kewll dude, watched that on ebay ages ago,
use to have triple spokes which looked the goods,

think it might have been for sale for like 6 grand at one point as well...

what ecu are you running?

dbr11k
15th October 2011, 06:57 PM
thanks man yea it had triples on it at one stage but come with the csx rims on it an i got it for ALOT less than 6 grand haha..

it's just standard silvertop at the moment but eventually will be blacktop/aftermarket ecu and open throttles.. more concerned about my suspension setup than puttin more power into her :)

finally got some time to upload some pics for you lot, sold the silver top 20v complete rwd package for very cheap so that i can make room for the new motor ;)

seam welding the entire bay once i get it out of there, did a front on rear flare job, flat floor made up and fuel cell half mounted, got advised to mount it heaps lower to keep the cog down as much as possible, got a t series diff just waiting on 30mm billet axles to show up and the kazz 2way centre to suit, fixed up a fair few rust repairs, welded the fuel filler shut, still have to fix that massive dent in the drivers side sill panel, got quad light front end which to be honest i actually dont like it that much... should have kept the slanty. have to make up a custom radiator support to hold the radiator and intercooler... oops did i say that out aloud :DD

other than that all i have to do is get a one piece tail shaft made to suit the t series and w58 gbox, adjustable rear spring perches, and paint the interior, boot floor and engine bay and then send it off to a mate to get the outside painted, color is also a bit of a surprise :)

oh also waiting on willwood calipers, 288mm slotted rotors and steel braid lines for the front.

Make sure you put that tie rod on the right side of the steering arm wont you. ;)
What engine might you be using .... Hmm

Sprinter Freak
24th May 2012, 05:58 PM
have you got white line sway bars front and rear? if so, do they make heaps of a difference?

sundee
24th May 2012, 06:15 PM
Of course it will , just depends on sizes.

dbr11k
24th May 2012, 06:17 PM
Do you mean the lock spacer Joel? And yea got it from this bloke on here, should make a bit more power than the 4 age I got at the moment... Just might have to learn how to drive first hahaAnd I only have the adjustable one on the back set up as stiff as it goes, front is standard issue but might get some hard bushes for the drop links

sundee
24th May 2012, 06:48 PM
Nah, I mean in the picture of the RCA/ steering arm mounted up, the outer tie rod goes on the bottom of the knuckle

dbr11k
24th May 2012, 07:12 PM
Ahh i get ya now, is the tie rod supposed to be as close as possible to the angle of the lower control arm? They are only sitting on at the moment anyways because I need make a spanner to get the strut tops off to swap everything over.. Just gotta get this stinkin silver top out lol

dbr11k
24th May 2012, 08:42 PM
What I mean is, the two spacers that come with the tie rods and knuckles, do I just use how ever many I need to match it to the angle of the lca ?

sundee
24th May 2012, 09:36 PM
Yep that's right.
So the bearing of the outer tie rod goes under the knuckle , the spacers fit inside the recess.. Largest OD of the spacer fits in the recess and the smaller OD sits on the bearing, you will see how they match up when you fit them together.

Best way to get the strut top off is a rattle gun.
Buy a super cheap one, and hold the shock shaft with a set of multi grips and put a rag between them so you don't damage the shaft. Or a thin piece of rubber.

dbr11k
25th May 2012, 02:23 AM
Supercheap!?!? But that will be 20 bucks further away from a new motor haha, thanks for the help I'll give it a go on Friday

30mm billet axles, skool me more on these items.

Weir performance make billet 30mm axels for a T diff, it was just available with a full spool.
It's now available with a TRD or KAAZ LSD
They mod the LSD to suit the new larger 30mm axels.
Win win win IMO!

Delazy
25th May 2012, 05:18 PM
Only suits jdm t series and last I checked the 30mm was only available for the spool, not the modified LSD. I am buying one at first opportunity :)

I figured as much, i did send them an email asking if they can do the same with early Zenki diff but i didnt get a reply.

So how did you acquire the kit, just email or what.

dbr11k
25th May 2012, 08:56 PM
Yea what Joel said, they are through weir performance, I actually meant to say 28mm axles, the full spool kit comes with 30mm axles but the kazz 2way package comes with 28mm, they are supposedly good for over 300hp and need no housing mods to fit..Anyways, minus 3 degrees with sleet falling in an open faced hay shed, Using a hydraulic hoist on the back of an old cruiser me and a mate got the motor out today, he has a broken leg and I've got an infection inside my hand on a tendon lol good form, was going to do the coil over tops till the compressor shit it's self Would upload some pics but I'm on my phone

Got some time off work and seam welded my entire engine bay, welding where the rails meet the firewall today, and coilover side of the strut towers as well, not sure if I'm going to go to the extent of welding from fro t to back or not, mostley cbf doing it without a hoist... I would get some pics up but my phones being a bitch

Brakes finally showed up, I waited four weeks and then decided I will send them a message, they turned around and said "oh sorry we forget to send them out" so anyways another week and they showed up, gonna laugh if I end up gettin two sets lol

They were a piece of piss to fit, only trouble I ran into was the original caliper bolts were touching the rotors by a pubic hair, nothing the flap disc couldn't fix.. didn't end up painting the engine bay as I've got no money and I need to hire a jet heater..

Put my engine bay back together today, and started making up a radiator support for it, I was planning on making a completely custom one but I thought I will just base it off the original one, I welded on some plates each end of it after grinding the bits of I don't need.... And that about as far as I got lol... Going to drill the holes for it tomorrow and weld nuts onto it so that I can remove it when ever need be, and smooth it off etc.. I will have to box it so that its a bit stronger, after all its going to be holding a fair bit of weight

ordered some cusco engine mounts and I have to wait for them to show up so I can drop the motor in and then start mounting the radiator, oil cooler and intercooler.

