Wondering that too...

gslrallysport
24th June 2009, 02:14 PM
Hi guys,

Nup, they don't do caliper kits for the AE86, only pads and rotors. Their theory is the car is light enough that decent pads and fluid will be more than enough.

Of course if anyone does front end conversions then they may be available for those.

Greg

thats what i was thinking. but you are probably right. rotors and pads with good fluid and braided lines would be more than enough with jap callipers.

Just wondering how much for ADM AE86 pads
the Mu website has
Bestop 169
Type NS 180
B Spec 242

are they prices for both ADM and JDM or?

gslrallysport
1st July 2009, 12:52 PM
That's JDM pads only. I'm not sure if they'll fit ADM caliper, or if it's the other way round, I know one can fit the other.

But if you're only looking at B Spec (500 degree) level of pads, you're FAR better off getting something like a QFM HPX (550 degree and very low dust) for $79.

As much as I'd love to sell you a pad 3 times the price, you'd be better of with the HPX at $79. Unfortunately though, the ADM HPX are on a manufacturing back order, but we do have the next pad up the A1RM (which would be the Project Mu HC+ equivalent) for $149. The HPX is due in 4ish weeks.

Or else if you think the JDM Project Mu pads might fit, I can PM you better pricing than that.

Greg

Which Hilux calipers? We've got quite a few Hilux pads on the self in the various compounds due to them being popular in conversions.

QFM HPX = Bendix Ultimate
QFM A1RM = Bendix SRT
QFM Comp9 = Bendix Race

Hi mate,

Definitely not, the XT130 brakes are very different to AE86. The XT130 will either have these:

or these:

not really sure what pads i should get, its going to be street car with a fair bit of track work. Drift not circuit

gslrallysport
5th October 2009, 12:12 PM
For a street car doing track work (as much as I'd love to sell you a pad 3 times the price) your best options will be the QFM A1RM. Equivalent pad to a Ferodo DS2500, but is relatively low dust and rotor wear, and a third the price of the Project Mu HC+ at $119 per axle set.

The Project Mu HC+ is an excellent entry level track pad, but unless you're prepared to change pads at the track, they're far too high in rotor wear and cost ($339) to be an ideal pad for street use as well. The A1RM on the other hand is quite a streetable pad (I personally run it in my Cross 6 ute that will never see the track), but I also use it on my rally car.

For front and rear A1RM you're looking at $238 delivered. Otherwise the equivalent Project Mu would be $339 for the front, and $289 for the rear, but I would strongly suggest only running them at the track.

gslrallysport

Hi mate,

Project Mu Drift rear pads to suit DB421 are $165 for the axle set. There's not alot else available specific as a rear drift pad. The closest thing would be something like a QFM A1RM, and these are $119 for the axle set.

Hi Ben,

Yep, got both front and rear A1RM and slotted rotors in stock for a JDM. We actually ordered for Cal (above) on Monday the D1 rears, and they were the last set in stock in the country. If you're desperate for them I can find out when they're getting more, but the A1RM's will be almost as good..

They're not listed anywhere on the Australian site.

S186 are drum shoes for AE86's and a couple of other random models. I know they are available in Type HC+, but I'd be interested to know what other types they come in, and especially if you can get them in a D1 Spec.

Which pads were you after, or what are you using the car for?

gslrallysport
5th August 2011, 09:24 PM
You don't need a V8 Supercar (of which Project Mu are a control supplier!) to benefit from their race and competition pads!!!

Just wanted to let you know how the new pads went as I was at the track yesterday.

Short answer is these pads are amazing (Pmu H16-03)! I cut 6 seconds, yes 6, off my previous time with changes to the car being, higher boost (14psi over 10), pads and braided lines and federal 595rs-r. I was amazed at the stopping power of these pads, I was braking over 20meters later off the straight and from much higher speeds. I did 120km on the circuit and they literally only got better as the day went on. The hotter they got the better they got, I seriously could not fault them at all and I really believe I was nowhere near the limit of the pads. I can't actually describe how effective they are and how much confidence I have in them! The biggest letdown by far was my lack of experience, the car, brakes and tyres were nowhere near their limits.

Oh and the A1RMs in the rear were good too, no issues there and they did their job as they should, it's much harder to review rear pads when the fronts stand out like that!

I have been referring lots of people your way and can now back that with some proof!

Thanks heaps,
Justin
