NOTE: the car used is a ke70! if u have a pic of stock ke70 lock throw it up!

I think JDM rack has more teeth

RobertoX

ae86 racks have one more tooth, which is further emphasised by a lock spacer

i would like to know this also...

anyone experimented with maximum rim and tire sizes?

For example, Whats on the ke70 SHICHI?

Well I have powersteering arms and reasonably neutral off set Xr4s and with just p/s arms I just scrub at full lock...

Tom (aka NikkoJoe) has p/s arms and a lock spacer and needs to run spacers on his fronts to drift or else live with serious scrubbing...

Talk to tom for more details dom :)

6th July 2008, 01:26 PM
for the scrubbing issue you also need to take into account what control arms are being run....and obviously wheel size and offset

for example:

i was running, AJPS Lock Spacer and PS arms, in conjunction with rose jointed controls arms set at 25mm longer than stock, with camber tops set fairly neutral, with a pair of 15x8 -9 challengers rapped in 195/50/15's and had no scrub....

MountainRunner
6th July 2008, 03:12 PM
I'm running the following :
cusco camber tops (set all the way to positive
PS arms
NRCA's
Xt130 LCA's
ae86 rack
PS arms
locker spacer

14x7 0 on 185/60R14 yoko c drives

No scrub :) can test fit 14x7.5 -8 and 14x8 on the front if any 1 wants me to

Correct, there aren't enough teeth in the rack as dave said. Although I have read somewhere that you can put one lock spacer in the left side of the rack and re-centre the pinion gear to the rack, giving you a bit more lock. I don't know how true this is though.

The only other option is to get the rack machined with more teeth, but this can be costly..

hmmm, faster steering or more lock.....

RobertoX
14th July 2008, 07:15 PM
cut more teeth into quaife and have best of both worlds

then

its harder to steer

then you get bigger muscles

then you get more vagin!!!!

so its a win x3

it is a bit of a quandry r.e the quick rack vs lock

i really like the quick rack and am happy with the level of lock i have just with p/s arms

the more competitive (read: skilled) drivers may have the need for the lock though over the quick steering. brett has extra teeth cut in his quaife rack to take full advantage of the lock an S13 front end can provide, he is a demon steerer any advantage he can get anywhere is put to good use.

Lawson's plan of attack is the best one. they aren't much harder to steer at all, no where near as bad as is made out.

hmm ive been wondering this
I'm running xt130 LCA's, 40mm RCA, camber top probably run -2.5 camber and ps arms. now i got a lock spacer on the way and I'm just concerned if ill get any rubbing.
wheels are 15x7" +11 with 195/50. i really don't want to run a slip on :(

PS. do i have to cut tie rods?

RobertoX
15th July 2008, 12:51 PM
no, the xt130 arms negate this

Slip-ons can make the problem worse or just move the rubbing point, it all depends on wheel size/offset and tyre size ofcourse.

rubbing can be added to the tyre well and bumper which can be fixed with a mallet(to the tyre well) and a jigsaw(to the bumper).

i don't think you will have a prob though.

JDM-086
18th July 2008, 12:55 AM
I'm currently gettin some rub on the inside of the wheel...not sure on the correct term of it but closer to where ur chasis rail would be. this is just with PS arms, i was thinking small slip ons and increasing castor, u think thatd help? if u were to take the wheel off the rubbing would be on the left side of the LCA so closer to the rear of the car.

Dom86
18th July 2008, 08:39 PM
try caster first, should help and will help make the car less twitchy too, you may get more rubbing on bumper.

if it don't fix it completly, put on the slip-ons.

make sure you get a wheel allignment when your happy.

...and when checking for rubbing spots, put the car on the ground and make sure you compress the springs/shocks so they are at opperating hieght.
