Ok, Every story has to start somewhere.
Just bought my first 2 KE70's. Both rust free..... Both cars have all original booklets/manuals, service reciepts, sale receipts etc... Have the full life history of both cars.....

Red one (Kevo) is an 1981 flat front 'XX' edition. Factory 5 speed, Air con, Tacho Dash, Rust free, but windscreen is smashed (baseball bat attack)

The White one (Stu) is an 1984 slant front, rust free. Got it with no motor or box, rust free..

The plan for the 2 rollas are to have one as street registered and the other one a hillclimb/track car....

It begins here

Nice Finds - Looks like a nice collection too! Be interesting to see what you do with these :)

The white one, which is good, but just not as 'tidy' as the red one, so it will be the Track/Hillclimb/Motorsport car. In the shed, I have a few motors lying about the place (as you do). So one of these motors will go in this car. One is a JDM Bigport (3 rib) 4AGE, and the other is a 4AGZE (7 rib), but I dont have any of the supercharger stuff, not that I would want a supercharged setup anyway.
I like the idea of having a carby'd 4AGE, but it's hard to also look past bolting a turbo up to the GZE motor, as I already have alot of the parts needed, and I am quite happy with the power I get from the 4AGTE I have in my AE86, for how easy they are to setup.

Early days yet......

The Red one will be road registered. It is quite a tidy shell, and is complete, apart from the smashed windscreen. Just gotta get a new dizzy rotor cap this week, and I will try starting up the old 4K. Hoping it will start and the motor in drivable condish, no smoke, clutch ok etc.... If all is ok, I will get it registered, and drive it around for a while as a daily, until I decide on a motor for it.
I had a look underneath the front, and there were NO oil leaks to be seen (suprised) and it has had new bushes in the front steering (red? Pedders?). The steering rack in it is fucked though. But that's not a problem, as I've just taken a good KE70 rack out of Sloths (Craig) KE70 which I am currently doing a conversion on aswell. That will be bolted in soon enough. I have an XT130 corona, which I am going to start stripping. The XT130 front suspension (struts, LCA's, brakes, steering arms) will go in as a starting base for this cars upgrades...

Hmmmm, it looks like I am going to have to name these two, calling them 'red one' and 'white one' doesn't satisfy me

I am in the process of getting the red 70 (Kevo) ready for a rego inspection. It will be registered with the 4K before I do the 4AGE conversion.
What needs to be done:

New windsrceen......................... DONE
Headlight Surrounds and parkers.................................DONE
Cheap rego tyres............................DONE
Panhard rod bushes
Fix headlight/wiring problem (only one parker works, and no low beams work. I have tried differant lights/globes and makes no differance. It looks like the previous owner has messed around with some of the wiring at the drivers kick panel.)
Wash and tidy

Hopefully that is all it should need for rego....

Update time....

CAR - Kevo (street)

Well, I fitted up some Superpro poly bushes to the panhard rod. The headlight problem was in the switch mechanism on the stalk. Just got one from one of the other KE70s in the yard (:P)

Anyway, I took the car for it's rego inspection today. I was totally amazed that not only did it pass, but there was NOT EVEN ONE ADVISORY listed. The car had a complete clean bill of health.....

Soon after I got the passed certificate, I was down to the registry to get rego.

As soon as I got home, I got to work on the car.

The car WAS a complete untouched stock specimen, but after 3 hours, it looked like this -

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/1/1/206231.jpg

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/1/1/206237.jpg

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/1/1/206233.jpg

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/1/1/206243.jpg

In the rear, I fitted some KYB Excell G shocks and AJPS 6kg rear springs.
At the front, I just fitted 'Bosch' spec springs, just to get the car looking half decent untill I do the whole conversion on the car. Suprisingly, it wasn't too horrible to drive. Just fine for what the 4K is capable of anyway :) :)

Tried to fit my set of WORK EQUIP 01's (2 x 15x8 -3, and 2 x 15x8 -13). The neg 3's fitted well on the front (RE001 tyres), but there was no chance the neg 13's would fit on the back with the current stock guards. So, I got another set of wheels out (14x7 +4) and they fitted really well. Filled the guards, good height, and they dont scrub at all.....

Looks good for the time being I reckon

Shit jojo that was some turn around! Looks good!
What's the chrome bumper off?
Im looking for chrome bumper brackets, wonder could I get a set copied off yours..
We'll have to go for a run someday!
I might have some parts for ya depending if I get a new ke project or not...

maxhag
27th August 2011, 01:06 AM
The bumpers are off a XT130 Corona. They just need to be shortened in width and the brackets modified. The shortening is pretty easy, you just take off the end caps, then cut some off both ends, then refit end caps......
The brackets need a bit of right angle steel welded/bolted on, to change the direction of how the brackets bolt to the car. I was gonna ask 'El Barto' if he would weld this for me.....

