Im pretty sure the threads called biggest dish/Stretched tyres
euro dudes have been doing dish and stretch since way back, it definetly isnt a japanese specific trend, besides if BBS's were more redily available at SSR/work prices im sure people would but them
i personally think all types of stretch and dish should be valid

can't recall the exact specs but it had a thread on the old site
fronts are 9.25. rears are 9.5. has one pair of 10.5 he is making. the lips are only 4" or 4.5" though... ive order some 5s ;)
centers on the champs are concave though, and then its sandwiched, so there is a fair amount of offset there too.
the offset has never been calculated. i dont think brett knows how exactly, because he doesnt care.
the story is. ant imported goldy. which had 15x8.5 -21 ssr f mesh, and 15x9 -22 01s on it. he measured the dish they had, and then ordered lips with 1" more. lol.

im pretty sure the forums called ae86 dc. lol. lets not even do this :) i just find it annoying to see here. im aware its not just a J trend. ive owned a few mk1s, would still own one if my land lord didnt make me sell it cos i had "too many cars".. very annoying. was already sitting on 13x8s with 175 50s :)
in germany it is legal to have the rim/side wall poking. their law actually states the treaded section of the tire must be within the guard. so its legal from that point of view. and some of their tires at some point/maybe even now, are even listed as being approved to fit stretched (i.e allowed to fit to a wider rim than the tread section width).
tis powered by teh nissan poo though?
it is. S14 sr20det. s13 power fc. vct removed. cams, gears, stoppers, hks 2510.
you wouldnt call it poo if you saw it ;) the sr suits the car to a t. its a complete over the top drift build. and SRs are drifting bread and butter.
anyway blah blah week or 2 ill have something special for this thread :)

Yeah they're Chrome, but not too new school. Zepters I believe, which were The Shit in the late 90's in the glory days of Fast Fours and Hot4's :P Not sure of size 18x?, at least they're not +50 (WRX fitment). Definately looks like an Aussie car going by the ADM body style, colour coding and bogans in the backround (maybe in paddock @ Mallala or Eastern Creek?)
Disclaimer: I don't encourage this fitment. IMO æsthetically the size and style works well here. It's clean and simple (no kit!), original colour and low, only other cue is the HKS Hiper hanging out the back which leads me to believe it's circa 2000.

What does it cost for the average punter to widen some mesh?
Say, be half an inch on some 8.5's and and inch on some 8's.
Would the fact the mesh lip is flat (southern Ways mesh) make it easier?
Cheers man.

slydar
22nd April 2009, 08:55 PM
that depends on the wheels. not just how wide.
ssr/longchamps are easy.
work/watanabe are hard.
ssrs usually have a long flat section on one side, the tire can seal on.. where as say a work equip, both sides are short, so you need to be tricky to get them on.
like even an 8" equip can be hard, but a 9" ssr will be easy, with the same 195 50 tire.

Like Dimitri said, depends on the rims design, but in this case i just hit them with the bead blaster, they are shitty second hand tyres that needed it due to old curled sidewalls.
Dimitri, what are the specs of those ones you're getting made up? Look good.

There is a full set of 15x8.5 -14 Impul mesh on yahoo for around 1800 delivered it would work out to be through streeter.
New SSR's come in 15x9 +0 from yahoojp
SSR Mesh are around on yahoo in 9 -2's which was a popular sizing.
Keep looking man, shit will pop up!
