yeh well i was thinking maybe the turbo route..
how is it converting these to trubo? as in many hassles etc
or i was thinking the 4agze/agte could do either of them..

right now im more focused on getting some cash so i can get it handling better... soo much body roll at the moment!

you do realise just how much you need to spend on a 3tc to get that sort of performance dont you?

most of those drag ones arent really much more than a 3tc rocker cover bolted onto money

I say ditch the old carpet and just get some nice black boot carpet... from autobarn is like $20 bucks for 2m, get another role and you can do the front...

and maybe wrap the dash with it... would look better and cover the cracks...

and then not put the seats back??
not sure if i want to them back, not really necessary. Was told all i need to do is remove seat belt bolts n that stuff and just fill them up or something along those lines and its then 'legal' sound about right anyone?

im going to make the plastics black i think, just clean them up and put them on to cover the wires up

so ive formed a rough plan that i will follow with this car..

1. just drive it and have fun while it's stock, just to get used to how the car handles etc

2. clean it up, i've got the new window in, changed all oils, and its been half stripped..
so next thing is rust repairs, and then it will go in for a coat of paint, it will stay green, and will sit on gold centered mesh and then get all new window seals. at the same time i will have dash fixed up, and will fix up all trims where needed.

from here havnt decided on exact details yet.. and i also need to read up on a lot of things in regards to these areas as i'm new to this.. but anyway
3. will be doing the sussy.. maybe some 86 struts, or possibly carina struts, was told the only real difference is carinas have bigger brakes, and then springs etc, etc.

4. i think i will stay n/a and go the 4age

On the upside you haven't poured countless amount of money into this yet. Would be way worse if it happened 5 years into the build.

skizzamods
14th July 2009, 11:39 PM
yeh thats true
need some opinions,

spoke to dad and he reckons that her insurance company may be inclined to call it write off because the damage may done may be worth more than the car or something along those lines.... what do you think?

stahlz_ae86
14th July 2009, 11:55 PM
Pretty much. If it's a statuatory write off it means that the cost to repair outweighs car value but it can be fixed and registered still. If it is written off for structural integrity reasons (can't remember the wording) it's only worth its weight in scrap once the remaining good bits are removed.

If it's not worth fixing in the end maybe consider finding an AE71, more rev happy, more rigid body, better steering etc...

skizzamods
15th July 2009, 12:01 AM
well thats exactly what i was thinking.. it wont be because of structual reasons i dont think..
but maybe an 86 shell and building that up... while keeping this and just lock it up and have fun.. rip the front off and try get some cheap shit to replace it..

OR

scrap it.. keep good parts for something else or sell them to go towards something else ae86 for example

EDIT: if its statutory write off do i get cash for the value of the car or something like that??

yea, check redbook that will give you the value, it would be a check tho
then you have to talk to your insurance company about buying the car off them, because when the write it off it becomes there's

pity about the crash man, im always driving through sterling to go to my gfs house

:( :( :( Very sad to see this happen, was looking forward to how it was gonna turn out

but ah well what can ya do thats reality for ya... some people just dont know how to drive...

its repairable though no doubt about it from what ya can see in the pics...

get new front end panels and stuff, a hammer and dolly and ull be set...

Thats a real shame man!......on a plus, that bumper could be straitened and fitted to your new e7!
If you went that way.....lots of your parts could be used!

yeh spoke to aami and they classed it as a repairable write off..

had 2 options to take the car and $900 or leave the car and take $1000

i kept the car, but will leave it aside until i finish school, and then will decide where i go from there...

if i move on i will probably go an ae86 and part this out or something

Sooo this has just been sitting here now and its making me sad.

I've had slight expression of interest in it, but haven't had it up for sale properly. So I'm on my way to u-pull it this week for some parts for the 70 and decided I should just put some panels on this and drive it again, unless it sells before then.

Heres how it sits right now anyway.

FUUUU lost mini hard drive with camera cord. Anyway pics later.
