Well, its about time I got this up.

Its going to be the L's car, and used when my brother gets back from overseas. The main idea behind keeping it is so I can finish the sedan to the exact specs I want it to be, and be "ready" to drive it in time. eg. have the skills to drive it like it should be.

Heres a rundown of what it has:

Worked 4K-C
W50 5 speed gearbox
Leaf sprung S series
Poo brown colour
Rust
Wheels
Dings
Semi stripped interior

Plans:
Panelbeat all dings out
Put chrome front bar on
Fix all rust
Lower it a bit
Konig B-Bombs hopefully
Eventually swap front ends on it to early front
Better shocks and springs in the front
Install twinky steering wheel
Respray
Madhouse front lip
Bit of front camber
DRIVE IT!

Pics up later tonight, need to study maths cause I have a half yearly tomorrow. I love leaving things to the last minute!

Pics as promised.

When it first started out:
These pics were taken the day after it arrived. The interior was pretty much all stripped out besides the dash and pressure cleaned. All came up sweet, also degreased the engine bay the following week and fixed the clutch.

Then the interior was put back in, and the front guard pulled off for panelbeating. The panel came out much better than it was, but still has small dings here and there. The stickers were peeled off the rear quarters, sanded back and repainted in the original colour with a coat of clear. In the pics its only sanded, not painted.

The guard was put back on and repainted, the rear quarters repainted and the rear hatch repainted. The bump strips were pulled off, and the redneck passenger mirror was replaced with an AE71 mirror. The ripped to shit headlining was also ripped out and has made the interior look 3x better.

Bull bar is gay. Coming off this weekend and being replaced by a mint panelvan front bar.

Whole front end panels are rat shit, theyre full of dings. Bonnet is semi rusty too.

Yeah this was on ebay. I won the bid on it and got it. It was then put back on all fixed up trying to geta few $$.
But its now staying, unless someone offers me something good for it.

KeWagon - Yeah, the extra room is sick! Thats another plus to keeping it. I surf pretty often, so it will some in handy at times.

Will get more pics this weekend when I fix it up a bit. ie. put front bar on and straighten rear one a bit more.

Awesome!
Will look rad once its nice and low on some nice rims. Also will look awesome with KE70 sedan/wagon front panels if you end up going that way.
Chuck the driving lights on with the new bar (maybe make some brackets instead of drilling the bar though) for the win.

All I want is a mint looking daily, which is sort of pimp. Something like this:

http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/958/post9561206965293uf4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

First thing to do is to get those dings out and the rust fixed up. Also want to get the angle grinder out on those front springs.

starni_boy
16th May 2008, 07:10 PM
I don't really know what I want to do yet. Could always throw the sakura's on it. Not likely....

Anyway, Did some stuff on it this arvo, looks much better.
Pulled Bullbar off
Spray painted the headlight surrounds and grille black
Pulled rear numberplate light shroud off the straighten it out

Took it for a drive up the street, and it goes sweet! It actually accelerates quite well and goes fast enough.
Even though I havent been in a 4age powered car, I think it could come close to it.

Well, Here are a few pics of progress. Front end is all fixed up, Looks heaps better than what it was! Stripped some shit I didnt need from the inside and straightened the rear "Toyota Corolla" shroud slightly. Its twice as better then what it was, but I still have to get it perfectly straight and smooth, No Bog allowed either!

Also took off the gay trueno steering wheel, and threw on the Twin Cam wheel. Decided to have a different wheel on the sedan :P

Also, when pulling off the Corolla shroud peice, I found out that the Rear hatch has been fully fish oiled, which is a plus..

got pics of the w50 box setup?

starni_boy
23rd May 2008, 04:36 PM
Can get pics yeah..

Its definately not a standard 5 speed box, cause the floor has been cut and a plate bolted over where the normal shifter position is. I then read that people often convert to w50 gearbox's on 5K engines, which made me think that this gearbox was a possibility.

Will get pics now.

