All this event needs is an MA61 drifting and it looks like that's been taken care of. Fuck. Yeah.

Really hoping to get to this event. Haven't really given my car a good thrash at the track yet, so I need to finish it off and get to a track day to see what needs to be replaced or if it has any issues. Going to be tight.

Does everyone usually bring a lot of spares?

sundee
21st November 2012, 02:04 PM
You forgot the main sponsor, that's no good.
But nice effort though :)
Keen to see what else you can come up with

Just some constructive criticism ,
The car looks like it has EH Holden wheels on it, and the writing seems like something you would see in a Clint Eastwood western flick.

I like the look of die cut stickers.. So maybe just some the writing, modern funky and a logo? I need to think about it some more

No pressure at all, just some of the things I'm going for.

Ma60 would be sweet with a 1j ;)
If your car is on a trailer I would just bring essentials.
If you car is turbo with anything less then an F series, I'd be packing a spare diff.
What do you reckon Jo Jo? Haha

maxhag

pmsl Jojo, you funny bastard. No she's a little smokey, so i'm gunna check the rings, and all the clearances. Had a mechanic at work do the pistons and rings during the rebuild, but then he got sacked, so i put the rest together, so i'm not sure of his work.
Only going to put it together again and sell the engine package, but want it 100% first.

maxhag

29th November 2012, 06:27 PM
I don't want to go all nazi about it, but if your caught selling food or providing food to spectators that have not payed, you will be asked to leave.
It is a requirement from Raleigh for all spectators to pay the entry fee.
So if you have any association as a driver to any spectators that try to avoid paying the spectator fee, you also will be asked to leave.

It's about honesty guys.

Might be a silly question, but if we get a bit peckish between meals and whip out a bag of chips or two and share around will there be issues with that?

Matt
29th November 2012, 11:36 PM
Your allowed to bring your own food and that. I think Joel's point was more dont give the provided stuff to those who haven't paid.

plus dont sneak people in and be honest... We have to keep raleigh happy to be allowed back.

Matt
29th November 2012, 11:38 PM
Payment details get sent in an email to the address you have registered with this forum... It's an eft transfer only, if you didn't get the email send sundee / Joel a pm and he will provide tthem to you

Just to clarify,
You can bring whatever food you want, eat whenever you want , BUT
If you provide "meals" to anyone not wearing a wrist band.. You will be asked to leave.
Pretty much everyone there should be wearing a wrist band which means they have payed the relevant fee.

I noticed at the 1st event there were spectators there that were with drivers that had not payed the spectator fee.
We got questioned about it but they let it slide this time.

My point is I need good old fashioned honestly from all you blokes attending, not some tight arse teenage attitude so to speak.

I've gone a step further with zero 2 and incorporated meals and drinks for b'fast, lunch and dinner as it worked well with the 1st event, because I'm sure snags got a little boring after a while?

If you have payed and you choose to eat smiths chips all day that you brought bulk from cosco , go for it.
Make enough sense?

SO, pretty much if you bring a spectator, and they have not payed , AND over the weekend I see them not sporting a wrist band, they will be asked to pay or leave.
If they don't co operate then you the driver as their friend will not be allowed back on the track untill they pay or leave.
So all entrants need to pass on this MSG to all there friends they bringing so there is no confusion.

Comprende' ?

sundee

I hope this doesn't sound to full on, I need to pay Raleigh the relevant entry fee's,
Good luck anyone else getting an event there, I pretty much have it all tied up.
So if we stay on their good side it will be more good times to come.

Matt

i'm surprised it isn't sold out yet.... Though i did get a facebook message asking for a discount for 8 spots, to which i replied no this is a non profitable event.

