Its been a wile since I have had an all Toyota garage (although I dont have a garage) But this due to change once I get rid of this VL.

Over the weekend, our ever helpful (which is an understatement to say the least) administrator Matt, delivered me a new toy. Nothing spectacular, just an AE92 Seca.

Really not a fan of the seca styling lol but I have slayed some ugly moles over the years, so Im sure I can cope.with quite possibly the ugliest corolla ever produced (looks like a pig with down syndrome imo) But this little fug mobile, is packing a little surprise.

Thats right, blacktop goodness, and Gunner is in love, didnt realise how much I missed a good 4A, till I drove this. Having said that, it hasnt all been smooth sailing.

Sunday morning, started off with the return line off, so I could drain the 25l of stale fuel, took 2 hours this way, but such little effort. Then a new set of NGK "platys" I had kicking around. And the first frap around the bloke was had. But all was not as it should be, with 5000rpm on the dial, the "seci" was falling over. FUCKING VVT AARRGGHH!!!!1! So back in the driveway, bonnet up, hand on the VVT solenoid, and.noticedthe inlet gear, was.making a sound resembling that of an S15 VVT gear (insert more swearing here lol) Not much I can do about that, so woth the solenoid unplugged, another frap, and more swearing, 7K and its falling over again. So bonnet up again, dialed in 12* timing reset everything, another frap and 7200, and.some midrange.torque, atleast were getting somewhere.

Then I remembered the 02 wasnt connecte, so under the car I went, removed.the sensor to obtain a part number, and get it wirred correctly, with that done, ecu in test mode anpther frap, then diag check, no codes, WINNER, but not really, she still falls.over at 7500.

So thats where its at, almost ready for rego, and.making about 60kw lol hopefully it will come good with some new VVT nits.

Though I have flushed the inlet gear in diesel, it has free'd it up, but Its still noisey, should probably.get oil prea gauge out and.make sure we have suffwcient pressure.

So the plans for this nugget? Not much as it needs.to be a reliable daily, but Ido have some good bits, amd some cool ideas.

5zigen headers, HiLine Performance 20v exhaust
BCs
13x6 bridgestone rally wheels amd.kuhmo semis
110mm stacks
Remote resovoir for clutch master
AE92 scoop with HiLine intake fogger
Nardi
and a decent drivers seat
there a bit more but theyre secrets, but will be aiming for the 150hp unopemed, who needs a 7A? Lol

blake.

Looks good man, get the hatch grill, would make it a little less ugly at the front, there's nothing you can do about the rear tho.

Hatch front quarters would look good too.

Gunner
25th July 2012, 08:29 AM
Yeah a mate and I were susssing out how hard it would be to run the hatch front end, Ill just reshell next yr though. Either another 86, but more than likely an 82 hatch.

Matt
25th July 2012, 08:50 AM
Hatch front end will bolt up if you have a complete front end... But cheap car is cheap

Gunner
25th July 2012, 10:09 AM
Precisely, nothings changing anytime soon anyway, more important things to pay for.

Kevspec
25th July 2012, 04:13 PM
Looks alright man, will be a cool daily later down the track, i know how you roll!

Also, fuck your driveway! I thought mine was bad..

Gunner
25th July 2012, 05:17 PM
Yeah driveway sucks, dunno how Im going to get the 86 down it haha.

Well VVT solenoid is solenoiding, and the cam gear isnt leaking, or locked up, only two options left :/ She'll get an engine oil flush and then the royal purple treatment, and have an ecu on standby. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have it sorted.

25th July 2012, 07:22 PM
Come make my blacktop 150hp unopened

Gunner
25th July 2012, 07:44 PM
Work on your exhaust system, theres alot of power locked up in there.

Jacobxxx
25th July 2012, 09:56 PM
i have straight pipe to Jun muffler and most of exhaust made up of street sign poles, i believe this to be up there with the optimum system for a 20v in KE70.

Correct me if im wrong

Gunner
25th July 2012, 10:06 PM
Lol yeah I think youre onto a winner. All that extra weight holds the heat in and shit.

Gunner
14th August 2012, 08:53 PM
Have done 450km of natio runs in this over two nights, and fuck its woken up. Tacho is still reading in the 7s, thinking it may be faulty and not keeping up. Will be going on the dyno thursday night.

Soon headers, civic radiator, 110mm stacks and alot of alloy sheet

blake.
14th August 2012, 09:05 PM
No to sure but it could be related, my brother had similar issues with the tacho in his ae92 4agze bigport.

My auto elec mate put a relay with diode or risistor or something (I wasn't paying attention) and it worked.

Tho we never had issues with the silvertops ae92's we did in the past.

Matt
14th August 2012, 09:12 PM
I've got 3 clusters you can try... Maybe the dodgey bastard who wired it up goofed

Defo no resistors etc required to boost tach signal

Gunner
14th August 2012, 09:29 PM
Will hook up the inductive pickup forthe dyno when i take it, will give me a definate answer.

peter_soj
10th September 2012, 09:59 AM
Updatesssss? How'd the dyno go

Gunner
10th September 2012, 06:59 PM
No real updates just been driving it. Havent had the chamce.to get it on the dyno. When im free the dyno is not lol.

Corrected mixtures, drives good, but oil rings/valve stems are on the way out, so need to do something about that. Also may buy a 6speed this week, if the dude will put it on a pallet for me to have it shipped.

Matt
10th September 2012, 07:19 PM
I should have a set of valve stem seals you can have....

So this is run in and going very well. Had the day off, so decided to do.some back to back testing of the sq engineering stacks vs std items. And fuck me, the midrange/topend increase is dramtic to say the least. Yet to see the dyno, but i would estimate 95kw+ with the 110mm stacks (comp test is reading 205psi) keeping in mind my std headers have been crushed to 2/3 there size at the crossmember bump, and the rest of the system is pretty crappy press bent shit. I do honestly believe this will crack 100 once I have taken care of those issues.

Vance
4th October 2012, 12:50 AM
ill have to check and see if i have those aftermarket 20v fwd headers sitting in my garage still or if i chucked them. if i do theyre free to you bro

Gunner

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/500696.jpg

List of casualties.

4 tyres

nothing left of lucas lms116 pads
fried brakefluid
cracked rear muffler
massacared wheel allignment
ruptured water pump connecting hose
leaking radiator end tank

I had fun... Thanks joel and matt ;)