Then after that I've got to get some power sorted and fuel line's, then start the big girl

Also put the wiring loom, coils and ecu under the dash

Wrx dash roughly cut up ready to be fiberglassed, it's a damn tight squeeze and I would have cut about 250mm of length out of it and about 150mm of depth.. not really sure if I like it that much, but we'll see how it looks when I'm finished..

Other than that I haven't really been doing too much to the car, fitted my quad lights back up after making brackets for them, got the motor started up which gave me a bit of motivation, wired up some relays an the start button etc, bit if body work nothing to exciting.. haven't had much work lately so I can't pay for a tail shaft or the Teflon fuel line's... which are fuking expensive by the way!

thanks heaps guys! hopefully this thing will be at wtac

started stripping the car ready for panel and paint, stripped all the factory loom out, got rid of the ignition barrel and stalk, shortened the steering collum, made up a cap and a smaller bearing bearing in the top of it..

so many things to do to the car so i need to get at least one thing finished, paint it is!

Haha all good, at the moment I'd nearly settle for push on fittings I'm that keen on driving the thing..

Had a few more things show up in the mail this arvo, push ignition button, some toggle switches a banjo fitting for the fuel pump, bulkhead fittings, battery isolator with removable wind up toy key, now I have no excuses to finish off my dash, also got some more rhs to mount the fuel cell..

Just need to get off my arse and brace the -5 degree weather.

right into the body work getting ready for primer, seam welding the diff mounts and rails inside the interior etc, I need to get my shocks re built, welded a bit of the inside of my rear flares, then run out of gas, so I stripped the rest of the car and nearly got it all rubbed back ready for primer, I stuffed up my perfectly bog free rear flares when I welded the inside of them (should have had a wet rag handy) so I'm going to have to out a layer over them, as well as a few other small spots, not too worried about the panels being perfect, as long as the paint turns out nice and glossy.. it's not exactly gunna be a show & shine car.

haven't updated in a while, but I haven't really done too much. for 99.9% of the welding done, frame made up for the drop tank, just have to get some gas for the TIG welder and do the surge and cell fittings, got the t-series diff in and got it rolling again, finished all the sanding on the body and give it a coat of primer, Its pretty rough but dilligaf? just have to finish the front guards and bonnet and lay a top coat on it..

yep carbon, I've had so many people tell me not to do it.. but I'm going to be havin four bonnet pins and I want to be able to lift the bonnet off with ease.. probably end up painting it white anyways..

Done a few small things on the weekend, made up a loom for the head lights, did alternator wiring, finished relay for starter solenoid, started making a clamp for the battery.. Still need to get mig gas lol.. Had a few cans of JD which is always essential.. not much but its one step closer..

also still waiting on my surge tank to come back from the boil makers.. gunna have a crack at doing as much wiring as my little brain can handle so I bought cheap soldering iron, terminals, heat shrink, cheap multi metre, tape and all that shit. Just gunna get stuck on wiring the flasher can for the blinkers.

Couldn't get my fat arse hands in to plug the solenoid wire in and tighten the cable for the starter,

Yea i know that was the old welding cable i used when i first fired the motor up, I've got a 140 amp 6 guage cable running through the heater holes now, where the HT leads go through..

sundee
15th September 2012, 06:04 PM
the trick to getting to the starter on that engine is to remove its heat shield ;)

dbr11k
15th September 2012, 06:32 PM
I found that out after I got it all out haha, ah well, I ran a cable tie around the wire and around the starter so it shouldn't slip off again..

Drove down to pick up the diff from Joel and saved about $400 on postage costs, plus spent the rest of the day at the beach.. score.

had the diff mounted up that same night, exhaust is now done, tail shaft done, clutch slave&master done.

SFA left to go now, few brake lines to do and some wiring, dash board, fuel tank plumbing finished and then go over the whole car and make sure everything is all tight and done properly. tow it for wheel alignment and bring the bogan out in my self for a test skid.

Ordered the remaining speedflow fuel fittings as well as some more bulkhead fittings to run the fuel hose through the firewall properly, ordered a carter silver series pre pump for the surge with 3/8 npt to -8 adaptors, p clamps to tie down the hoses running through the cabin. So that's the fuel system sorted.

Bought 3 litres of penrite g/box oil, should be enough for a w58?

Also got chrome DX bars ordered, front one isn't going to fit but one day I will get hypertune to move the intercooler in and up a bit so i can run front apron and bars to make it more popo friendly ... THIS THING WILL BE STREET REGISTERED :)

next pay day I'll be ordering cusco engine mounts and a few other bits. Keen as a jar of mustard.

dbr11k

Back firing and occasionally has 'flat spot' when you put your foot on it, I warmed it up before driving it too.. Was it doing it when you had it on 10psi also?

sundee
2nd October 2012, 07:58 PM
It's backfiring because its dumping fuel.. The AFR's are tuned for 18psi... So only running 10psi you short a whole lot of air.. So the excess fuel that is not burnt is igniting later on..
Had no flat spots when I had it.

Make the end of the roof into a kind of roof spoiler thing, get cage and cover rear door handles and lines and it will be awesome!

I turn it over every chance I get, lubed the turbo today and started it for the first time with the new one on.. have to finish modifying the pedal box to relocate the master cylinder for the clutch and I'll be able to drive it again.. then just waiting on money to afford fittings as usual
