well we all like balls on our shafts

well i can tell you how to acchive this phenominal mod

get a golf ball (many colors to choose)

get a drill bit 10mm

bit if you have a 12mm use it

clamp golf ball in vice or simmilar or clamp if ur using a press

drill to ablot half the hight of ball then remove your old poo brown knob

then force down your golf ball onto shaft it will self tapp due to softer material

then when threads covered up all done

i use one in my car verry cool

Make sure you dont use a golf ball with a liquid center then. Most range balls have a solid center

Todd
28th December 2007, 05:23 PM
or those fake golf balls that explode into dust when you hit them?

stefan
28th December 2007, 05:24 PM
pics up and yes use solid centres

cheaply available from your local driving range by fence for free

Did this like 2 minutes aftrer reading. Pretty cool. I found if you just use a 10mm and sort of test then round it out some more then re-test untill you get a good fit.

Only thing is there's now a gap between the ball and the boot.

im thinking of doing this but with a pool ball. most likely a 3 or 11 (to match my car). just gonna drill a hole and put a M12-1.25mm nut inside glued in.

in fact im going to buy a set of balls just to do this so i may aswell do a few

I just recently borrowed a bag full of golf balls from my local driving range, but I think I'll hold out for a fluro one, or one that says 'this ball was stolen from....'

p00l cue ball is harder and way to large to use and harder to drill and more likely to crack

golf ball is winner softer material easier to maniuplate

I was pondering this before. I guess if you turn the fucker with a pulling up motion it will come off. But then again could possibly even thread of quite well, mine's definately staying for a while, feel is so much better. Sits in my hand awesome.

you have to start with a smaller drill first and move up. always take it slow and let the drill to the cutting and dont force it down. every few seconds pull the drill up before letting it cut some more to allow dust particles to move out of the hole and continue.

this should alow you to drill the pool balls easily without them cracking or chipping.

realistically they are quite big but again its just something else you gotta get used to. after youre used to it itll be fine

I started with a 3mm just for a guide hole, then used an 11mm. Fits peeeeeeeerfectly, self-tapped itself n all.

Might be a little different in my car as I've got a KE70 but well worth wasting a golfball on! :P

Thanks for the idea 'slippry'! :2thumbs:

I put a golfball on my T50 shifter yesterday, tried the pool ball but it was too hard and wouldn't screw on without being tapped and I didnt have the right size tap.

I would prefer a stock gearknob but both my T50s came with gay autohektika knobs that pull off in your hand.

it will have a shorter 'throw but it waont have a faster shift

Well, if my hand shifts at "X" m/s and the distance my hand has to move is halved, my shifts would be twice as quick

Todd
7th April 2008, 06:35 PM
man all it is, is simply a cut shifter, not a short shifter.

sure the throw is a smaller distance, which is why you call it a 'short shifter' but all it is in reality is a simple cut regular shifter.

this argument has been had many times.
call it a short shifter if you wish, but the shifts wont be as smooth as what you would get with a real short shift kit.

there are more reasons for this. rather than elaborate, forget about it yes?
thanks

i had at lease 500mm throw on my stick. thats why I'm seeking advice on shortening the stick. there was no way i could get that beast of a dildo shifter into 5th gear and i could play with the radio in the ke with my hand sitting on the gear stick in 3rd :teehee:

To be honest I think golf ball gear knobs look kinda stupid, ghetto is good if it's car related but this seems kinda surfy to me, rather than drift. But that's just my opinion, and massive respect for the idea and originality hahaha.