If you have anything good, let me know what your sellin..

What new 'KE project' are you talking about? Haha, all your cars are always projects.... lol

Bit of an update, it's been a few months. Been busy with various motorsport and workin on all the cars I have, 3 x KE70's and the AE86, ... :P

Plans have settled with the 2 KE70's. I have deceided to keep the red 70 (Kevo), as a standard 4K unit. (well for now anyway). I just have it as a second daily, and club cruiser.
The white one (Stu) is the one I am going to mod first.

Firstly, I have decieded to go with another turbo motor, mostly because I already have 80% of the parts for the engine.
AE92 GZE (smallport) bottom end, new oil pump, ARP head studs, ARP Flywheel bolts, Genuine Toyota timing belt and tensioner, Genuine Toyota head gasket, Genuine Toyota Full engine gasket kit, TRD oil filter, ported and massively CC'd rebuilt bigport head, and upgraded/bigger valves, 440cc injectors. RWD water setup, genuine RWD inlet mainfold, T25G turbo, Stainless low mount manifold (until it cracks) all will run off the Microtech LT10 ECU, 215mm flywheel with 4 puk clutch. Thats a basic rundown.... Drivetrain will be T50 box with drum brake T series rear end with TRD 2 way centre.

I gave the GZE bottom end a clean up and paint and fitted some new parts.

Well, the work on 'Stu' has begun. What better time to start, than midnight on a saturday night :P and listening to some quality Melbourne hip hop beats to keep things decent.......

I have started with the rear end.

Out with the Borgwarner anchor, and in with the T series drum rear end, fitted with a tight TRD 2 way LSD..

This is how it happened -

After pushing it in to the garage, this is the last shot of 'Stu' in it's standard form - ↓

And finally, I present, 2 way LSD goodness! - ↓

In goes AJPS 6kg rear springs, KYB Excell G shocks, connected brakes lines and handbrake cables.....

Took just under 3 hours..

Next on the list, for tomorrow night, will be changing over the front end. All the KE shit will be coming out, and the AE86 front end and the TRD coilovers will go in... (busy during the day working on 'Sloths' 20V KE70 conversion) Yes, I do love my Toyotas :P

To do a 4age swap?
To actually put the motor in, only takes a few hours, it's the wiring that I will be taking my time with, I can do a fair bit myself, but I certainly aint no auto elec wizz.......

As I am working conversions on 3-4 cars, I do a bit on each one when I got the time. With all the parts I have, I reckon I could do the whole car in a weekend (+ wiring time), but I am pretty busy usually, and have a fucked back which makes it really hard sometimes....

If its an S15 BB turbo, it would be a 2560rs, 2860rs is a Disco potato or equivalent of HKS GT-SS

def not a T25*.. It's noticeably bigger....

Was told it was same/simular to the S15 turbo. I've checked the part number. It's not a 2560rs.....

Small update:

This week, I cleaned up and painted the front end parts going into the White KE70. All Painted engine enamel black.....

Today, I put in the AE86 front end gear in Stu (white car).... Fitted up crossmember, Castor rods and brackets, 24mm Whiteline adjustable swaybar, fitted up coilovers......
I still need to get some new bushes/ball joint pressed into the XT130 LCAs, get modified steering arms (AJPS/KELWAY) and some 40mm RCAS, and the front is then done.....

My back is really fucked now, so progress has been pretty slow lately, But should be getting a move on from now on..........

Also, picked up some rear Bilstein short stroke shocks from a John84ie for the car......

Ok, well sad to say that I have aborted these projects. But, something else came up.....
I bought this http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/70407-I-shouldn-t-But-I-did-My-3rd-AE86
All the parts will go into the new better shell.

I have sold the Red KE70 already, but the white '4age ready' white shell is for sale if anyone is interested.
By '4age ready' I mean that the car is ready for motor to be dropped in etc...
Car has:
- AE71 pedal box already done with hydro clutch master
- AE86 engine crossmember
- AE71 gearbox crossmember
- Shell has almost no rust

Shell is currently not rolling, no front or rear diff/suspension. I do have the original ke70 front sus setup, just needs to be bolted up. I have a diff, but it has no brakes on it, but could prob use it to get it rolling only.....

Send me a PM if interested
