Low, so many thoughts on how I should do this, thinking otomoto weld on sleeve up front and unsure on springs for rear, got some koni shocks here for all round, any advice would be good.

yeah weld on sleeve would be the go, easy adjustable ect ect, you can get adjustable spring seats for the rear, or just cut spring to height....

edit: check out http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/14944-Tom-s-RA65-Coupe for some pics and stuff of the adjustable rear spring seats

Think ill just get some ajps springs for the rear and adjust the front to suit. Just got to work out what length and rate for the rears, i read in your thread that yours still squated with stiff springs. Im thinking either F 8kg/mm and R 6kg/mm or F10kg/mm and R 8kg/mm or 8kg/mm F & R

yeah they are cut falcons thoe, a higher rate would be a whole lot better i would hope haha, im waiting on a reply from ajps for some 6kg/mm myself for the rear so hopefully they go better

How low are you wanting to go and how much money are you wanting to spend?? Drifting? Or just grip/daily?

Seventy
21st March 2012, 01:11 PM
Not quiet sure how low, but it doesnt have to be stupid low and im more after the stiffness. Did a quick guesstamation of the drop i want and id say about R 80-100mm and F 40-50mm.
After all 3 daily/ grip/ drift
Edit: Cost, cheap as possible without dodgeyness like cutting springs

Put some ke70 kingsprings in the rear that i had laying around, its about as soft as the stock springs. The koni's i had didnt end up fitting the rear either because they were to short so just got some monroe gt gas one in at the moment. But now the stock springs are out i can work out what i want.

ra65's are cool!

Interior reminds me of a late 70's/todays Elizabeth lounge room

Seventy
27th March 2012, 10:23 AM
Yeah and the interior in this one is pretty clean too

And they have heaps of cool little things too, like the a cover to get to the washer reservoir for the rear window, the cover is actually a funnel for filling it!! And just under the ignition there is rubber padding on the steering column plastics, so your keys dont scratch the plastics!

why has it got w55?

celicasupra7m
2nd April 2012, 11:34 PM
because that's what they come with, have seen a few ra65 notch backs with w58s, but its only the ratios that differ not the strength.

Seventy
3rd April 2012, 12:17 AM
Yeah this one is just standard w55, not sure why because the ra60's with the 21rc have a w57 :s
And I do have a w57 sitting in the shed, just cant be fucked swapping them, maybe if i screw the clutch i'll swap them haha

celicasupra7m
3rd April 2012, 12:20 AM
why would you swap them? is your w55 worn?

Seventy
3rd April 2012, 12:27 AM
Actually yeah good question, probably just ratio change.
Wolf, your celica would have a w58 because its a gt-s, along with the ma61 flares.

celicasupra7m
3rd April 2012, 12:48 AM
btw theyre not ma61 flares on the GTS, they're a dealer option, fitted in Aus when new. different shape if you look closely. they also did them in a hatch.

Seventy
3rd April 2012, 11:21 AM
Fair enough

marvis
3rd April 2012, 01:05 PM
My celica had a W58..

Flares don't have the flat top on them.

Seventy
3rd April 2012, 02:29 PM
Oh okay, weird that this one doesnt have w58
Also do you guys know how much camber i would get running xt131 lca's with stock strut tops? Like negative 1 or 2 degrees?

celicasupra7m
4th April 2012, 12:48 AM
hatches have 55s, notch 58s, untill someone shows otherwise. marvis's was a notch.

wolff
9th April 2012, 05:14 PM
are you sure about that? I thought RA65 were all w58, yeah my flares are completely different to ma61.

celicasupra7m
20th April 2012, 09:14 PM
yeah my ra65 hatchback was W55, and the notch back ra65 i just got has a w58.

Okay, so did the coilover conversion on the front struts last week and added xt130 LCA's. Had abit of a headfuck fitting the stock strut tops to the koni shocks, but turning up a spacer fixed that. Very happy with the handling, just got to sort out the rear springs, but yeah it just sticks to road like a magnet and also have heaps more lock now with the lockstops cut off.

Also need to fix the toe problem these get when you lower the rear, is it as easy as an rear wheel allignment or do i have to modify something?

celicasupra7m
21st May 2012, 05:59 PM
looks nice, did you trim the strut tube down? or were the shocks standard length?
otomoto sleeve kit?

what front tyre size are you running?

there is stock adjustment for toe but not camber.

Nah didnt cut the strut tubes down because they were standard length shock, but it would be nicer if i had short strokes.
By otomoto i mean HSD weld on sleeve kit.
Front tires are 185/60
And yeah i know that theres adjustment for the toe, but i was just wondering if the adjustment pin will have enough adjustment as it has a fair bit of toe out.

Only one way to find out i suppose, get an alignment, this will also tell u how much camber you got with the xt130 LCAs!

So just been driving this really.....

Blew the head gasket around august last year, fixed that up and she has been running sweet.

Tried some 205mm 6kg AJPS springs in the rear today, were too low and still abit soft (crappy dampers probably dont help). So just put the other springs back in for now, so would probably need something around 220-240mm and 8kg or 6kg and better shocks.

Anyway heres a pic

Also some 25-30mm bolt on spacers would be good for the rear, but doesnt worry me too much and dont really like wheel spacers...

Nah I didnt, tried to check them aswell as I could by just shining a torch done there, but they seemed fine and it still runs fine.

I just replaced mine last weekend in my corona. If the valve cover is off u should be able to see the guide on the right side as it comes up pretty high to the top sprocket. It will break just a matter of time. New kits off eBay are cheap. Might see u out drift prac one day keen to get my corona out there soon. Cheers Sam

Oh and the car is looking good man

Seventy
22nd January 2013, 08:37 PM
Yeah I just wanted to get the head re-done as quick and cheap as possible being my daily, but if this engine goes I would probably just build up another 22r as new parts are just so cheap and readily availiable.
Wont be making it out to drift days anytime soon but hopefully will be doing some motorkana this year!

Oh well. Youll find a sweet car. How many klm did you get from a tank?

Seventy
12th September 2013, 09:10 PM
I never really cared about fuel efficiency when I had this and I dont think I ever filled it up all the way, so cant really answer. At a guess maybe around 10ishL/100km give or take abit, and depending my driving. Thats why I was curious as to how much you are getting

LittleRedSpirit
13th September 2013, 09:41 AM
Yeah that's cool man, Im just trying to find out what sort of economy to aim for. I figured you may never have back calculated litres vs klm but maybe you knew how many miles from a tank and I could estimate. No biggie.

Seventy
13th September 2013, 03:14 PM
I think 10L/100km or less for a 22re is pretty good. I get average of like 7L/100km out of my 4AFE AE92 daily
