Hey guys/girls.

Picked up a KE70 sedan off a mate for an awesome price, needs a fair bit of work, but hey, for the price and whats included, who can complain!

Basically is a roller, had a 16v 4AGE in it with box atm, needed tail shaft and to be wired up...

Its going to be a Track only car. Not to see rego again!

Plans WHEN I GOT IT:

Plans:

Initially:
-Strip interior, take out all the rubbish, looms, sound deadening.
-Install AE71 Pedal Box + CMC
-Get the 4AGE running in the car
-S13 LCA's and Coilovers etc.
-AU Springs in the rear.
-Install Fixed back bucket seat

Long Run:
Full CAMS cage,
CA18DET/SR20DET
R31 Diff
S13 subframe(Required for SR/CA Conversion)

Well, as we know, plans change quick...

UPDATE:

-4AGE setup is sold. Motor box etc etc..
-CA18det Purchased.
-S13 Cross member/LCA's/Coil overs Acquired
-Fixed Buckets acquired (pair)

So basically i changed my mind on getting the 4AGE running. Mainly cause i had a CA come up at a price too good to refuse!

So sold the motor for a profit on what i paid for the whole setup! But that didn't come without its drama's..

Pick up the CA soon. Just need to organise a time. Will be a stock setup. Dont need anything crazy. 150rwkw is all I'm aiming for!

Took the 4AGE motor out today, inc 4A member, and my mate brought over my S13 one, Bolts pretty much STRAIGHT in. #Winning.!:D Just need to elongate the holes. No biggy.

Get the other fiddly bits tomorrow.

Still need to get:
-S13 Steering Rack (anyone got one)
-Solid engine mounts
-Tail shaft
-Custom exhaust (straight pipe dumped out the side after drivers door)

Long run:
-Cage
-R31 Diff.

Also purchased guard mirror's for extra JDM spec. And roof basket for USDM swag? haha.

Considering buying some Sunrayiser 4WD rims and getting them redrilled to suit. 15x10 FTW. Drift spec much?

Anyways.. Pics!

Love beige ke's
Nice pigglet, re r31 diff with 15x10
Is that shortened? Or you going cby bolt ons?
Stock track, 15 x 10 neg 12 and front on rear conversion still falls 10mm short

Just to give you an idea man.
Good old CA's good to see something other then an SR

Wont be 15x10. Was Just a joke. haha.

15x8 I reckon would be a pretty safe width for the rear. Maybe x7 on front.

As for offset, haven't gotten that far yet. Just playing with the ideas.

Not worrying about rims till the car is running:)

The ca will most proly blow the stock diff as u drive out the driveway for the first test drive. Would make that part of the short list to. Will also save u having to get 2 tail shafts made. And 15x10's ftw. Get a hilux diff they are a little shorter then standard Ke diffs so u can run the big rims no dramas.

Any recommendations on going the hilux 5 stud? Or it that the hilux diff you guys use? Fsereies? which is the tar ago diff I've also heard of being used.

Hilux is a G series, has an 8" crown, F series has a 7.5" crown.

if you did a 5 lug conversion up front it would make things easy... just get boned on wheel selection a little

5 Stud up front is not that big of an issue if im going silvia stuff..

benefit over the two diffs?

U can re drill the stud pattern if ur concerned.

sundee

F diff is lighter, 2 track options available ( cant remember measurements ) one is same as standard 86, from MKII corona, other from YR22 Tarago and is approx +25mm each side from stock 86 track. will handle a beating all day long
G series, dont know much about, except its 5 stud and an 8" center and heavier.

luke641
12th February 2012, 04:28 PM
Ahh ok. Sweet man. thanks:)

As i said, not fussed on the stud patten atm.

Hopefully some progress will happen this week. Get the cross member all sorted:)

Update time:

Pulled the S13 cross member out today to drill it out so it all bolts up to the KE holes, just had to elongate the holes.

While it was out gave it a lick in some paint, looks BLAAAACK and shiny:D

Thoughts on Solid mounts?
And:
Worth going power steering?

sundee
14th February 2012, 06:53 PM
PS no.
Soid mounts... id rather have them super stiff, just not solid.. the cusco mounts are not solid but are very stiff.. my engine hardly moves

luke641
14th February 2012, 06:54 PM
What do you think about the old hockey puck style mount? Seems perfect imo.

Had the car moved off my mates front lawn today to my work shop.

I can't say a big enough thank you to 'Australia Wide Towing' for being able to help me out! They where more then happy to organise me a tow at such short notice.

I Strongly recommend them! Phone: (02) 9624 8444 if you need a tow in the Wollongong/Sydney/Central Coast area!

Cheers for that mate. Ive been meaning to send you a PM!

Alittle progress today.

Front end panels are painted matt black! AS they where already the wrong colour.

Then removed all the factory looms except the rear light loom and demister.

Next inside the car is to deal with the sound deadening. Best way to do it? Dry ice?

Then paint the engine bay. Anyone suggest a colour?

Hey Luke, Brett (Carls mate!) here.
RE diff, we did/are again/can do R31 conversions. We did a minispooled R31 with VS calipers and a secondary set of dedicated handbrake calipers. The track change is manageable, especially if its just a drift car only. Strong diff 28spline with instant drum to disc conversion FTW!

luke641
29th February 2012, 11:09 PM
Indeedy. That looks like the way ill be doing mine. Wouldn't happen to have a spare diff dude;p

Shall have to grab the motor soon too!

Small update...

Got bored at work today, so i bolted in my Bucket seat for the driver and finished off installing my pedal box/accl pedal..

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/0/0/2/300869.jpg

Ill put my steering wheel on once the rest of the build is done. Save it getting dirty before needed!

-----

Also, my company VIP Motorsport (http://www.facebook.com/vipmotorsport) is up and running. So i got my mate to get the logo fixed up and sort out some stickers!

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/0/0/2/300870.jpg

Corolla already got its sticker!

If you want some PM me. They are $10 ea inc postage (Its not a cheap thing to invest in, even when a mate makes them).

luke641

Have finally had to deal with possibly one of the biggest issues ill have with the conversion....

S13 steering rack, and connecting it to the KE70 column.

People say 'cut'n'shut' but if i can avoid this, i would like to!

Does any one know of a uni joint that will fit the KE70 end, aswell as the KE70 column?

Ive googled and not answer, apparently a R34 one worked? But the OP of that post wasn't 100% it was out of a R34...

So HELP is needed. Please:)

Considering getting this rolling with the S13 gear up front and selling it... Motivation isn't really there atm. And i want to get into racing speedway again...

If you are interested, make an offer... If i dont get the money i want, it won't sell it. Simple.

16th March 2012, 06:21 PM
With the uni joint, i had the same problem, ended up going with the standard front end, pretty sure a 34 one does fit, but you could get the s13 uni joint and the standard ke70 one and use half of each, insure who would do it though

into speedway again? youve never done speedway

into speedway again? youve never done speedway

AS in I'm keen to race it again, i lost interest in it for a while.

And I've been offered a drive for next season and I'm going to take it.
