Hi Team.

I bought my 3rd xT13x and it arrived today from VIC.

RT132 Fastback - 160,000km - FULL service history.
One owner vehicle until 140k
18R-C motor with full compliment of emissions. Runs well but needs a tune
W50 - mint condition
T series - fucked

Full red / maroon interior - pimping out of control
14" Dragways
Fucked front shocks
Very little rust (bumper tops and a small spot above the front w/screen)
Original owners manual, service log book, SALES BROCHURE IN GOOD CONDITION, original tool kit with 'toyota motor' tools incl. spanners and screwdrivers, fucking EVERYTHING the car came with when it was sold.

Plans:

Get it through regency. Get rego. Daily it.

Mods planned? Maybe a minor lowering, but definitely throwing my old Twincam wheel on there so I can sit comfortably in it.

That is all.

Diff Center
Front muffler
Radiator :(
Steering wheel
Cam cover gasket
Valve clearance adjustment
Points adjusted
Timing adjusted
Sump Gasket maybe
Clutch slave cylinder boot
Oil Changed

-Maybe stockies for regency-

I've got some work to do. PAYDAY Y U NO COME SOONER?

Yeah 22RE guts in the 18R dizzy will work. Might do it later on. I enjoy doing all the fiddly shit adjusting points and timing though. Makes me feel like I know what i'm doing.

Javal
5th November 2011, 06:15 PM
Fuck it. Raise engine mounts up by about 50cm, stack 18R and W50 on top of one another, Get some bike chains to link them up, big reverse scoop so the bonnet will close, how hard could it be? I mean, i'd have performed the most retarded mod ever (apart from dinner plate air filter), likely be near-suicide by the end, AND my weight distrobution would be up the shit.

But i'd have a massive reverse scoop, so everyone will assume that i have a 702ci big block and not even try to race me.

Updates:

So, as it turns out, the diff that was 'fucked' from running low on oil wasn't fucked at all. I only found this out after buying another one, ripping the axles out and finding the axle bearings to be absolutely cheesed. I fitted it anyway. So now I have a good condition, low km T-series 3.9:1 open center which anyone can buy off me for not much.

Also, I changed the radiator with my spare one from the silver RT132 'donor' car. No leaks ftw.

The car as now at AJPS (which seems to be where my coronas go to die)... However a set of new axle bearings, a new muffler, chuck my set of stockies on and a wheel alignment, then she's ready for regency! Awesome!

Also i've been 'restoring' my old AE82 twincam wheel ready for when it's passed inspection. It looks nice now, but it'll be interesting to see how it holds up after a few weeks of use.

Javal

Righto! Put some effort in today. Due to Spare Parts Dept. being lazy, I had to pull the axles out to get partnumbers off the bearings. THE FUN BEGINS!

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/254603.jpg

Here we are, arse up in the air ready to rip the axles out, but first -

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/254604.jpg

BETTER DRAIN THE DIFF OIL FOR THE THIRD FUCKING TIME SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
Note my nice and clean and painted diff center which I didn't need to fit.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/254605.jpg

All removed and stowed away. The axles were an absolute slut to remove when I did the diff center on wednesday, however they came out today with significantly less use of 'the biggest hammer I can lay my hands on'.

Wheel bearings are Koyo partnumber: DG357226WRS for those playing at home.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/254606.jpg

And a quick checkover of the g/f's SUPERSWIFT.

SWEET TREATS.

Hi fags.

Finished doing the axles ages ago. Got my standard alloys off my sedan and put them on with correct sized tyres for regency. Drove it home. Washed it.

Pics don't do it justice.

Still to do before regency -

Front muffler
Full service
Tune (set points, idle mixture, ign timing)
Wheels balanced
Wheel alignment
Center caps on after wheel balance(had to get the screws drilled out and the holes re-threaded, $100 later, fuck)

Regency a week or two after easter.

Short term -
Rego
Fit twinky wheel
Racing stripes
Buy raybans
Daily like a boss.

Long term -
Very moderate lowering (springs / shocks / bushes / panhard)
Meshies
MA61 seats. Properly mounted. Might even retrim them myself to match the velour.

SERVICE TIME!

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319790.jpg

Before you lose your minds - I am using 15w-60 because a 15w-40 or 20w-50 is recommended for the vehicle, Penrite, which is my preferred oil for all my cars, does a 15w-50.

New penrite oil has this 'extra 10' added to the viscosity rating as it's more stable across a broader range of temperatures, hence 15w-60.