Cheers. No idea what box it is then.

Anyway, I fixed the "Toyota Corolla" rear hatch shroud. Its a lot straighter than it was, but still not perfectly straight like from the factory.

box is a k50, stock 5 spd for the k series engines. check the build plate and see if the car was originally auto, as that would be the most likely reason for mods (if any).

lets see that thing lower. commo wagon rear shocks and flip the 2nd leaf, should sit well.

Looks good man!

Have a look around pickie wreckers, see if you can't find a mattress for it!

We found one for lawsons car at u-pull-it back in the day. From that moment, it became the creepiest vehicle known to man.

Yes, you should put yours up!
Also, Here is a pic of the rear numberplate light shroud all straightened out (did it in 20mins, could be better...)

Going to New Zealand soon, to hit up some slopes, and maybe bring back some parts. Looking at getting a bunch of chrome bars (probably wont sell them), and a pair of T18 style headlights for this front end. If I can find the lights, Will be pulling the front panels off this car and sandblasting them, then making them all mint and storing them away. Will then try find a slanty front chrome bar and a quad light chrome bar and then put an AE71 front on the van, quad light bar on the sedan.

Sounds like a plan!

Had to move the van to get dads car out of the garage. Thought it was picture worthy!

Just heard that my brother is now coming back from overseas soon, so this car now has to be the main focus. Need to straighten the shell out, get a 32/36 weber, Get new windscreen, cut rust out and weld it up, get window strip and lower it. Possibility on superlites from AJPS or Konig B-bombs from Kyouteki, also a possibility on Corona LCA's.

Well, just got back from New Zealand today. Brought back 2 boxes of parts, some for this car, the others to sell off.

1x Pair JDM KE Van headlights
1x JDM KE Sprinter grille complete
1x Pair JDM looking Tail lights for this car.

Quite cool, and the parts weren't too hard to find, just expensive..

Starting the search for a bonnet, Beaver panel, LHS guard and grille to suit the lights I have planned for this one.

Until then, It will be converted to slanty front with plastic bumpers front and rear, Until I convert to the Jap front, When I will run 8 or 8.5's all round and put all the chrome bars back on.

I just polished the rocker cover. Looks much more respectable in the engine bay now.

To make it look more respectable I still have to do:
-Braided lines through the bay
-Chrome air filter
-wiring neaten up

Then the bay will be mint after all this.

Water flushed from the radiator, took 3 rinses before th water came out clear.
Some smart chap put a plug on the bottom of the radiator which made changing coolant much easier.

I then took it for a quick drive in the mud, was pretty damn funny.

I also just paid for some rear windows, the ones that pop open. JDM styles.....

Pics up soon.

Windows turned up on friday arvo, but I was the snow over the weekend.

Opened them up today, they're mint and have no cracks or anything from shipping which is great.

They are already in storage, will come back out for the "external" rebuild, which is when i do the exterior to how I want it, then later I'll put some sort of transplant into it.

Hmm, its been a while since i've updated this. Anyway, a little bit has happened since last time.

^^Windows, away in storage now.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/177537.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
^^Started flipping the rear leaves, but it looked much too low. Was almost on bump stops!

So I put them back to normal, and put new KYB Excel G's in the back.

^^It sat like this, but felt much better while driving.

And here's today's efforts...

Welded all the cracks in the door jams, I have no idea how it happened in the first place. But its ok now, its repaired :)

you got the windows in yet clint?

i was speaking to benny the other day and he said he worked this engine alittle. im pretty sure he told me he got it ported, a mild cam, 5k carb and some extractors. maybe worth investigating?

starni_boy
28th September 2008, 10:07 AM
Not yet, Will do it when I put the jap front on then get it painted at the same time.
Yeah, I think he said its got a cam upgrade, 5k carb, shaved head, bigger valve springs. Not sure about the porting but it could be a possibility.

Almost spun this out yesterday too.. Twas quite the hilarious.
