The FA20 is a great NA engine which has unfairly received allot of hate from the Toyota purists. When asked why the hatred is present, most respond by saying the low power output and a lack of the turbo which subaru have been renowned for producing in the WRX range for the past decade.

Would the same response be given if the Toyota 86 had received a sportier version of the 1.8L 2ZR-FAE found in the 2012 model Corollas? If past history is anything to go by i.e. the under powered Toyota paeso the answer is "YES!"

Though I do anticipate someone somewhere will eventually will be dropping in a 4age, though getting it to pass the emissions tests will be somewhat tricky.

My limited knowledge in this matter tells me you can go forward in engine yr of manufacture into older chassis and keep its emissions your sweet, but going backwards you need to either meet or exide the original engines emissions, something a 4age in a ZN6 wont be able to do.

Correct if im wrong. But i believe its along those lines.
