Hi guy

what size tyre should I be running to best suit my purpose min/no rubbing?

if anyone has any photos of same fitment that be awesome. Thanks

You'll need a huge amount of work to the guards for a start if you have any hope of fitting 10's, tire size alone won't even get it close to fitting.

What is your purpose? hard parking? drifting? grip?

Hard parking and drifting, 195/50 is fine, though x10 width will hit something at the front with stock suspension components at full lock if you can even get to full lock lol.

With stock ride height you wont scrub your tyres when your car dips backwards or forward.

below is my car on 15x8.5 -6 fronts and 15x9 -13 rears with 225/50/15 T1R tyres.. rear cars have been pull out as much as possible before the quarter panel started to flex and the front guards have been hand flared and pumped as much as possible.. i would say the front are about 30mm wider then stock and the rears would be about the same. STILL not enough clearance, they JUST scrub with these tyre size, they were fine with 195/50.. no scrub at all

P.S i have adj LCA so i could dial a wider track up front then a normal AE86 so i wouldn't scrub anything when i had 195/50 tyres..now i have 225 so yes, a lot of fucking around just so tyres and wheels wont scrub..

hammer and dolly for neat finish,i say 195 50 15 to give more clearance,if its a drifter who gives a fuck about max grip,225 on a 86 is a biggg tyre, not a big deal like made out to be,i would do other things first, thow my 9's -24's(14's) i got those under without a huge amount of work, goodluck, take your time doing it and youll be fine and runnin UGGEEEE WHEELS,might look to big without a body kit, overfenders or something thow, thats why i went back to
8's -12 much better size on stock body 86

Hahahhah I don't think ill do it with a pole and hammer maybe roller it with a gaurd roller.

would you have a picture if your car ? Is 195 on 10" too stretch ?

guard roller will only work on the rears, the front your going to need to use a hammer and dolly, you'll find out why if you try to use a roller on the front guards LOL..

it depends what you want your tyres to do. 195/50 will fit, but you will get more tyre noise, less road comfort and obviously less grip..and to be honest it looks mexican with mega stretch tyres.

if i could do it again, i would get wheels that is just enough to fit stock guards so there is no fucking around + getting defected for wheels to big

195,do it,hammer and dolly is they way to do it,my personal opinion 15 x 10 is to big on a stock body 86,needs a kit and overfenders, fiberglass wide gaurds up front, maybe try get/find a set of rotas in a 15 x 9,if cash is tight, wil fit easier, look better and drive better, look up drift kids build, his got fiberglass gaurds, rear wide body over fender things, looks neat with the 10's.he was also red stickerd the night i met him at the track haha

yeah terry i agree with james, 10's are too wide for stock bodys unless your running frp gaurds, arnt those 10: wide superlites for track only use anyway? i guess thats why they are cheap.
swap them for some 8's or 9" rims, should be able to sell them easy on ebay
