Todd
1st February 2008, 02:56 PM
it was worth it, but there are still little imperfections that i have to get rid of. but i cannot be fucked doing it today.

after using a razor blade all day to remove the stripes, i was stupid enough to wash my hands in 66% ethanol handwash shit.

BAD IDEA.

information for those who care:

the list says :

steering wheel to comply (nardi fair enough)

all tyres to show ful tread, although wheel track inspect and measure because of wheels change from stock (????wtf?????)

windscreen crack fair enough

and a note down the bottom says supercharger was fitted at time of defect

car will most likely be stripped and sold in parts and a new car has to be sourced to make a conversion asap.

Todd
5th March 2008, 11:19 AM

cheers for the offer of the wheel man but i wont need it.

basicly the car will be parted out next week or so after i have finished my ten days of driving i have left.

tell me upfront if u want anything in particular and note i will be keeping engine/ecu/looom/pedalbox la di the
basicly all the things necessary for a conversion.

cheers

6th March 2008, 09:43 PM
so this is as she stands at the moment next to my brothers coupe.

the skinny stock wheels make it look like a sad old dumped corolla.

humph.
was hoping for pits run tomorrow although can't manage to get my hands on a corner light locally so I'm thinking it might not happen until monday.

wish me luck.

and any hints on what to look out for/make sure it works would be a great help.

thanks

Snoozy
6th March 2008, 09:50 PM
Only thing i would of said was make sure your wheels don't stick out past ur gaurds...

You have certainly fixed that problem ;)
yeh good luck with it dude

HAHAH yeahhhhhh.

this looks ridiculous.
ah well.

Nikkojoe
6th March 2008, 10:32 PM
make it look clean and no wires and dodgy looking shit hang out of the bay, tyres legal, no grease/oil leaks, steering rack no play, wheel bearings no play, swaybar links not loose etc....

Also which pits you going to? Make sure you get there REALLY REALLY early. They are stupidly busy lol...

Todd
6th March 2008, 10:34 PM
will be heading to the oconnor ones most probably as they are the nearest to my place.

yeah will be getting there like 6.30 for a 7am start on monday
woot woot for early starts

Matt-AE86
7th March 2008, 09:42 AM
Todd, DO NOT GO TO O'CONNOR. Unless you know someone there or are a regular, you will get raped. Go to Welshpool or Kelmscott if you want a chance.

Todd
7th March 2008, 01:51 PM
okay haha which one do you propose is slightly easier?

note to self DO NOT GO TO OCONNOR.

Matt-AE86
7th March 2008, 03:17 PM
We've never had problems with Welshpool. If you just act normal and talk to them nicely and shit, have a conversation etc. Don't tell lies, they are usually good.

Todd
7th March 2008, 06:25 PM
so i know i wasnt sposed to go to oconnor but i did

this is my new revised list.

front springs not captive

need immobiliser fitted/working

approval of engine conversion (hopefully just the paperwork will be fine and i wont need an engineer)

exhaust too loud.

so all up I'm looking at probably around 400-500 bucks to get her back on the road legally.
given that i don't need an engineeers report.

ill be heading to welshpool next up because i have to for the engine conversion to be looked at.
today wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be.
wish me luck

Matt-AE86
8th March 2008, 12:57 AM
Should have gone to welshpool. Probably would have passed, bar the front springs

Nikkojoe
8th March 2008, 01:10 AM
It's not that easy with a ke70 as its a 4k to start with going to a 4a (increased capacity from 1.3-1.6L). That said, you may just say the crossmember is from an ae71 which uses a 4a block. The problem may be brakes (assuming you are still running standard ke70 brakes) but it may get overlooked.

Good luck, should have gone to welshpool lol...

Todd
8th March 2008, 03:28 PM
yeah nikkojoe your right on the money there.
changing from the k series to an a series engine is bit of a hassle in their eyes i think.
the inspector didnt actualy care/realise it was a supercharged engine until he did his paperwork inside and his computer told him it was not naturalyl aspirated.(dumbass) lol even though it has massive SUPERCHARGER written on the cam covers.
although when he did return from his drive around the block in it, he did comment on how 'nimble' it was. rofl

the modifications included that happened along with the engine conversion itself are the steering system including the A series crossmember from an ae71.

that having been said, i think it might be okay seeing as all the correct running gear is installed correctly and working as it should.

the brakes have not been upgraded although I'm fitting new shoes in the rear and the front disc pads are quality lucas items so it wont have a problem of stopping in a hurry, but the assessors may have a bit of an issue with them not being upgraded with the engine.

so new captive springs will have to be sourced from somewhere (thinking ajps), immobiliser done, throw another muffler in the works, then ill give it another go as soon as these things have been done.

this time AT WELSHPOOL haha

Matt-AE86
9th March 2008, 08:07 PM
I got some stock ke70 springs if you want to put them in dude :) I just took them out of mine today.

