So, i thought id better chuck up a build thread for this, as it seems to be becoming more of a project than a daily.
Bascally, its an Auto, 1980, Datsun 200B Aspen GL, in two tone grey/silver.

So, i bought it about 3 months ago, as i needed a car to drive around in. it was down near my Girlfriend's sisters place, so i dropped a note on the windscreen. one thing led to another, and now I own it. So far, i blew up the first diff, about 3 weeks ago, out on a wet night. so i replaced it, and the same thing happened last night, i snapped another axle.

Plans for now are:
Manual conversion from 910 Bluebird
S13 coilovers
Welded Diff
Cam, Twin Su's and extractors.

just go SR

Hazzard
29th August 2011, 07:45 PM
I probly wouldve had an SR in it, but Datsuns with SR conversion are like arseholes really. I wanted something different with more power than an SR, Hence the 1G. Anyway, heres some pics from today, ive got a full set of southern ways mesh on it now.

i hope you realise 1g's make almost no power, like maybe 100kw with an exhaust

Im still on the fence about the 1G. I dont think ill do it though, seems like a waste of money just to have something different.

Ive thought about an SR20, but im looking at more power without spending a heap of money. So a RB20 or 25 is more on the cards now, with maybe a few mods.

SO its been a while since update. b asically my starter motor shat itself, then a tie rod end decided to part with my steering arm, so i fixed the tie rod end, then one of the lower strut bolts snapped. So. it is being taken off the road, and it will be getting an SR20, S13 front end, some body modifications, and possibly an IRS rear end. stay tuned for more details.

updatelington. picking a locker up tonight. aswell as some coilovers for the rear. front coilovers, brakes etc should be here next week. will thrash the L20 till it dies, and then the Sr20 will be getting done like a dinner.

Not sure if your aware, but an SR shits all over RB20's in the power and torque departments, they are up there with RB25's as well.. Have you thought about FJ20 or Z18? Or even a turbo L-series? Or even an efi l26 / l28 out of a z or 260c?

Hazzard
28th October 2011, 06:05 PM
yea ive decided decided on the SR20. an Fj20 did cross my mind, but i want something thats relatively cheap also.

some progress was made today. received the S13 coilovers. installed them, but i need to get some braided lines made up for the front, and will have to sort something out with the LCA's. as the steering arm, and brakes foul on it, it produces positive camber, and now i have fuck all lock. put a new front bar on fitted a pretty purple bucket, and reinstalled the front lip, after being taken out by speed bump. Decided on 14's for this. bidding on some 14x8 mk1's for the front, but still trying to find something for the rear.

haha yea, im goin for the whole beaten up/ pig sorta thing. rust has overcome this car.

Big news! going to have a gander at a RB20 on the weekend, if satisfied, will pick it up within the month. still trying on the s13 coilovers, worst thing to install. everything is fouling, so im gonna go for a custom setup, does anyone know much about this whole mounting the swaybar the the firewall between the wheel and engine bay? thinking about going down that road.

so, after looking at a couple of RB20's and neither of them being in 'great' condition.A mate told me about a RB30DE (possibly +T later on) that he's got laying around with gearbox etc.. so i will be picking that up ASAP, along with some other goodies! engine removal will begin when i find the time, and shit will start happening again!

Well, got some shit done. Will be sent away in a few weeks to have the engine crossmember, G box X member and all the wiring finished.

This week will hopefully bring most of the fuel system. Looking into fuel pumps etc, will be getting something for about ~260kw. Gonna try and aim for having it finished hopefully by All Japan Day. got some 14x8 mk1's coming for the fronts also!

picking up turbo gear on thurs. stock manifold, with wastegate, and RB25 turbo. gonna try for fuel pump and surge tank next week.

LCA's were dropped off at the workshop, getting extended 120mm, and also getting a whole bunch of geometry stuff done to them so when i go super low, it wont be so out of wack. s13 tein castor rods should be here within 2 weeks. have removed front swaybar, and will see how it handles without one, and it fouls on almost everything. gonna try for sending it off mid feb to have the crossmembers, and everything connected and basically running. the list before hand includes:

send off knuckles (possibly)
get fuel pump and surge
intercooler
radiator
dash surround
dash cluster
adjust handbrake
finish installing interior
get gauges

theres probly more but i cant think of anything else atm.the mk1's arrived only to find one. the ad had a picture of two, and said nothing about it only being one. so now will be getting the pair of 7j equip 03's that ive had laying around for ages widened to 8's and will be using them for the front.

Time for some updates. been doing a fair bit on this, untill i lost my job last week, so progress will slow right down untill i have an income again. anyway,
Picked up a taco dash, mint dash surround, my LCA's are finally done, i picked a turbo up, and will hopefully have a turbo mainfold, forward facing plenum, and turbo fuel rail + purple top injectors next week. have started re-assembling the interior, as well as cleaning up the engine bay, and removing all the stock inlet BS.

Got a bit too keen, so i lowered it onto bricks, fronts are G5's 7.5-1 and rears are MK1's 8-10:

Also, test fitted some CBY? flares, will be getting a set in about a month, as there is wayyyyyyyyyyy too much track to even think about metal gaurds. fits 14x9-20's under them though!

What ya mean dude? they look fair dodge, but im pretty confident theyre gonna last for a little bit.

Many updates on this also, havent been able to post them up for a while unfortunately. So here a little bit of what ive done, pics will be posted up when i get around to it.

First up, took an angle grinder to the firewall/trans tunnel, cut away enough to move the block so it bolts up to the stock crossmember. Now, i have to make a custom sump to clear it. Started on the rear gaurds, to try and fit the 14x9's. Looking at getting a complete KE70 arch, and welding it on, aswell as keeping the stock looking lip along the edge. front gaurds have been cut up, and will be welding KE70 arches on them also. Trying to get all the engine and drivline sorted by the end of the month, and then with all luck, ill be sending it to be finished in the start of may.