Gunner
2nd December 2012, 10:25 AM
Its cheaper tgan a single day anywhere else and people want a discount?

maxhag
2nd December 2012, 12:35 PM
To me, asking for 8 spots (at a discount at a non profit event), is pretty rude, and not really within the Spirit of the event....
Are they DC members? I dont know any facts, but DC members should have a cap on invites........ We dont want to just fill up with randoms. Ie; DC members should be capped at 2 invites. Because, if 1 Dc member brings 5+ randoms, and this happens a few times, the event will be filled blow ins, and the event will loose part of what made Drift Fest 01 so special.....

sundee

Bahahah , are you serious? A discount? Each individual would have to pay for their spot anyway... Discount? I don't know weather to laugh or rant.....it's not like your buying 2 K in parts...

Gunner

I reckon we should have it lcked to dc members, until 6 weeks out, then let the randoms enter.

Matt will have to answer this, but can the rego page be viewed if your not signed in?
If not maybe it should be made that way?
The dynamic of the group at zero 1 was great except for a certain few... I'm sure you know who..
I'd like to keep it that way, communal, not segregated .

Raleigh only got one because i busted there chops about it... and he pretty much picked it up off the side of the road... im sure they wouldnt mind.
though we would have someone opperate it, because if someone hurts themselves for whatever reason... then decides they want to be a prick about it and take "us" to court.... what a nightmare!

i could only imagine - $5 to $10/ tyre is a fair asking price.

we would have to work out a way of transporting it aswell.

Reason I'd leave entering late would be because of work.
If I'm suppossed to be workin and miss both days of work it would cost me around $800 in wages, add fuel tyres and entry and it suddenly becomes very expensive.

sundee
26th December 2012, 12:19 PM
How much stretch are we talking about here?
if your talking say a 195 on a 10" rim, then it will need a beed blaster or an aerosol.

but i think matt was looking at one with a beed blaster.

no problem if you want to do it with an aerosol... im not endorsing it at all... just to cover my own ass.

drift kid
26th December 2012, 01:31 PM
Yeah exactly that lol, 195 onto my 10's ill bring aerosol just incase

maxhag
26th December 2012, 06:43 PM
You are gonna stuff around too much time doing this if fitting massive stretchig is a problem...... Forget about "show", and just use shitty normal rims for drift..... Cutting your track time short by doing what you are suggesting

Raleigh ripple strips WILL kill good rims.... (and chassis rails)... Trust me.......

Snail200

Well this will be my last resort, Im talking two wheels with new Tyres and four with half decent Tyres, i have no other wheels so Im taking a spare set of tyres to put on once all the others are busted ;)

What car/engine are you bringing?

From the Drift Fest 01, it seemed all the turbo guys chewed the tyres ( I think I went thru 16 tyres from memory), and the N/A guys had great fun all weekend on only like 2-3 pairs......

Any pictures of said gutter drop technique and or ripple strips?

I can show you the after shots of the ripple strip.... :(

Doesn't look too sinister, but the forces transferred straight thru the LCA's to the chassis rails/x-member.... Rails are "twisted". (ie; The X-member -> chassis rail bolts are no longer vertical. The bolts are angled away from the hit side, meaning that pretty much everything has shifted)

Just my luck, ay.....

That's a tad scary, especially for someone like me who's going there to learn to drift D:
Are there safer spots, can you avoid those bits?

Would rather avoid a situation where I don't have a car to drive after only an hour of bein there :p

Oh and I applied for leave today so will see what work has to say. :)

There are a couple of potholes on the other side of the ripple strips... I plan on addressing these with dirt . That was freakishly unlucky.

Jo Jo, incident was Definatly an unlucky one, other then that there was no other real damage caused from coming off the track. So no need to worry. Just have fun .
You going to truck up some dirt Matt ?

^^

Please EVERYONE, Dont let this scare you off..... I was just really unlucky.... Raleigh is a great track, and isn't as bad as it sounds for the cars.......

Tyrone - That part of the track is after the long sweeper, so speeds are highest leading up to that "S" bend. I have drifted once or twice before (:P), so I had a few 90deg entrys to that corner.... If you are a beginner, you will be fine....