cheers

sdm86
7th April 2008, 10:50 PM
its always funner when its illegal.
don't get it engineered sell me your lip and rims

TOY3TG
7th April 2008, 10:55 PM
ha, i got done by the cops one night and they searched my whole car top 2 bottom, checked engine number and everything, which does match rego sticker because its still a 3t but not engineered for turbo or half the other shit, and they didnt say a word, they just said whats this crap in your boot (fuel pumps) and they didnt care probly just looking for drugs. then another time i got done for being noisy like right near my house and the lady cop (who ran out in front of me from someones yard bloody idiot) was like god your cars noisy and started looking for a muffler at the back she looked for ages and I'm like "cough cough" you wont find it there she didnt know what to say cos it comes out the side, she goes "oh is that legal" and i said i dunno i think so I'm not sure i made up some bullshit story about how it only has 2 doors so i think its ok and she went along with it. but its way over the dB limit anyway. still gave me an 80buk fine for being noisy cos i accelerated quick, the old hag.

bad news about your KE70 hope u find one just as straight. engineering certificates are gay.

Todd
8th April 2008, 04:13 PM
this is how she sits at the moment.

looking a bit sad i must say, with ra40 stockos + 185/75/14s on, looks a little sillly but managed a little bit of tuck hahahaha

ps. don't burn me, they are just spare wheels...

weird...

Todd
5th May 2008, 08:53 PM
so a few more updates for the children out there.

it now has the following:

disc t series zenki rear end
rear strut brace
ae86 front suspension
kyb shocks+7kg front springs
jdm ae86 front brakes
fairly mint ae71 radiator
madhouse lip (not yet mounted)

all i need now to get my engineers report and get it fully legal and registered is a cat converter drop in drop out section somewhere in my exhaust....
(i have no room left with 2 res and a muffler)

also picked up a t18 front bar for $15 however the brackets/mounts were bent and didnt sit quite flush.

still chasing a firm rear suspension setup and quadlightfront+plastic capped chrome bars.

if anyone can help me out with some of the above parts then let me know

also i recently acquired a 4agte ae71 parts car which i am currently pulling apart at the moment so if anyone is interested in a multitude of parts, check out my for sale thread in the parts section.

I DID A BOTTOM END BEARING TODAY

I LOVE FUCKING CARS

NOW TIME FOR A NEW 4AGZE FROM A LATE MAP AE92 HALFCUT

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

Todd
20th May 2008, 05:44 PM
okay so as some of you may know, i recently fucked my last engine.
it would drive but all i would hear is a big SLAP SLAP SLAP...and we all know thats not healthy.

it manged to happen a week before i was scheduled to get my engineers report written up and remove the yellow sticker.

anyway, so i had to source an engine from somewhere and knew about a local place called HONBITS (thanks guys) with an ae92 MAP halfcut for sale.
went in, asked, managed to get the engine without charger or throttle body or anything for 1200 which i think is a pretty good deal.
so then i went about picking it up, trailering it home (a gze ke70 towing a gze haha) and gave it a freshen up in my driveway over the course of a day.

anyway sunday came and we had proposed to get it in so we got started pulling the old one out.
anyway, ill let the pictures do some talknig from here.

but basicly the new engine is fresh, smooth, and pulls very nicely indeed.

JinxD
21st May 2008, 01:08 AM
that dual gze shit made me lol but yeah wow that looks clean as.. noticable difference to your old gze pre slapper stage? , i bet your mother loves you for the destruction of her driveway once again haha

Nikkojoe
21st May 2008, 01:12 AM
You did remember to put a new spigot bearing on the new gze didn't you? Otherwise it will be box off for you again :)

Todd
21st May 2008, 01:33 PM
i remembered nikko :)

although it has to be box off anyway cos this one keeps popping out of second gear.
it was a bad idea to change from a good box to an unknown box...humph

this car is so close to legality it hurts!

Todd
17th June 2008, 05:59 PM

my mates at south street auto parts in perth haha.

basicly just head into ur local auto shop (not repco or supercheap, go one of the more privateering kidna shops that wont rip u off) and ask for 7x6 inch lights with a diamond finish.
i forgot what brand mine are, but just make sure u get decent quality ones. you should be looking around the $50 each mark
then for the bulbs, again i got discounts from the guys at the shop, but they usually retail for about 70 bucks for a good pair of bulbs.
again, iv forgotten the brand name, but they are 100/95 watters. and are very bright lol

hope that helps

Todd
19th June 2008, 03:05 PM
lol it should be fine seeing as they don't even inspect me now, all my defects have been cleared, its just a matter of getting my fucking engineers report back from the snails in the office.

oh and i put that gates belt on.

the difference is massive!

Todd
11th August 2008, 03:31 PM
hokay well alot has changed since my last update really...
