Looks the goods mate, what made you go with the wastegate coming off the rear housing? Better boost control or not being able to fit it off the manifold?
And are you planning on building the engine or leaving it as is for now?

i plan on leaving the motor as is for the moment as i have a s14 that I'm currently rebuilding and thats my daily so thats a bit more important at the moment. i went with the waste gate off the rear housing for better boost control, never had good experiences with high boost and waste gates off the manifold.

also here are a few more pics that i couldnt add in the first post as i have too many pics.

HKS 264 degree step 1's are already in

cheers guys, i sure hope it ends up finishing off just right. ive put enough time into it, i don't want to rush the last of it now. motor will be going back in next week if all goes well, then ill try and get it all ready. i want to race it down the quarter and track race it, thats my intentions anyway, hopefully we get a strip built here sometime soon

SRT070

cheers for the comments guys.

true about the cross member it wasnt really necessary, it was a while ago, but yeh it will hold. It wont be used in drift, drift isnt my scene really each to their own though. most likely will be seen on the street aswell. ive been building it for a while, it will be two years coming up in august. i didnt meet my deadline which was about a year ago but i did some major changes in my plan, which resulted in the roll cage and bigger tunnel so i can adapt a rb25 box to the SR. and the fact that my daily is getting a freshen up now to

oh yeh its a definate plan to keep it sleeper. I'm keeping that original paint thats on it, will need to tint up the windows to hide the cage, but besides that it will look exactly how it is. cheers for the comments again guys, can't wait to have it finished then ill take it out on a meet

Lol sorry man I loose track pretty easily, I've got a 4.8 open centre sitting here that I'm thinking of sticking in while my lsd is getting rebuilt but I'm not sure if thats gonna be a good idea or not.. What do you reckon?

could be a little bad. depending on how much power you have, but could be a pretty good chance you will blow it. how long will your diff be until its rebuilt? cause if you car isnt a daily, the diff shouldnt take long, id personally just wait, otherwise you will probably cause yourself more headaches.

RussianMafia000
23rd July 2008, 11:54 AM
Mm that doesn't sound too good lol. Currently I'm not exactly sure what is wrong with the lsd, the guy at the diff shop said to bring it up to them and they will have a look but most likely said they will rebuild it which is going to cost around $700...
So I'm trying to put it off for aslong as I can lol, which is why I was hoping to use the open 4.8 but if you think it won't work out too well I might just get the lsd done. Making around 300hp at the wheels to give you an idea

with 300Hp you will probably be able to get away with it. depends how you drive at the end of the day. sr in a rolla i can assume its not driven lightly

RussianMafia000

ive got it that big so i can get to all the bolts on the gearbox with ease, before hand i couldnt reach one bolt on the sides or top so thats why i got it that big. plus i have it that big to fit an rb25 box when i do the conversion in the near future, that way i don't need to go through 10 sr boxes

So i couldnt resist a good deal for a bigger intercooler and picked up this puppy for 350, it comes in a kit for a s14 with a radiator aswell, but i went halves with a mate and i took the cooler as he needed the rad. this will be getting mounted on the rolla soon enough. can't wait

Its more than big enough, the one you have on there will flow just aswell, I'm guessin your goin for the 300kw mark? I've seen those cheap china ones flow 600kw worth of air. imo keep the smaller one on run it up on the dyno and check the temp, and go from there, big isn't always better.

Edit: forgot to add, bloody good build dude.

yeh i know what your saying but its not the flow I'm concerned with its the cooling factor too. ill be at 300kw to start with. but ill go heaps more soon after. when i build the motor up and put serious boost in it ill aim for 400+

EDIT: it wont be just building the motor but including doing the head and putting better cams in and porting.

great build up dude, lots of time, effort and planning have gone into this beast.

good idea on the trans tunnel.

its near impossible for me to get to the filler plugs and sender units on my sr box and my tunnel has been "massaged" rather heavily.

and at least with the rb box, ur shifter hole should line up pretty close with the stocko position.
but bad news is, the rb box aint any stronger..it aint gonna outlast 10 sr boxes. lol
its just better coz shifter lines up, rather than butchering the floor of the *e7* to get the sr box to fit.

save ur cash and get a hilux diff now... ive got just over 185rwkw in my 70 and ive done about 10 sets of axles and half a dozen s and t series centres. and i havent hit the track yet, thats just from daily and weekend abuse.

big bucks for a hilux, but it'll be the best $$$ you spend.
one less worry when u drop the clutch.

Correct me if wrong but I've always thought the RB25 boxes are VERY strong, especially compared to a SR box?

SRT070
12th August 2008, 07:16 PM
cheers for the input. in regard to your comments sly1300

i wont need a hilux diff as i have a borg warner diff with a new LSD centre and 4.11 gears. the weakest point will be the axles as there limit is about 600hp, which is my aim so i should be alright. if anything later on ill go full floating axles.

the Rb boxes are much stronger, there is a reason why they are heaps larger. the thing that kills RB boxes is the torque, and a sr20 wont produce as much torque as that of a worked RB that i know for a fact. i know other people that have done it and it eliminated the problem. an RB box on a RB will most likely break with enough beat down, but as i said its torque that kills RB boxes

RB25 box is positively HUGE compared to a sr20/rb20/ca18 series boxes and are much stronger.
