For a while now there have been a few articles released indicating that Subaru will be releasing a turbocharged BRZ under the STI product line.

Subaru STI will be dropping the DI/port-injection system currently found in the GT86 / BRZ in favour for a straight direct port injection setup.
A twin scroll turbocharger that is developed in house at STI that will see the 2L 4 cyclinder engine output up to approximately 280hp with more than 250 pouds - feet of torque.
It will be interesting to see what Toyota do to follow, though the rumours from Toyota are they are concentrating their efforts on making a convertible.
