Hey guys,

Thought I might as well throw up a thread on my ZN6.

He's called Sonic after the well known arcade game character because of his colour and because he is known for blasting off the line after spinning on the spot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShdXiCyQ8Co) for a while!

27855

I received it just before Christmas (after a 6 month wait) and will click over 1000km's tomorrow.

I absolutely love the car, its a perfect balance of comfort, handling, looks, economy, speed and fun.

Here he is:

As for plans, well, drive it.

I have decided that I am going to leave it pretty much standard, at least for the period of warranty. That gives other people plenty of time to go and break their cars to figure out what the weaknesses of the drivetrain are. Then I should be able to modify mine whilst retaining reliability!

Anyway, I have some new plates coming soon, but thats about it!

Cheers,

-Robbo

I am nearly through 3.5k now (will shoot through it tomorrow)

In other news I got some plates that show it has replaced my previous 86:

Well, I clicked though 5000km this morning and thought I would have a look at the oil to prove it needs to be serviced more often than every 15k... The oil was remarkably clean.... kinda blew my point out of the water

My car has been mainly used for highway driving though and I have to say it loves it.

Fuel economy from Canberra to Sydney ~5.7L/100km... Evo used to get about 9.8 on a good day :S

I agree, it loves highway cruising...

Did about 200km on 1/4 tank last weekend which is mighty impressive (~6.2L/100km - mostly highway with a little stop start and spirited driving)

Well, yesterday marked 3 months from the day I picked up the car from Toyota. Last night the odometer stood at 10,494 when I parked it for the night so it has already served me well!

For all of those still unsure about the 86, I love it. Personally I don't think it NEEDS more power and I enjoy the involving, revy nature of the fa20.

And as I said, after 10.5k in 3 months I still love the car, and that's probably one of the biggest tests it can pass.

eeek. ive had mine for 5 months and have done 8500km's which i thought was excessive.

they are a brilliant car. i just hope toyota/suburu keep it simple with them in the years to come so they dont ruin what makes them special. the definitely dont need more power, if you want to go faster you just need bigger balls and take corners faster.

i do wish they revved to 9000rpm instead of 7400rpm. Keiichi Tsuchiya developed D4-D injection to handle higher revs for his 86. hopefully that info becomes common knowledge soon so we can all do it with bigger cams to reach that 9000rpm figure.

i should be going down to the ACT soon. it would be good to see my cars sonic blue gts twin

Unfortunately my time with this car came to an end today. I sold it on to a dealership as my lease contract was at an end. It really was a great car, and I still can't get over all the features they put in a car for so little money. I managed just shy of 60,000km in my 3 years of ownership. I have no doubt I will own more of these in the future. Until then who knows...

For now, here are a couple of the good times I had with the car that I have sat on until now:
