Hello all

I'm bored so i thought i would post up my car.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/6/0/1/6808.jpg

I got my new toy for $1000 square with rego until the 10th of April. She has relatively little rust and an awesomely powerful 4kc :)

Mods so far:

Remove shit
cusco camber tops
ajaps front coilovers
ae86 calipers and disks
Whiteline swaybars front and back

Stuff coming:

Rose jointed LCA's from AJPS
RCA's
Rear 6kg springs and shocks from AJPS
Front strut brace
Noltec Panhard rod

Car looks slightly more lopsided that the above pic due to having standard spring in the rear :) :greenbounce:

Na that was when i first got it.

Still not much camber in the front but the rose jointed LCA's should fix that.

And the front end is now harassing ants.

Just a little update.

I may just do that.

Will slam the front for maximum angle... lol

ae71
28th March 2008, 05:43 PM
along with slamming the front, add bundy number plates, a big alloy bull bar and several 7m areals (one for whireless, mobile phone, uhf and a couple for good luck).

now all you need is a rattle less (timing chain) 3TC!!!

Just a little update.

Challengers are on with some 175/65/r14's and only just clear the spring perch's on the front. Had to adjust them up a little to fit them on.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Love learning about cars so i thought the best way to do it was to build one myself rather than just buying one ready to go.

@ѕнісні-jyu I just cut some rubber door stops i had in half and wedged em under the urethane mounts... they have held so far. Probably will make up some proper mounts when i get the time.

Got a cusco strut brace and panhard rod on the way.

Spacers, superlights and flares next.

Thanks dudes.

The 3tc is fucking sick. Proof is in the pudding when it comes to comparing it with the 4k.

Cut my lap times today at Baskerville from 1:16with the 4k to 1:11:7 with the 3tc.

All this with an absolutely rooted carby as i decided to have a tinker with it <_<

Seriously contemplating entering round 4 with the car as it is but i have this on the way which may render me out for a little while.

ace, good stuff man, those lap times are bloody awsome, gunan be shit quick with the turbo set up, is that the one off that green ke20 no rollaclub? i remember browsing the thread ages ago thinking it was one of the neatest 3t turbo set ups id seen, better than some jobs ive seen, ya need to invest in some semislicks next i reckon, will knock a good 2 seconds off ya times easily, which rnd 4 ya entering? tss or tas drift series?

any ways, good shit man, give me a yell next time ya goin out to basky, my sprinters ready for some more track time again.

pope
5th July 2008, 06:49 PM
Dunno if it's the same one. Got it from some dude on toymods.

Will be looking into some 15x7 or 8 superlights with re001's as my next set of wheels.

Was thinking of entering whichever is on the 19th of July but the turbo setup will probably throw that out the window.

Will definately hit you up next time me and the boys decide to head out. I think we may be heading out again this coming sat with my bros 180.

Below is the new 2 1/4" exhaust that i got made up.

[attachment=27883:DSC01241r.jpg]
[attachment=27884:DSC01242r.jpg]

And here is the dodgy engine conversion that surprisingly powered the only car not to have troubles yesterday.

wheels and tyre choice soudns spot on.

rnd 3 is on the 19th i think, tas drift series?

don't think i will make next weekend mate, heading nw for a motorkhana

exhaust looks the goods, doesnt stand out too much, gunna ditch the mud flaps any time soon :P ?, will look heaps better without them imo

engien conversion looks good to, looks very factory, no one would know the difference if ya got pulled over or anything,

top work man, what did ya end up doing with the mounts? did ya track down some ta22 engine sections to use with t18 rubber sections?

Motorkhana should be fun :2thumbs:

Mudflaps are gone as per your request but only for drag and weight saving reasons :teehee:

The turbo should take car of the factory look and was sent today so should be end of the weekish.

For the engine mounts i just sourced some 3t engine brackets that had been shortened slightly and slid some rubber in between them and the original 4k crossmember.
Why pay for cusco solid mounts???
Getting a welder on Thursday so i will cut the originals and do it properly over the weekend.

You mentioned a 3T-GTE intake manifold, what's the go, is it a bolt on fit?

federal

i don't think its a direct bolt on affair.....I'm pretty sure that the inlet manifolds were different between the 2t/3t/3tgte but the exhaust manifolds stayed the same ;)

Yeah those Americans must do it for some reason.

What happened to you last one??? Still trying to figure out what stock stuff i need to change to make it reliable.

The setup wasn't designed by me. Used to hate Carbies but the Stromberg is so simple even i can understand how it works.

Oil is my biggest problem atm as you can see in the pic. The return line is currently going down via the dipstick hole. The turbo is also drinking some oil and i have a feeling i may need to look at finding a carbon sealed turbo or converting this one.

Cheers for the encouragement :teehee:

Nah I thought it was but looking at some pics it's completely different.

Thinking for 200 for everything i should still get it and try and modify it with my new welder.

Then again the Stromberg is very nice.

Suggestions???

my 3tc turbo was a very primative sort of setup....i blew it up after about a week, but i still drove it around for another 2 months pouring smoke out the breather in the head and out the back of the exhaust....hahaha

i had mine as a completely stock 3tc that had done about 250,000k's...also had a blown head gasket before i started....

the main thing you need to do to keep it going is fuel, fuel, fuel....i was running mine into a 32/36 weber and only using a single Facet fuel pump (rated to 4psi), which meant that as soon as it came on boost the fuel would get pushed back down the lines....

don't forget that you will also need to "lock" your dizzy so it doesnt keep advancing when it comes on boost ;)

for the oil return line, just get a fittting put into the sump on the exhaust side

for the oil feed, just run a line from the oil pressure sender on the inlet side of the block, along the bottom of the cross member and then up to the turbo ;)

thats how i did it....

if i was to do it again i would definately add a Carby Fuel Pressure Regulator (needs to have a vacuum input) and a VL pump, just to keep up with the fuel needs

Ha ha sounds like you didnt want it to last long at all

Oil feed has already been t'd into the oil pressure sender. Will get the return welded in when the engine goes in for a refresh.

Do i need a fuel pressure regulator in a draw through setup??

Need to find a place to lock the dizzy or some info on how to do it myself.

federal
13th July 2008, 10:15 PM
not sure about regulator on a suck through setup as mine was blow through.....

yeh i didnt really care if it lasted hahaha

From fuel pump to carby.

floody31

Nah.... running from just below the thermostat housing, off the T-shaped pipe. Hose is running off to somewhere on the drivers side near the headlight, what is it hooked up to? Mine runs to underneath the intake manifold.