You can avoid that area pretty easy tyrone by just taking it easy through there, but even though its probably the roughest little section (and its really not that bad), its also one of the funnest bits and feels great when you get a smooth line through it so you'll be hitting it hard before you know it ;)

Madness, ill leave the spare tyres at home then, Im bringing my 20v n/a ae86 ;) and just curious what will the rules be as to track work? Sections of the track used? Or full track? How many cars on at a time?

Matt
30th December 2012, 09:43 PM
The rules last time where go out when you want, as we only had maybe a maximum of 10 cars out there at anyone time. There is a section of track which is considered a non-drift area which is a couple of corners. This is to stop people being parked lined up ready to go and being rear ended.

But the average wait from Drift Fest 1 would have been maybe 30-45 seconds between runs. Given the capped numbers the experience will be exactly the same this time.

Though, now that xmas is outta the way those thinking about registering better do so as the spots will fill up quickly.

Yeah pretty keen to bring my S14 out for this, it's a pretty solid daily so far so it should handle a few hard Laps at raleigh Without too much dramas I think.

Update on how many spots left?

good to hear man, you will have a great time. I would prefer the spectators to pay before the event if possible.
The only risk spectators take that dont pre register/pay is that there may not be food available for them over the weekend.
they would have to wait untill everyone else is fed 1st before they got a look in.

Guys, just a not, there are a few of you who have registered but have NOT payed, im going through the list this week, and if this is one of you, your entry for will be removed.
so make sure if you want in, that you payup before you miss out.

entires have been coming in since the new year has started, and i expect the remaining spots to fill up quickly.

so dont muck around if you want it guys.

its going to be another great 2 days of drifo mondo

ALSO, a note for PASSENGERS:

i have about 4 passengers registered, you will all be required to be buddied with at least 1 driver.
the passenger pass is not considered a roller coaster ride pass.

YOU need to have a dedicated car to ride in that you yourself need to organise before the day.

i dont mind at all, if during the weekend, you make mates and go for a speal in another car, or 5 other cars for that matter, just as long as:

1. your not hassling drivers for a ride - because it will be there choice in the end if they take you or not.
2. you don't expect officials to organise you a ride. this will not happen!
3. your will need to supply your own approved helmet, or no ride, no questions.
4. you will need the appropriate clothing and shoes.

1st page has been updated with all event info, rules and reg's

all attendants are advised to read carefully thru the 1st post in this thread so they are aware of the requirements of attending this event.

it is in writing, we had a select few claiming they were not aware of noise restrictions etc at the 1st event.

the rules are there and they are enforced.

So is it still cool to pay on the day for my passenger/spectator without pre registering? I want my misses to come for a run but don't know yet if she'll be free that weekend and would be easier if can just pay for her on the day if she can make it. Don't need to worry about food, she can go without... ;). If not I can just register here and hope she can make it :/

Also with the spectator thing, events at raleigh always seem to draw a bit of a crowd who come to sit on the hill and watch (and act like nob heads when they leave) did that happen at drift fest 1? I went to the matsuri at raleigh in october and heaps of randoms just turn up to watch. Im just worried people might randomly turn up just to watch but know drivers etc and cruise into the pits and steal our food!! Is that going to cause problems if it happens

sundee
3rd January 2013, 04:17 PM
that definitely wont be happening, considering ill be there dishing up the food, ive got a full list of names and wrist band will be distributed.
we had about 5 people total who watched drift fest 01.. most were not even drift fans, but were just visiting the water park..

the event is really low key, and i like it that way, its all about the driver's not the show.

with the passenger rego, you can pay on the day but if there is no food left we cant do much about that as we will be only catering for the amount of people that pre register, obviously + some, but its the risk you take... if your happy with that then its fine.

Sweet as, Im liking the sound of this! Its a lot funner practicing without a bunch of twats booing cause you didn't 'do a good skid bro'! lol.

Ill just see what happens as it gets closer and register her if I know for sure she can make it
