ive seen alot of jap 86's that are super ridicously low

but still have enough room to get a finger inbetween guard and tyre

im assuming short short stroke shocks and springs

could any one fill me in please

i want to accive this look

and run 15's eassy to get tyres

id prefer 14's but limited tyre selection atm coz of lack of GIII's

I am guessing you roll the front gaurds a bit, and do not use Sigma arms, but standard lower control arms. But jap 86's probably use fibreglass gaurds more often which can look stock, but are slightly flared.

it all depends on the offset of the wheels, if you run stockos, you can pretty much take the springs out and you will still be able to drive around (within reason)

but if you have 15x10 -56 then your going to have a little more trouble.

what are the wheels you want to use?

prolly a 14x7.5 front -10 at most

and 14x8 rear -10 at most

mild guards

UEO pic = 14 x 6.5 or 7" wheels, 185/60R14 tyres. FRP gaurds.

theres no low like jap low. its prolly 3-3.5inches lower than standard. so unpractical for a daily though.

i know exactly why youre wanting to do this. looks awesome.

correct and better for lower roll centre

id be happy with 4 inch off ground flat from base of skirt

Doesn't lowering the car lower the center of gravity but increase the roll? That's why you get RCAs to push it back up to stock-ish?

nno it doesnt increase roll, it lowers the roll center which can alter the handling aspects of the car eg increased understeer and oversteer, which is kind of what we want our cars to do anyway. The height is basically going to depend on your wheel choice, ueos car runs small wheels because thats how he drifts at high speed, he doesnt need the front to grip, all 4 wheels are sliding

No, its lowers the roll centre as you lower the car, it makes sense, the rca's stop the bumpsteer by returning the LCA arm closer or to its factory position to align it with the steering rack, tie rods and steering arms.

Ueo's car runs a 185/60/14 tyre, this rolling diameter is within 5mm (or less) of a 195/50/15. Height is dependent on your springs. That said there is no point in having a low car if you dont have short shocks and roll centre adjusters to cope.

Ueo does need the front to grip, his four wheel slide was only done on entry but he still needs front grip for turn in and corner exits etc.

If you want to go super low (low as Ueo) then you will need rear rca's as well and traction brackets to align the rear end as well as super short stroke shocks. Going to low for your shocks makes the car bump and buck as you hit bumps due to the shock being already into its stroke before you even hit a bump. This causes it to rebound faster and make the car jump. I noticed this especially when i put 8kg rears in my car compared to 4.5kg's that were about 25mm shorter, the 8kgs (with the same shocks as before) actually handled hits much better, and the car was much more compliant over really small bumps.

hey konnakid, what do you mean by "rear RCA's"?

are you refereing to adjustable 4-link type thing?

or maybe some sort of adjustment as to where the 4-link attaches to the chassis?

but of topic im sorry, but might be helpful

i have ssen this rear RCA, from memory it was an extension that altered the pick up point of the panhard rod on the diff. had to be welded on as well, i can't quite remember how it worked, actually i don't think i ever figured it out

EDIT: found pic

I assume it replaces your stock item on the diff (cut off od one, weld on new one. I don't think its a common thing to replace/modify maybe therefore not overly effective?

I have also seen someone chop and reweld the other end of the panhard rod to correct the angle

heres a guide I wrote on 4 link rear ends, not finsihed though:

ive got my ass end good low

but now the pahnhard rod dosnt sit straight is points down toward the passenger side

i can now see why rear rca's are the key
