This is a summary of my build of my 1975 Galant Hardtop build.

Started it's life with me as a one owner, 1600, Auto with 75,000k's and service history. Sadly the original owner was pretty old, had been put in a wheelchair so couldn't drive and the Galant was sitting on the front lawn for about 4 years before I convinced his Grandson to sell it to me ;) This was about 7 years ago now. It sat in the shed for about 3 years where I started removing some parts

Pics of the process;

Then I moved it to a workshop I was renting;

More assembly of final parts. Bought a spare roller for parts, then sold it on. The spare should be on the road by Easter. Good to see rare cars live on :))

Brilliant car horrible exhaust as above and above

I like the exhaust, lol. I wanted twin outlets and there is no room left or right because of the leaf springs so I thought it would look better central than off centre but not to the side if ya know what I mean.
Anyway, thanks guys :) It has been a long build and it is all but done, if they are ever done :P

Cheers shift_rook, appreciated :thumbup:

Thanks dove grey 64, thats was the landlord of the shed I was renting. He was a tool, thats why the build moved to my shed midway through.
I will be taking it on Jaf's cruise on Boxing Day if anyone from SA is there say hi.

Cheers

Nice car mate,you don't see coupes around

Galant_GT0
28th December 2011, 12:35 AM
Cheers Haydn, nah, there arent many around. In fact I think there were only between 500 and 1000 imported. Un like the sedans and wagons that were assembled here the hardtops were fully imported.
I have had a few stumbling blocks over the last two weeks but have it all sorted now and up and running is massively awesome after such a long build.
I still need to sort the speedo in the morning and thats about it. Went for a decent drive this afternoon and was very impressed, the old 2.6 with 13:1 or so compression pulls pretty hard with only 920kg to haul, plus my fat ass, lol

A fellow http://sigma-galant.com member has made me some very professional looms to use my new headlights, H4 55/60w hi-lows and 150w high's.
He has incorporated a low relay, a hi-low relay and a high relay.
This is all run from an auxiliary fuse box taking power directly from the battery; I have also run the thermo fan through there too.
The very cool loom just plugs directly into the factory hi-low plug so all can be returned to stock if ever needed.
I still need to do the final taping but I wanted you to see how good the looms are, with proper plugs, soldering and heat shrink, I would have twisted and taped :P
Went for a drive last night and F*CK ME, I knew the sealed beams were shit but seriously, on hi beam it is pure day light a good 30m ahead and still bright for what seems miles ahead. I have seen dedicated spotlights that aren't this good.
Now pics :)
