Hey all

looking for any advice on places to buy cheapish grippy 195 or 185 60 14 tyres i'm looking at doing the odd sprint day but mainly hills runs so a good quality UHP tyre or medium/ hard compound semi slick would suit the job.
looking at
1. Price.
2. Brand
3. Experience you have had with them (good and bad)
4. Availability
5. Life (approx kms)

Any help is welcome
Cheers Rob

I had Dunlop LeMans, 185/60r14 on the car. Silica compound, got very sticky and heated up well at the drags. Didn't last very long on the front though. I think they were around $100 each.

I bought myself a cheap set of R888 GG Toyo's (185/60 R14) second hand and I used them on the track last weekend. I will never take my 71 out on the track again without semi's. I will buy a new pair for the front once the current ones get closer to the end of their life. I will get them new through Tyrepower for around 250 each when the time comes. I paid 150 for the second hand set on a once off right place right time situation. Used semi's > any street designed tyre I've ever driven on.

That's why you start off with second handy's. Keep your eyes peeled on egay, shit pops up. Even second hand semi's rule over street tyres.

adrenalines are good can get them just about anywhere, can remember the exact price though, but their always highly recommended anywhere and i found them extremely surprising through the hills.

Replaced by 002's? Sounds like your local dealer isn't too helpful if they didn't say that...

they don't make re002 in 14"
closest thing they make now is an ER300 which i haven't heard of much

ill go too

Yokohama C Drive 195/60 14

1. Price 150 each WHOLESALE, unsure of retail
2. Brand: Yokohama
3. Experience you have had with them: Good, moved from re001 in 185 to these and did notice quite a difference in grip (steer wheels for drifting) ran them at 30psi and i liked.
4. Availability - seems ok
5. Life: no idea
6. would i buy again - yes if i were buying a street tyre on a larger car (was used on mx73) for steering on 14s

KU31? Haven't used them personally (next on the to try list) but a lot of people i know from Brisbane/Ipswich swear by them and they are cheap. $100ea 185/55/14 roughly.

got 4 of these to test initial drive seems good plenty of grip and sit nicely on car will be interesting to see how they hold up over time / after more punishment

I'm thinking about Yokohama Advan A048s... Has anybody tried these? They come in 185/55, 185/60 and 195/60. Found a price of $179 for the 195/60. Link here: http://www.yokohama.com.au/motorsports/0909%20Yokohama%20ADVAN%20A048%20A050%20race%20tyr es.pdf
