Hey Guys,

Thanks to Nikkojoe for suggesting this...

If you are doing your own oil changes on your 86, head into Subaru to buy your oil filters for the BRZ as they are $17 vs the $35 Toyota is charging.

It is also worth grabbing a sump plug washer whilst you are at it to ensure the sump doesn't leak after you have changed the oil.

It is exactly the same filter, but it comes in a different box.

Looking at the 86 that was in for a first inspection yesterday and they look like most of the car is Subaru, all the panels are stamped Subaru only thing I think is made by toyota would probably be the injection system, haha.

The diff has toyota stamped on it :D

ALSO, when I asked toyota about the filter they said it was not something they carry but is available from the local warehouse (so double the price and two trips to get one...).

But yeah, I'm lucky I got the sump washer as I didn't know it was a crush type. They are the new sized smaller washers apparently found on new subarus...

If anyone wants part numbers for anything (subaru brz or toyota 86) let me know as I have access to both epc's

Also oil for these must run what is on the cap which is 0W30 I think? it is $75 for a 4L bottle and need 5.5L. Had someone come in to change the oil and filter on his 86 for a first service but we only had 1 bottle of oil and no sump plug crush washer.

Oil is 0w20 or 5w30 sn grade. Toyota sell 4L and subaru sell 5.5L for about $100

Those prices sure make the fixed price servicing attractive

Thats it, it was 0W20 or it said 5W30 for emergency's only.

Owners manual does not state anywhere it's for emergency's only ;) The subaru guy told me the same line too....

Besides id rather have 5w30 when I do some light track work