Valve clearance adjustment party. Clean as a bloody whistle under there. Cold adjustment because the battery is flat.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319791.jpg

I've seen 2 year old cars with more varnish / sludge buildup than this. Clearly they've kept away from Castrolololololololol.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319792.jpg

New guts for the distributor. Points, Condenser, Rotor button and Cap. New spark plugs too.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319793.jpg

I really need some shorter leads for cylinders 1 and 4.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319794.jpg

And now I leave it to charge and have an afternoon nap.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319795.jpg

Started super quick after I charged the battery. Timing was bang-on.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319796.jpg

Dwell was a little short at 46deg
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319797.jpg

Closest I could get it was 56deg. Spec is 54deg in the green bible, but 52deg on the cam cover. Variance up to 2000rpm is zero.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319798.jpg

Now that it's warmed up I can do the oil and filter. Genuine oil filter, just for wank factor.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319799.jpg

Fin!
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/4/3/319800.jpg

I got the windscreen washers working again today also.

Now, does anyone have ANY idea why I have two ballast resistors wired up in series on my coil?! Just to make it (the coil) run cooler?

I might just get a nice Bosch GT40R and a new ballast resistor in a few weeks.

It's a tiiiiiiiiny bit ticky at the moment, the cold valve clearances probably weren't the most accurate, so I'll do a hot adjustment after the exhaust gets done tomorrow.

Myself and pop worked out that some of the timing marks on the crank pulley weren't actually timing marks and the timing was quite a bit advanced, but after we got the dwell spot on (52deg) and set the timing in spec the idle dropped to 650rpm (still a clean idle), carby idle mixtures were really lean so once that was sorted, smoooooooooth 900rpm idle.

SO Javal, since i know your an T130 Guru, and i am guessing you will be cremated.. or buried in one.

ive got a few questions for you.

Ever hear of anyone pissing off the steering box, bolting in an 86 X member and using an 86 rack & pinion?

Only reason i ask is, i've got my eye on a nice baby blue ( thats factory blue ) xt130 sedan around my way.
want it for a daily, do an engine swap etc
BUT the xt130 x member looks nasty for getting any type of front sump engine in a decent position.

I have never heard of anyone doing it but that doesn't mean it's not possible.

XT130 chassis rails are narrower than xE7x / AE86, so the crossmember won't really go straight in, it would need to be cut and shut, but it's quite possible. I imagine doing it the same way as one would convert TE72 to Rack and pinion conversion would be the best bet - KE70 column, may need a lengthened lower steering shaft, xE7x R+P crossmember modded to fit rails.

This also opens the door to engine conversions to suit your chosen crossmember - while a KE70 or AE71 crossmember is a good starting point, you also then commit yourself to either fitting a K (lol) or an A engine, both of which are going to be too small for a xT13x, or modifying the crossmember more (which if it's being shortened anyway is no issue) to allow the fitment of something with more capacity like a 3S...

sundee
19th April 2012, 10:57 AM
Might as well just make a crossmember from scratch then .
Was thinking NA 3S Beams, after all there is just under 100kg difference between and Xe7X an a XT13X, I was thinking about a wagon, as i've found one of them as well. I would just have to figure out the rear end then, they are Leaf sprung right?

any updates on your beast?

Wagons are leaf sprung rear end, borg warner diff and borg warner 'depress shifter then left and up' reverse.

I'd modify a crossmember if it were me doing it, but if you have the fabrication skills...

REGO!

Gonna order my R-series plates when I get home from tour, but i'm really glad I got it ready to drive before I go away.

So tonight I am going for a drive through the hills for the first time in a long time, albeit in a stocker.

Pretty excited to do some more work on this. Bushes / balljoints next I think.

im guessing cremated

18R - fireball

Surely an upgrade to 18RG will result in my death (by fire).

Javal

Right. I've got some serious work to do.

First on the list is procuring some MA61 seats and a VGC AE86 Twincam wheel.
I can't sit in the car comfortably for long periods as the RT132 seats have very high bases due to their 'tilt' function, so i have to slouch significantly. This is no good.

Second, balljoints and bushes, tie rod ends (all 4) also, the linearity of the front end leaves a lot to be desired.

Then rims and tyres, springs and shocks - MZ1x Soarer 15"s, RE002 front and misc rear tyres, AJPS 5kg/mm front spring with KYBs, maybe something flashier and 4kg/mm rear with KYBs.
