View Full Version : R14 front tyres options ? No more re001s

sam92

I went to get another pair of re001s today in a 185/60 r14 but they had none in stock and as most people know they are discontinued.

Just wondering if a few people would share what they are using and what they think of them for track/road use.

All opinions and suggestions appreciated.

Sam

Tell them to order them in. Got a Set 3 weeks ago, apparently there's still plenty left in NSW

I went in today man and there is 1 left in that size. The guy at bridgestone was suggesting maybe go semi's or find out what other people run and I went to a couple of other places that suggested Yokohama c drive 2s.

I got some 185/60 14 last week. They are around.
Inverse and trackside both have them down here.
I'd of given the yokos a go but was on a budget, loved the c drives I had on the forester, heaps more then the re001s I have on there now. Sad panda

If bridgestone arent doing a good 185/60/14 its a sad day. The options have been getting harder for years in 14" size and Bridgestone were always persisting with a good bang for buck street tyre. The RE002 has no 14" so once they stop the RE001 mould it might be all over. :(

Re002?

Re002?
They don't make a RE002 185/60r14 :( I did find they list RE-11a 185/60r14 in Japan, they might be an option through Jesse Streeter or nengun.

I've been trying to find re001's in Sydney this week. Had no luck, none in warehouse. Everywhere I ring doesn't have any in stock and can't get them.

Ku31's and 595's in 185/55 are other options. Mixed opinions on the 595's though. And then C drives in 185/60's, can't find to much about them from people driving on them.

Had the same issues with 14's. just don't really know of a good tyre apart from 001's. wish we got re01's here?? I wonder why 002's aren't made in a 14, it can't be an unpopular size. Love a few more options. Rim protector edge is also nice just incase!

14's in general is a very unpopular size in the grand scheme of things to be honest, so it's easy to see why they have been dropped. Massive tyre choices in 15's if it's that big of a deal.

As the others have said, got a bunch of new (not old stock) RE001's in 185/60/14 the other day. Leigh at Inverse tyres (Bayswater, Melbourne) can still get them in. Call him: 03 9720 9581 or 0421 345 748

With Federals, go the 595 EVO's instead of the 595's...... They are a better tyre......
The federals are good in the dry, but fucking terrible in the wet.......

I think ill just stick to re001s while I can through inverse! I know they are good and still decent in the wet.

EVO is a no go in 14's. the 595 might have to be my next choice. Are they actually and good?? won't be driving in the wet so doesn't matter

If my car was track only I wouldn't mind not having wet grip but its my street car as well and I go to the snow a fair bit during winter that's why I want another pair of re001s so that I have them all round.

Another vote for Federal 595 here. Running 185/55r14 and I am a big fan of them. They seem to like a bit of heat to work well, and they work alright in the rain from my experience.

I paid about $530 fitted and balanced for 4 of them from memory. They are also available in a 195/60r14

Jacobxxx

$530 seems a touch expensive for 595?

KU31 were like $110ea and where i live we get charged courier fee's too, so should be like $100ea

I am going off memory here. Definitely was around that though? I didn't realise KU31 was available in that size, might try them next time around

EDIT: they would've been about $490 - $500 for the tyres, just remembered I had a rego check done at the same time. I was remembering the full bill not the tyre price

Hi Tally

Thanks for your recent enquiry.

RE001 has been replaced by RE002 in most sizes.

The two remaining sizes are listed on the following link: https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/potenza-adrenalin-re001

RE002 is a very well accepted tyre in our market and this is worth your consideration should the available RE001 sizes not be suitable for your vehicle.

Kind regards,

Tom

Comments:
Hi there, I am looking for some clarification on the availability of the Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001 tyre in the 185/60/R14 size. I have heard conflicting reports that the tyre has been discontinued (because of the introduction of the RE002) however apparently they are still available. I have called several Bridgestone select stores but to no avail. The Bridgestone website below still lists them as being available: https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/potenza-adrenalin-re001 Could you please provide some clarification as I would really like to purchase if still available. Thank You.

Because the tyre shops buy from distributors that might have decided to not buy them...I'm certain Bridgestone don't distribute themselves...

in Victoria my tyre dealer we use for work says they can still get them, unfortunately I haven't ordered any personal tyres for the 86 in a while, anyone know if theres stamps on sidewalls that indicate if its old stock or something from an O/S order ?

AJPS

all tyres are date stamped with a week and year so you will be able to tell

you could ask for their newest stock perhaps?

A guy from bridgestone came into my place of work a month or so ago to let us know about specials and all that and i queried him on the availability of re001's and he informed me that he was actually on the team that came to the decision to stop distributing that size tyre in aus due to it not being a very popular size anymore.

So any re001 in 185/60 is old stock.

Good news small wheeled fans. Bridgestone are bringing the RE71R to Australia as of a month ago however you have to order on a waiting list for a few months. Would be similar to Advan AD08R in grip i would say, same class of tyre so very grippy.
