well i got this today my new daily drift machine

Engine-driveline: ae92 100kw 4age fwd converted to rwd, extractors to drift pipes, t-50 box, cig locked diff.

inside: custom door trims, covered dash, racing drivers seat, 3 and 3/4 inch tacho, oil pressure and water temp guages (oil pressure not hooked up yet), sports steering wheel & a few other things.

suspension: low king springs, two coils cut off each corner, not even 1 month old kyb commodore shocks in rear. (front are monroe gt gas but are close to shot and suggest replacing) wheel bearings have been replaced.

future plans I'm not sure on yet, square front for sure i don't like the pointy front at all but other than that i alway wanted to do up a ke70 or ae71 i only got the trueno because of how cheap it was, so I'm not sure yet if I'm going to part out the trueno so i can put my built 20v turbo in this

i also want to paint the car top half black bottom half camo (like the line above the door handles up black and below that camo)

who knows what the future will bring

yeh guys she's got rego yay got it this arvo, then changed my wheel bearings drove it down the road (first time driving really) went to a tyre shop to get a wheel alighnement, all sweet got some sweet dori action

on the way out bout three munj then kicked into a left bend was awsome came up to a intersection turned right drove about 100m down the road SMOKE started poring out the bonnet i fuckin shat it (im a marine

sparky havent had time to look at rewireing the car yet) so i turn the car off pull over reach in the back to get my side cutters pop the bonnet smoke is porring out i go the battery and just fu*kin cut all the negs

off and it slowly stoped smoking. i found the culpret wire i think it was for the fu*kin gay neons the guy i brought the car off had in under the dash, scared the shit out of me all good tho the wire didnt really do

much damage to any other wires it was my last day of work today so im going in tomorow to rewire it might even use fuses, let this be a lesson to all you wannabe sparkys fuse every thing that goes to the battery

hilton
22nd December 2007, 09:39 AM
same thing happened to me but it was in the dash with a tacho, the live wire went under the clamp and i didnt notice so when i tightened it up it squashed an pinched the wire. went up the street and had a go at a liney(yes it worked awesome) and yeh must have burned through the wire and shorted out. smoke everywhere is hat it but its coz i wanted to do ti quick to get it done and forgot to put the fuse back in to the line.

o well lol.

small update ordered cam's today for my 20v http://www.camshaftshop.com/camshafts/mode...-ge-16v-20v/36/ (http://www.camshaftshop.com/camshafts/model/4a-ge-16v-20v/36/) $756 delivered to Aus i thought that was a good price for a pair of brand new cam's I'm using

194-B cams But on 110 intake and 114 exhaust centerlines should work nice with the T2871RS .64 rear hoping it will spool nice and quick give good power I'll post pics as soon as i get them

once i do get them and they get fitted to the head (still getting ported) then my motor can finally go together yay I'm hoping my turbo conversion with R154 and hilux diff will be done by june

Don't believe everything you read on the net unless you read it on toymods :P
which brings me to say that i read on toymods on a few occasions that r154's are one big mofo of a gearbox and much bigger than w58. I'm sure with a bit of research you'll find some sizes :)

bellhousing will be a problem...
just go a w box
1/4 the price and easy to obtain ....
Josh uses one behind his 1uzzzzz so should be strong enough
just need to change 1st gear thrust washer for a billet one and then they are fairly bulletproof

r154 is 1/2 inch longer input shaft
1 inch wider
weighs 46 kgs w box weighs 35kgs......
use different bolt pattern

w box factory rated at 160 hp
r154 box factory rated at 280 hp
pics
r154 is one with deep webbing vs w58

http://users.tpg.com.au/users/loats/techni...gearboxes2.html (http://users.tpg.com.au/users/loats/technical/ma61/gearboxes2.html)

i think it will this is what i want i've got 2 mates that have blown w box's b4 i don't want the hassel of blowing box's

Patto
6th February 2008, 08:04 PM
will need to fit a wider tunnel
find a bellhousing or adapter
use a 3sgte clutch with a different flywheel
anything can be made to fit :2thumbs:
cheapest i have been quoted is $1500 just for the box

another option is late model r150 out of a 2006-2008 hilux v6
same internally as a r154 just with shorter input shaft (same as w 5* box

just FYI

w57 is close ratio box
w58 has longer highway geared 5th

available genuine for $28.50....+ a gearbox strip and rebuild

the thrust washer from factory is a crap cast item which disintergrates under extreme conditions
the billet one solves this problem

small update on the slow road to 20v turbs action

i brought a house with my girlfriend a highset joint much like gillys house with a built in work shop underneith (at the moment i live in a one bed room appartment with no car parks, makes woking on my car a hassel)
we move in on the 11th of july now i have somewhere to work i hope progress will speed up alot!!!

bell housing arrived friday from AJPS cheers guys!!! 4a to ws

also my mazda caliper addapters arrived, also look the goods, cheers once again dave

i pretty much have every thing i need now to finish exept a tail shaft and a few other bits and peices that will add up to another couple of grand no boubt

motor is sill in bits at my machanics which is not so bad because it will be fresh as when i put it in instead of beeing a built motor that sat arround for ages without beeing started

I'm chasing some adm ae86 bare struts if anyone wants to sell me some cheap :teehee:

whatcha going to do for the plenum?[/b]

cheers for the comments guys

the plenum is going to be alloy with a 90mm billet throttle body and runners as long as possible (hopfully to aid in lesser lag time)

i went sigle throttle body for a couple of reasons the main one being tunning its alot easyer to tune one body than quad quad, the other being i didnt see the point of quads with a turbo no matter what i'll have some lag so response in that sense to me is sort of out the window and having 4 boddies its almost impossible to tune each cylinder without expensive air fuel ratio meters on each exhaust port, to get them perfect so single was the go for me

tiny update. Actually got my car home to the new house and undercover locked up in my garage today. The house is high set and the workshop / garage wasnt really set up for a car, it only has one door not quite wide enough for a car to get in, so me and my bro spent most of the day taking a wall down so we could drive the car in, then put the wall back (its going to be a long project) i'll get some pics up tomorow, b4 we start to take the engin out of the ae71 ready for the 20valve finally,

also bolted the bell housing up to my w57 fits perfect (AJPS takes a while to get them because they order them from over seas, but its a good product)

hopefully the whole project starts moving forward now
