Just bought something. It's slow as, and it's not going to be remotely exciting to most of you, but it isn't a 4wd or anything. I'm excited by the prospects though, I've desired one for a long time.

driftke70
4th January 2010, 04:04 PM
haha yeah they were joking,

letsgohunting
4th January 2010, 09:56 PM
Yeah was just joking about the kangoo, I actually got a yaris.

First impressions:
the 1.3 is actually better than I expected, it's very similar in feel to the 1.5 and might even rev a little sweeter. Handling is safe, but the dreaded super light steering feel actually gets much heavier once the speed goes up - it must be speed sensitive. Above 30km/h it's actually pretty direct and good feel. Handling stock is easy and understeery, but not bad. With coilovers, sways and semi slicks it should clean up to be a bit of a corner monster. Also I want to put some recaro buckets it in - the stock seats sit a little high. Also want to brace it up a little - just for the feel good factor.

My goal is to be able to keep up with any jzx100s that I may come across upon a drive through the hills ;). I figure if I can at least stick with him through the twisties, It'll be quicker than most fast cars. Though with the little 2NZ-FE making a staggering output of 85hp (engine) @ 6000rpm, I realize this may be wishful thinking. Funnily enough the motor design was actually by Yamaha.

Hahahaha,

wish we had roads (and drivers) like that on the sunshine coast.. Must be on a private mountain road in saudi arabia or something...

The Yaris is significantly more nimble than the mazda, so it should be interesting to see what it's like with tyres/suspension

Serious? I got a lot of love for the 3. new model or one like mine? is the 2.3 much quicker than the 2?

You'll figure out how fwd works soon enough hehe, just play around with it.

silent drifter
5th January 2010, 08:48 PM
04 so the same as yours but in the hatch it hangs on around corners but its the change of direction that gets me un stuck. i might just stick to the toyota i have only just got that to a understanding level, and its have the car of the mazda

driftke70
5th January 2010, 09:43 PM

the moral of the story is we ALL need to do more driving, just like that jzx in nz.

fair enough you have lost licences and are rebuilding your babies, good luck with those.
And letsgohunting I dont mean to be rude but whats with the story about the hoon killing the old lady it's tragic a young guy who doesnt know how to control his car going to fast we've all heard this story before thanks for the reminder, and I hope your not calling some of us hoons cause that wouldnt be polite, we are just here to meet other people like us is all

aaron_86
17th January 2010, 07:05 PM
Bosozoku is fairly homo.

biggo
17th January 2010, 09:42 PM
I was going for a shakotan/works style. I failed on the former cos I ran out of moneh!

anywhat, I dont have a problem with bozo cars hanging their cooler out the front. I bet it keeps the oil cool IF THE HOOK IT UP!

biggo
18th January 2010, 10:08 PM
i bought a klaxon horn today for roadworthy purposes. Tunrs out its far too loud to be legal. I'll hook t up anyway, when i figure out the horn circuit hehe.

Got to redo that last bit of zorst too, needs to be more angled to the passenger side.

biggo
18th January 2010, 10:24 PM
sold it to a dude in hervey bay. He fixed it apparently, walked past his place once and there it was, chilling.

I was however, intoxicated, so maybe it was I who was chilling.

letsgohunting
20th January 2010, 02:26 PM
Amen to that, brother.

Some are done quite nicely.

But I just can't get to like the big oil cooler hanging out the front

I quite like the oil cooler sometimes, but it's the big shark bonnet things, and stupid giant exhausts and stuff like that I can't handle

biggo
20th January 2010, 08:33 PM
Gav, i think you missed the point. They are DESIGNED to provoke emotions. If you know of a cop whos partial to front mounted oilcoolers, shark noses and massive wheels with home made fitment let me know. Im sick of being on the wrong side of the game.

I honestly think more people get away with carrying guns in public than drive a modified car these days. I mean what the fuck? HOW THE FUCK DOES A MODIFIED CAR POSE A THREAT TO AN INNOCENT?

bicycle > motorized 2 wheeler

motorbikes can be more fun, but the humble bicycle is one of the greatest and most utilitarian of all mans creations. When you think about it it's efficient, requires no resources to run, hasn't really changed in the last 80-90 years, contributes to overall health and wellbeing, is cheap.

When the government finally pushes to put speed governer chips in all road cars, I'll be riding a sweet bicycle.... like the one below. haha
