First off, sorry if this is in the wrong section. My name is Tim, i'm 24, i've joined up on here because a friend of mine has offered to sell me his Trueno and i've come to see what the AE is all about. While i am familiar with the Toyota product, i work for Toyota at a dealer for the last 4 years, and have a passion for classic Japanese cars, i have never owned a Toyota. I also have a long history of never owning cars for more than a year :DD my current tally, in my 6th year of having a licence, lies at 3 preludes, a Lexus IS200, a CBR250RR, a Yamaha R6 and i'm currently driving an AP1 S2000.

Basically i was wondering if there was any issues you guys have run into with them? I'm a little cautious buying such an old car without RWC. My friends car he purchased in Kyoto from an AE86 dealer, it's got full documentation from it's rebuild there showing no rust ever. I'm not sure of the exact specs but it's white/black with watanabes, yellow fogs, exhaust and fuel pump and injector upgrades and a fixed back race seat. He's offered it to me without RWC for 8K, it needs vavle stem seals replaced he said. The fixed back seat will need to go for RWC as it's not ADR approved.

No photos yet i'm afraid but you all know what trueno's look like.

This is my S2K which is soon to be sold.

That dealer in Kyoto would be Carland86 (http://www.carland86.com/)

If it's come from them, then I'd guess it's in VGC.

I visited them in 2009 and they had a yard of about 20 86's, from stock to full race cars.
