Model
1990 NA JDM MX-5 1.6

Item description / condition

It's a red NA in good condition. It was resprayed in Classic Red by previous owner. Mechanically A1. There are a few dings on the body, such as the front bar slightly 'splintered' (see pics), as well as a 50c coin sized dent dent in the back right hand panel - when I first bought the car the previous owner had not strapped the battery down and it played knock-and-run with the rear panel. The paint is slightly flaked around the area. The roof (as with many Miatas of the age) needs a replacement. Interior condition is also immaculate.

Car has just completed a large service consisting of complete fluid flushing and re-hosing.

Registration

Unfortunately the cars rego runs out 11 June...
Not Anymore. Getting Re-Rego'd so therefor full Years rego from July sometime

Modifications

- Front lip extension (matte black)
- SSW wheels (unsure of specifications)
- Factory spoiler
- CAI (unsure of brand)
- CAT-back 2.25 exhaust

Made 82 rwkw and 229 torque @ MX5-Mania (will provide dyno sheets)

Location

I'm located in Lane Cove, Sydney, NSW

Price

I'm looking for around $7000 ONO. The car will also come with four new tires as they are in need of replacements.

Sorry, I was running out the door to work and figured people could follow the links to the pics

82rwkw and 229nm of torque ?? fo real ??

Yeah got the sheet here in front of me!
...Unless the Torque is measured in a different converion?

It was down at MX-5 Mania

holy crap 82rwkw is more that most 4ages... good work !

im guessing a few internal mods have been made to achive that power ??

nice red color too !

That's an extremely generous torque figure. The latest model MX-5 makes under 200 Nm, and a reading in ft. lb would be lower.

Then i haven't the foggiest :)
The sheet states 229, but maybe it's in the ft. measurement?

As for the mods, internally I'm unsure of whats been done! It's very responsive :DD

Interested, bar no rego and extreme price...
If it came with 12 months and a hard top and sold at the beginning of spring, something close to that amount might be achievable...

torgue is hard to get a useful figure as its a multiplication effort involving gearbox and final drive and tyre size and pressure blah blah.

is more a measure of tractive effort than the actual nm produced by the engine at the flywheel.

elsewise, rate the mx5, good luck with the sale, price is NOT too bad, but suggest rego would be a clincher.

That will be torque at the wheels, It completely shits me when people see a chassis dyno printout then dis the car cos the torque is much higher than what manufacturer says,

remember that if it's done in any gear other than a direct gear there is torque multiplication of that gearbox gear ratio, THEN there is torque multiplication by the differential, THEN there is a gear ratio between the size of the tyre and the size of the roller.

If you want a truer indication of the actual torque your car is putting out at the wheels IGNORING all the gear multiplications you have to use derived torque, this needs an rpm input, reworks the basic horsepower equation to give torque at the wheels ignoring gearing!

Sorry for the hijack, but his 229NM is probably correct AT THE WHEELS INCLUDING TORQUE MULTIPLICATION. The gearbox and differential are torque multipliers, imagine trying to start off from a standstill in 5th gear! much easier in 1st ;)

For example if I have 100NM coming out the back of the engine then into a 3:1 gear I now have 300NM coming out the back of gear box, into say 3.0:1 diff ratio, I now have 900NM.....you can multiply torque BUT YOU CANNOT multiple power this way, with in reasons(frictional losses of gears in box) doing a run in a different gear should give the same power.............I have to prove this time and time again on the dyno, it's bloody annoying!! currently I'm up to about 2600 runs ;)

again sorry for the hijack, just putting up someinfo to validate his torque claim.

No worries at all! As stated earlier, My knowledge about torque figures is extremely limited, and I'm just going off what the sheet said

I'll keep your slight interest in case I get desperate. Why not send me a PM? I'm neg. on the price, so drop me a message and we'll see.
Rego, agreed is a big prob, but if no fish take a bite I might renew it.
As for the hard top, they're rarer than hen's teeth.
