See the 'how to' guide in the FAQ for slaughtering your own whale.

10w40 if its a fairly freshly rebuilt, slighty thicker if its not, 20w40.

As for brands, its an open ended argument, do some searching on here, theres a fair few discussion about it.

Some people like semi-synthetics, other like full, just do some searching, get some opinions.

In the end, if you keep changing it regularly, any brand should be ok.

Thanks to my old engines thirsty ways, Ive tried about a dozen kinds of oil in the car lately.

Including but not limited to:
Valvoline XLD Engine armour
Shell Helix Ultra (grey bottle)
Shell Helix Normal Full Synth (blue bottle)
Penrite Sin 15
Penrite HPR 30
Caltex Servo Crap

All of it worked of course, I preferred the Helix Ultra in the engine, was very revvy. The HPR 30 was thick as tar cold but quite good hot. The sin 15 is more like 5 weight and just disappears into a cloud of smoke in an old engine. The standard helix synthetic is a very good compromise if your car isnt burning it. I think its 10w/30 (blue bottle). Thats what I'm using from now on, its readily available, good quality and synthetic.

The one oil Ive heard only good things about is Redline, but I didn't want to pay for it while my car was skolling it.

i get fully synthenic castrol subaru oil. change it every second track day.

better off doing more frequent changes than using heaps expansive stuff and not changing it often.

Valvoline Durablend 15w40. Change when I feel it needs changing (less than 4-5000km), then probably dump it in a 4ac :D

In that 4-5000km it might see a drift practise/ track session
