end to keep it even. the stock rolla tie rods would not need to be cut (with the ra40 LCA or bigger).
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/1788/image009uj7.jpg

step six;
wheel alignment time. i tried to keep the lengths even each side but they were not, i assume the LCA's are not the same length. insted i turned full lock one way and adjusted the wheel away from the inside wheel well a few centimeters. and did the same to the other side. then wound out approx. same turns until i was happy. this worked well i have a little toe out, and the car only lightly drifts to the left. i will ofcourse get a professional wheel alignment but this is in the mean time.

time for before-after pic

lock before spacer.
http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/9797/image004tj4.jpg

lock after spacer.
http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/7018/image012na0.jpg

not too special, i think i will get a little more (i hope i will) after the wheel alignment. but overall im happy i can now park without doin a 3-point-turn!! <_<

and thats my story.....

bonnet lifts, only a few cm (2-3)
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/162964.jpg

front bumper was a tad too wide, so after a consultation with garage hokin it was decided to chop and plastic weld it together.

after realising i didnt have a palstic welder i...erm...improvised :2thumbs:
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/162966.jpg

also decided some intake mods were in order, since the car wasnt making enough power i went for ice blue (to help keep temps down)
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/3230/poddyfh3.jpg

exhaust should be on the way, have a new (old) muffler to throw on so just waiting for some gas to weld with.

as always, stay tuned for more! :greenbounce:

9th June 2008, 01:28 AM
only minor. very easy to clear unlike other who weren't so lucky...

resol
9th June 2008, 02:20 AM
yeh yeh.

was defected for:
-protruding exhaust> must comply with stock
-missaligned headlights (from crash)> must comply with stock
-improperly mounted handbrake cable> was running on the leafs, and held out of the way with cable ties.

will take about 5 mins to fix all of that at no cost.

BUT the fag cop ticked yes to RWC. and i have no rear seat, no bumpers, carby, catch can, s13 drivers seat, modified suspension (camber, chopped etc) sooo yeh thats gona be fun. and i have exams so yeh sucks.

but other got it worse. out of 5 cars 3 were majored and not meant to be moved...lol.

another awesom night drifting. another broken diff.

defect still not cleared. thinking of parting the car and buying something nissan....

ra40 front struts, with near new disc and pads (bigger brakes, fits after market shocks-same as sprinter, supra, mr2 etc et)
modified stock corolla steering arms, also stock celica one (less lock)
commo springs ~7/8kg (uncut, set your own ride height)
chopped corona springs (stiffer then stock, bit soft for drifting maybe 5/6kg) good ride height (guard just above the tyre)
brand new kyb excel g shocks
used monroe shocks (good for fun street driving, bit soft for drifting)
ra40 LCA with nolothane bushes, ball joint ok (not new but works well enough that u don't notice it.) give 1.5 neg camber
castor bars with nolothane bushes
mx83 LCA, slightly better condition ball joits to the ra40 ones, give 3ish neg camber
ra40 tie rod ends, one adj cut down 15mm, the other is bent slightly (they are tie rods, they work fine)

any and all interior bits
tacho dash
2 saas wheels (non dish) 330mm and 360mm
toyota boss kit
doors clean no rust
ajps rack spacer + custom drivers side 5mm slip on spacer (for that little bit extra)

3 14x6"steel wheels(in pics above on the back)
1/2 dozen pairs of 14x175/185/195 tyres
4 stock 13" steelies

4ac runs well, revs to 8,000 nicely, brand new 70 degree thermostat. car NEVER over heats
32/36 dgav weber and adapter, with custom linkage.
gatorade catch can kit
straight through zorst with bozo style tips.
manual/ 4a conversion gear (cross members, g/box, tail shaft, radiator WITH THERMO FAN, pedal box, clutch MC/slave etc etc)

2 spare axles
2 locked centers (one good, one little bit of back lash, both with broken axle in them)

pioneer h/u, with aux and RCA outputs
sony 4/3 channel 600w amp
2 pioneer 6x9"
4 jcv 6" (2 brand new never used)
all cables (power, earth, speaker, RCA)
