http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/9272/imgp0617ba0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

i wouldn't change the nankangs for anything, for what we do they are simply the best bng for buck tyre you can buy...

if something better was out ther at the same cost, we'd use them, but they simply work so well on the ae86 chassis for drift. full stop..

mr2drift
27th December 2007, 09:43 AM
seeing as i made some sort of fucked up mistake with oil lines ect ect and managed to kill the wrecker 1uz last night, well drop another cheap wrecker motor in, and send the heads off this one to my mate, brad at GA motor repairs, for some serious head/valve/port work plus some cams should be sweet as after that........

why you pic such a wussy looking front bar?

I don't like white wheels with red. Bronze and black both look pretty ave with red as well. I reckon if they came in a plain alloy color that wold look better.

The red color is nice though.

lol dude, looks are all up to the individual i guess, black/bronze/ even silver rims, dont give a contrast to a base colour, even on the grey paint, the best thing was a coloured wheel that stands out as a highlight, its the look I WANTED, i dont give a damn what other people say looks good or bad, when they put the time and effort into their own cars like i do, they can do what they want.... till then get nicked.....

the bar is one of the few thats IN STOCK in australia at all times and easy enough to get spares of, and looks way hotter than the uras style bar thats available through monkey warehouse, and with what we do to the cars having the bar accesable for spares is a big factor....

the paint is a 2 pac red, straight tinter, no mixing so its easy to match down the track, cant remeber the code off the top of my head, but yeh turned out really well i reckon...

not much time to get it sorted, first archerfield comp is on the 18th january, so theres a bit of work to do between now and then..

am going to finally upgrade to disk rear and go a twin caliper, seperate hydraulic handbrake setup, simply to get rid of the cable handbrake that forever needs tensioning and adjusting..... as well as a new engine into the car... oh well, should be easy compared to the work ive put into it in the past week....

yeh would be keen to get some nice pics before we beat it all up lol, but will have to get it sorted properly again first. i think i'd even be able to get paul from option one to get us a half hour at archefield to get some action shots as well, would be sweet as

car is looking great josh, hope u dont go too all out with ya motor as u may affect reliability n all that if your using wrecker motors it may be go good idea to just rebuild one maybe??? same spec as stock or something coz from what i have seen of this car performing it looks like u have ALOT of power to play with at the rears

anyway ill stop blabbin, car is awesome and best of luke to you and team kaizen in 08

mr2drift
28th December 2007, 12:43 AM
we've done some chatting to people in the know about the 1uz motors, apparently they have hollow, sodium filled exhaust valves, that under high stress conditions, are prone to letting go. ( i mean HIGH STRESS) so we will simply drop another wrecker one in for now and get another set of heads done with better valves, and some port work and see how they go, possibly a set of cams as well, but basically just simple mods to go with. yeh it dosent need any more power, but i definately dont want to keep breaking engines, so if thats an issue with them, we'll fix it...

dr1ft-pig
28th December 2007, 02:06 AM
yeah thats the go, i was thinking "wheres this going??? hes not chasing MORE power is he??"

cars come along way man, was only watching a vid the other day from when it was yellow and 4age at oran park

all i can say is wow

my thoughts exactly

riojin

they dont. all he did was replace pannels, bumper, bonnet and put some (looks like carbon fibre) light covers on. he chucked what looks like 2 supercheap style parkers under each light cover to act as headlights

mr2drift
1st January 2008, 04:38 AM
lol if only it was that easy, they are 2 sets of japanese full driving lights that use H3 bulbs, so i can replace them with HID's down the track, and the covers are steel originals, cut down, with a whole custom subframe made up that incorporates the covers and frames, as well as being the removable upper radiator support, so you simply unbolt either side behind the lights , and the whole upper panel removes, to allow much simpler fitting and removal of the engine and box combo. the lights are on a 3 pin plug so it all comes apart in about 5 minutes.. simple when you look at it, but HOURS AND HOURS of thought and fabrication to make it work so simply and effectively..

mr2drift

pffft popups are wayyyy to rare and costly to repolace when i hit shit, this is the cheapskates way out, i KNOW im gonna bend my shit, im not kidding myself and thinking its gonna stay looking like it does for the whole year, so why add to the future repair bill????

its not a street car, so it dosent need adr'd lights, just something to see with at the track.....

brads a top bloke, and if he can build you a strong 1uz he'll be able to do the same to mine :2thumbs:

jsut a sugestion, you should invest in making some fiberglass parker lenses and head light covers, there two things for the front end that would be the biggest pain to replace unless theres some after market ones in japan that i dont know about :) . and you could use them on all the kazien cars as well.

anyway, your latest reincarnation of your car look awesome! definitely a step above some of the nicest ae86's in aus.

car went well for first run with the 'new' engine after boxing days failure.... we all know its super fast at parklands, but at archy, im gonna have to set up for more exit speed, as it seems to just bag up out of the ultra tight corners there, and loses a lot of speed to other cars, once its moving though, its great....
